4 cops held for bribery in police recruitment
Buxar: In a strong move against corruption within the police force, Buxar police on Saturday arrested four constables, including one serving constable, Aditya Kumar, and three newly appointed ones, on charges of accepting bribes from candidates during the ongoing Bihar Police constable recruitment process. Police recovered Rs 3.5 lakh in cash from the site and evidence of online transfers amounting to Rs 1.6 lakh also emerged. An FIR has been lodged and the accused have been remanded in judicial custody. SP Arya said, "Strict legal action will be taken against those involved. The department maintains a zero-tolerance policy on corruption. These actions are essential to reinforce accountability and restore public trust in the police."

Buxar DM inspects preparations for Shrawan Mela
Buxar: With the holy month of Shrawan commencing on Friday, the district administration has made a comprehensive plan covering security, traffic regulation, and essential civic amenities, anticipating huge influx of devotees at the historic Baba Brahmeshwar Nath Temple in Brahmapur of Buxar district. This year, the 30-day period will include four 'Shrawan Somvars' (holy Mondays), during which lakhs of Kanwariyas are expected to collect sacred water from the Ganga in Buxar and offer it at Baba Brahmeshwar Nath Temple. As per the official estimate, nearly 10 lakh devotees are expected to participate in the Shrawan Mela here. On Thursday, Buxar DM Vidyanand Singh, SP Shubham Arya, Dumraon SDM Rakesh Kumar, and DSP Afaque Akhtar Ansari jointly inspected the temple premises. "As part of the crowd control measures, 15 drop gates have been installed to prevent overcrowding and manage the flow of devotees. Sensitive areas —including Ramrekha Ghat, Shrinath Baba Temple, Gaurishankar Temple (Sohni Patti), and Sokhadham (Itadhi) — will be under constant CCTV surveillance. To enhance women's safety, female police personnel and magistrates will be deployed at all key points," he said. According to the DM, given the expected rise in vehicular movement along NH-922, a dedicated lane has also been designated for kanwariyas. Additionally, two and four-wheeler traffic will be restricted from Veer Kunwar Singh Chowk to Alka Cinema in Buxar town. Lathi force units, women constables, and cyber police teams will be stationed at major intersections and ghats to maintain law and order and monitor social media for misinformation. Municipal bodies have also been directed to ensure proper sanitation, install temporary toilets, and provide clean drinking water at temples and ghats across the district.

e-Malkhana App launched in 6 police stations of Buxar
Buxar: Marking a transformative step towards digitisation and transparency in police operations, e-Malkhana App has been launched in six police stations of the district. This innovative system is designed to modernise the management of seized items stored in malkhanas. Inspired by a similar initiative implemented by the Delhi Police, the e-Malkhana App enables digital cataloguing of every seized item using unique identification codes, high-resolution photographs, associated case details and precise storage location mapping. The app has been launched in six police stations—Itadhi, Dhansoi, Tilak Rai Ka Hata, Chakki, Bagen Gola and Vasudeva outpost of the district. Buxar SP, Shubham Arya, said, "Items stored in the malkhana are the property of the court and they must be produced when required. Delays or mishandling can severely impact the delivery of justice. The e-Malkhana app ensures that every item is traceable and its condition verifiable in real time." Earlier, records were maintained on paper—making them vulnerable to damage, misplacement, or manipulation. Searching for a single piece of evidence could take hours, often delaying court proceedings.
