DGP monitors statewide security for Shrawan Shivratri
1 2 L ucknow: DGP Rajeev Krishna on Wednesday monitored security arrangements across the state on the occasion of Shrawan Shivratri, at the UP Police Social Media Centre in Lucknow. The DGP reviewed live feeds from CCTV cameras and tethered drones installed in various districts for the safety of devotees and the smooth conduct of festivities. He interacted with officials from multiple districts, assessed ground-level arrangements, and issued directives to strengthen security where required. The Social Media Centre, located at the UP Police Headquarters, is the command hub for real-time monitoring. The live surveillance setup allows authorities to track large gatherings, manage traffic, and prevent any untoward incidents during the religious occasions. Senior officials, including ADG law and order Amitabh Yash, ADG technical services Naveen Arora and IG law and order LR Kumar, were present during the review. The DGP emphasised proactive coordination among district police units and continuous monitoring through technological tools like CCTV networks and drone surveillance, during major religious and public events in the state.

CM Yogi performs Rudrabhishek, havan in Gkp on Shrawan Shivratri
1 2 Gorakhpur : Chief Minister and Gorakshpeethadhishwar Yogi Adityanath performed Rudrabhishek at the ancient Mansarovar Temple in Gorakhpur's Andhiyari Bagh on the occasion of Shrawan Shivratri on Wednesday. The CM prayed for the well-being, peace, and prosperity of the people of the state. The rituals were performed on the Chaturdashi of Krishna Paksha of the Shrawan month. The CM offered bilva leaves, lotus, durva grass, water, cow milk, and sugarcane juice while performing the abhishek amid vedic mantras by scholars from Gorakhnath Temple. The rituals concluded with havan and aarti. Head priest of Gorakhnath temple Yogi Kamalnath, MP Ravi Kishan, mayor Manglesh Srivastava, MLA Vipin Singh, MLC Dharmendra Singh and other dignitaries were present on the occasion. Meanwhile, in a unique gesture to honour devotees, flowers were showered on the devotees in Gorakhpur and Sant Kabir Nagar. Acting on the CM's directives, a helicopter was deployed to shower flower petals over the sea of devotees at temples including Gorakhnath temple, Manasrovar temple, Mukteshwar Nath temple, Jharkhandi Mahadev temple, Munjeshwar Nath temple (Bhauvapar), Mateshwar Shiv temple (Pipraich), and Tameshwar Nath temple in Sant Kabir Nagar. This aerial tribute is a part of the state's broader Shrawan initiative aiming to ensure smooth arrangements for pilgrims while showing respect for their devotion.

City awash with devotion on Shrawan Shivratri
1 2 Prayagraj: A wave of devotion swept across the Sangam city on Wednesday as thousands of devotees thronged prominent Lord Shiv temples to mark the auspicious occasion of Shrawan Shivratri with jalabhishek and prayers. Kanwariyas, who undertook the annual Kanwar Yatra, also performed jalabhishek to Lord Shiv at local temples. Groups of devotees started flocking prominent temples since early morning to present offerings to the deity, express their reverence and seek divine blessings. Devotees were also spotted performing the jalabhishek or rudrabhishek and offering curd, milk, honey, panchamruta, bel leaves, flowers and sandalwood paste to the Shivlinga at the temples. Noted religious scholar Dr Amitabh Gour said: "Shrawan Shivratri is a major Hindu festival with deep religious and spiritual meaning. On this day, devotees offer special prayers to Lord Shiv with devotion and purity. They also perform various religious and spiritual activities to appease the Lord. Every year, Shrawan Shivratri is celebrated on Chaturdashi Tithi of Krishna Paksha in the month of Shrawan. This sacred month is a period of worship, fasting and pilgrimage dedicated to Lord Shiv."
