Delhi CM Shri schools to get 21,000 smart classrooms in Rs 900 crore education push
The Delhi government has cleared a major Rs-900 crore education plan to turn its classrooms digital. At its 10th Cabinet meeting held on Monday, the government gave the green light to a five-phase project that will upgrade infrastructure, implement the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, and roll out smart classrooms across all CM Shri initiative will begin with the installation of 2,446 smart blackboards in 75 CM Shri Schools, setting the groundwork for a total of 21,412 smart classrooms by the academic year 2029-30. The project will cover students from Classes 9 to 12 across Minister Ashish Sood, speaking at a press conference, highlighted the scale of change. 'Between 2014 and 2024, only 799 classrooms had smart blackboards -- and those were through CSR. Now we're moving to over 21,000. This is not a side reform. It's a complete shift,' he said.
The funding is not just for hardware. The plan includes teacher training, enhanced digital teaching methods, and a stronger focus on learner-centric education as envisioned in NEP past initiatives that struggled to scale, this project is fully funded by the government, with tenders for the first phase already in advanced than just a tech upgrade, the move reimagines classrooms as interactive learning spaces -- where students engage, think, and collaborate, and teachers move from content delivery to active facilitation.(With PTI inputs)- Ends
