On the podcast today; the Club World Cup might have started to entertain? South American sides are enjoying themselves, Nicolas Jackson is not. It is, of course, impossible to forget the numerous off-pitch issues including Donald Trump invited Juventus to the White House, Fifa flip-flopping on anti-racism messaging and players not able to sit on the subs bench in ridiculous heat. Elsewhere, England Under-21s beat Spain, the Premier League fixtures were released and the pod discuss hot transfer gossip. Last night, Spain and France served up a delightful goalfest that wasn't nearly as tight as the 5-4 scoreline suggests in their Nations League semi-final, with Lamine Yamal putting on another masterclass as he and his chums survived a late French comeback to book their place against Portugal in Sunday's all-Iberian final. There's plenty more international action to look forward to over the coming weekend, with all four of the home nations and the Republic of Ireland due to play assorted World Cup qualifiers and friendlies. We're here to bring you build-up to those games, transfer news and any other stories of note that break throughout the day, so don't dare touch that dial please stay tuned, but only if you want to.

Barcelona v Real Madrid: Copa del Rey final
Show key events only Please turn on JavaScript to use this feature 'Faced by rumours in the last few hours, we wish to communicate our team has never proposed renouncing playing the final,' Real Madrid said in a statement released late last night before this high-stakes encounter against Barcelona. 'Our club understands that the unfortunate and inappropriate declarations made by the referees assigned to this game, 24 hours before the final, cannot stain a sporting event of global significance.' Hardly a serene buildup, then, but here we are. Real's confirmation that they would grace us with their presence capped a day of uncertainty on Friday after the appointed referee, Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea, spoke of repeated criticism aimed at him on Real Madrid's TV channel and by the club's fans. 'When a child goes to school and people tell him his father is a thief, it's messed up,' he said in a press conference. Real Madrid consequently cancelled the pre-match pleasantries in protest, but we do have a game on, and it promises to be extra-spicy. Sid Lowe has the full story of that contentious buildup, and kick-off will be coming up at 9pm UK time. Vamos! Share
