Kelly Osbourne's heartbreaking tribute to dad Ozzy
Kelly Osbourne has referenced her father Ozzy's music in a heartbreaking tribute to her late dad. Ozzy passed away on Tuesday (July 22) following a lengthy battle with Parkinson's Disease, aged 76. His death came just weeks after his farewell concert with the original lineup of Black Sabbath, in their native Aston in Birmingham as they played in Villa Park. Tributes have been paid to the Prince of Darkness following his death and storied career, with Kelly — who had a career in music and reality TV of her own as well as being a panellist on The View — paying a heartbreaking tribute to her father, referencing his own lyrics on her Instagram stories. Pic:for The Recording Academy Taking a line from the song Changes, Kelly wrote 'I feel unhappy, I feel so sad. I lost the best friend I ever had,' alongside a heartbreak emoji. Black Sabbath released the song in 1972 on their Vol 4 album, before Ozzy re-released the song in 2003 as a duet with his daughter. Kelly had posted a sweet video of Ozzy with her two-year-old son Sidney just two days before his death, saying good morning to the camera and panning to her dad, who was wearing headphones before telling the camera good morning. Kelly made a reference to the song Changes in a moving tribute to her late dad. Pic:Kelly is the second youngest of Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne's six children, and was a highlight of the reality show that followed her family in the 2000s where she was a typical teenager with angst and teenage humour. In 2002, she released her debut album Shut Up, which included a cover of Papa Don't Preach, in 2002, followed by Sleep in Nothing in 2005. She also got engaged to her partner, Slipknot DJ Sid Wilson, following her father's final concert with Black Sabbath. The couple share one son in Sidney. Ozzy passed away on Tuesday, July 22. DAESUNG, also known as D-Lite, has had an instrumental role in shaping the legacy of South Korea's pop group BigBang. Since debuting as a member in 2006, the 36-year-old has acted as the group's main singer, serving as the vocal backbone in many of the group's songs. But aside from his contributions to the group's discography, Daesung has also delivered a remarkable array of hits on his own as a solo artiste. In conjunction with his upcoming D's Wave concert in Resorts World Genting next month, here is a curated list of his most memorable songs. The lyrics are a gentle plea for listeners to find solace and hope despite their current struggles. Daesung assures them that brighter days are ahead, though things may seem bleak at the moment. Shut Up (2014) An anthemic rock ballad, Shut Up is from Desung's sophomore Japanese album D'slove. Following BigBang's hiatus in 2012, Daesung extended his solo activities in Japan, releasing his debut album D'scover. D'slove was a follow-up effort, featuring various Japanese tracks such as Shut Up. Penn Badgley clarifies son's name after years of confusion
Penn Badgley recently set the record straight about his 4-year-old son's name after years of confusion on Wikipedia. The actor, best known for his role in You, appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday, where he revealed that his son's name is not James, despite what the popular online encyclopedia has claimed for years. Badgley, 38, explained that the name "James" had been incorrectly listed on Wikipedia, and despite multiple attempts to correct it, the error would persist. 'We'd get it removed, and it would go back,' he said, emphasizing that his son's name is not James. Badgley admitted feeling awkward addressing the issue but decided to use his platform to clear up the confusion. He shared that the mix-up had even affected his personal life, as friends and family would mistakenly address his son as James, often consulting Google for confirmation. "There are people who are close to the family who haven't seen us in a while, they send us a card and it says, 'To all of us and James,'" he explained. While Badgley didn't reveal his son's real name for privacy reasons, he teased that it is "a good name." He also spoke about his growing family, including his wife, Domino Kirke, and their exciting news that they are expecting twin boys this summer. The couple, married in 2017, also shares Kirke's 16-year-old son, Cassius. Badgley expressed his joy about the twins' arrival and his 4-year-old's excitement about becoming a big brother. Wooooo Hooooo: It's the Weekend!
Strange... but the 'Black-Eyed Peas,' a group of musicians with their origins in the mid 1990's wrote a song that somewhat rearranges our week. 'I Got a Feeling,' launched in 2009 and was a stunning success, topping the Billboard Charts for 26 consecutive weeks, a record at the time. The group was originally put together by William Adams Jr, Alan Limbo, Mooky Mook, Dante Santiago and DJMotiv8, as a concept group, exploring musical diversity with jazz and rhythm; and blues influences. That first iteration, while having a loyal following, a distinctive, almost retro style, was very different from the 'gansta-rap' style of the day, but their first album was never released and they, in musical parlance, stalled. Of the originals, William Adams Jr, was to achieve prominence across the wider entertainment industry as ' and Alan Pineda Limbo, re-identified himself as ' To join the two were Jaime Luis Gomez, otherwise known as 'Taboo.' I guess 'strange' doesn't really say it all, does it? Changing what appear to be perfectly good names, given by their parents, to a confusing litany of identifiers... oh well. However, the same sophistication that had earmarked their earlier venture, this time around found an appreciative audience, perhaps in the new social awareness of black America and prominent soloists Macy Gray and Kim Hill were guest artists across several of their releases between 1995 and 2002. Then Stacey May 'Fergie' Ferguson joined them, offering her unique voice, the antonym to their diversity, the missing piece of their puzzle, and they went stratospheric! Fergie's soulful 'Where Is the Love,' led the charge; 'Shut Up,' consolidated their musical 'creds,' culminating in a Grammy in 2005, their unique 'Don't Phunk With My Heart,' and 'Don't Lie,' and 'My Humps,' created a legacy that would endure until 2011. Anyway, back to 'I Got a Feeling.' It's a cracking tune and everyone, if nothing else, can sing along to the repetitive words and melodies, not always at the right time, or in the right tune, but IGaF inspires smiles, joy and celebration, with its falsetto 'Woooooooh hoooooooo,' and 'tonight's gonna be a good night.' But why has it always piqued my fancy? Because it restyles and remodels the week. Amidst all the repetition and 'Tonight's gonna be a good night-ing,' they sing, 'Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Saturday to Sunday,' doing what many of us have always asked for... two Saturdays in a week, or a weekend! Apart from its catchy lyrics, its 100% weekend and party vibe, very few people know that it was inspired by David (Ravy Davy) Guetta, the French-born icon of dance-pop collaboration, whether as a producer or DJ, they say, 'everything Guetta, turns to gold.' Guetta, in 2009, worked around several 'beats,' or unfinished tunes, with and when the American came up with 'tonight's gonna be a good night,' as the hook, Guetta immediately recognised its potential and the most downloaded tune in America's history was born. for his part, recognised that young people were looking for, if not escape, then stimulation, joy, noise and dedicated it to 'the party people, who just want to go out, to lose themselves, to escape and have fun.' He felt that with times being hard and drugs meaning trouble with a capital 'T,' here was something to embrace. He was surely right and even Guetta, who two years later was to release the greatest dance anthem ever, with Kelly Rowland, 'When Love Takes Over,' credits the Black-Eyed Peas collaboration with setting the standard, musically and socially. I'm no great 'muso' or music afficionado, but this tune has relevance to so many of us. It's liberating! It helps us to understand that we can see our lives and our weekends, in different ways. We do have the power, not only to embrace change, but to make it happen, to work hard and play harder. So often, we do know what we want and where we are headed, but we are rarely bold enough to embrace the destination and so, the journey.
