Amaal Mallik clarifies he did not speak against any religion as he shared girlfriend broke-up with him because he's a Muslim: ‘It's a secular mindset'

Amaal Mallik recently revealed that he was in a relationship with a girl for many years but they broke up because her family had an issue with his religion and his music career both. He had said, 'I was in a relationship for around five years. she called me and told me she was getting married. She said, 'If you come now, I'll elope with you.' But I told her, 'If your parents can't accept my religion and respect my career, then I wish you the best.'" He had further said in this interview with Siddharth Kannan, 'People think I'm a Muslim, but my father (Daboo Malik) is a Muslim and my mother is a Saraswat Brahmin Hindu." He revealed that his girlfriend was a Jaat and their break-up was a harsh time for him. He had also said, 'There's no 'I' of Islam in me. I don't follow the religion to the T. I am the least religious guy. I believe in Karma. We neutrally respect every religion. " However, Amaal has now clarified his stance as his statements are being misunderstood. He took to his social media and wrote, 'For every one coming up with lovely articles & headlines about how I have spoken against a community you all are completely wrong 😒 I spoke about my choices as an individual born to a Muslim father & a Hindu mother. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Struggling With Belly Fat? Nani Talks About South Industry 'Saving Bollywood', Says 'Everyone Just Wants A Great Film'

Last Updated: Bollywood struggled at the box office despite positive reviews, but 2024 saw South films dominate. Nani believes Hindi cinema will bounce back despite ups and downs. Bollywood has faced its fair share of struggles lately, with many films failing to make an impact at the box office, despite positive reviews. However, 2024 saw a dramatic shift as six out of the ten highest-grossing Indian films were from the South, including Pushpa 2 and Kalki 2898 AD. In a recent interview, Nani pondered upon the fact whether South films are playing a role in reviving Bollywood. Nani shared his thoughts, explaining that every film industry experiences ups and downs. He pointed out that even Tollywood faced a rough summer last year, but bounced back strong afterward. 'I think saving is the wrong word. But I think balancing it is the right word. Sometimes, even Telugu has a lull, and films won't work for 3-4 months. Last summer, we shut down theatres due to it. No film was clicking in peak season. We come back with double the force all the time, which will happen in Hindi too," he told Siddharth Kannan. The actor added, 'The good thing now is that everyone just wants a good film, no matter the language. Everyone just wants a great film. That just pushes us to try and make great films. Hindi cinema has made some of the greatest films that we grew up watching, and I'm sure it'll bounce back big time. Sometimes you need to have these dry periods so you can stop and check, restart the engine and come back with double the force." Nani was last seen in Vivek Athreya's Saripodhaa Sanivaaram last year, where he took on the role of an angry vigilante, dishing out justice to those who deserved it. Up next, Nani will star in HIT: The Third Case (HIT 3), directed by Sailesh Kolanu, set to hit theatres on May 1. Co-starring Srinidhi Shetty, the film promises to be an intense ride. In addition, Nani is also busy shooting for The Paradise with Dasara director Srikanth Odela. First Published: April 27, 2025, 08:35 IST
