Michael Madsen's actress sister Virginia breaks silence on his shocking death: He ‘has left the stage'

Michael Madsen's family are in mourning after the actor's shocking death. His younger sister, actress Virginia Madsen, addressed his sudden passing, shortly after the 'Donnie Brasco' star was found unresponsive by authorities in his Malibu, Calif., home on Thursday, July 3. Michael was 67. Advertisement 11 Virginia Madsen and Michael Madsen at the 'Die Another Day' screening in 2002. Getty Images 'My brother Michael has left the stage,' Virginia, 63, told Variety in a statement. 'He was thunder and velvet. Mischief wrapped in tenderness. A poet disguised as an outlaw. A father, a son, a brother — etched in contradiction, tempered by love that left its mark.' The actress — known for her roles in 'Candy Man' (1992) and 'Sideways' (2004) — made it clear: 'We're not mourning a public figure. We're not mourning a myth — but flesh and blood and ferocious heart. Who stormed through life loud, brilliant, and half on fire. Who leaves us echoes — gruff, brilliant, unrepeatable — half legend, half lullaby.' Advertisement Virginia ended her heartfelt statement on a personal note. 'I'll miss our inside jokes, the sudden laughter, the sound of him. I'll miss the boy he was before the legend; I miss my big brother. Thank you to everyone reaching out with love and memory. In time, we'll share how we plan to celebrate his life — but for now, we stay close, and let the silence say what words can't,' she concluded. Virginia and Michael supported each other during their careers, often appearing on the red carpet together at each other's premieres. 11 Michael Madsen and actress Virginia Madsen attend the Miramax Feature film premiere of 'Kill Bill Vol. II.' Two of his former co-stars, Harvey Keitel and Vivica A. Fox, also reacted to the news of his passing. Advertisement 'We've lost another great American poet. AP Besides his legendary film career, Michael was a published poet and has a book, titled 'Tears for My Father: Outlaw Thoughts and Poems,' due out next year. Tarantino wrote in the foreword for the book: 'For me, the real journey that Michael the writer is exploring is what it means to be a man in a world where the notions of manhood that some of us grew up with are barely remembered. But then if everybody embarked on the hero's journey, everybody would be a hero, wouldn't they?' 'Michael was a talented man with an AMAZING on screen presence! My deepest condolences & prayers to his family. #GoneToSoon #RestInParadise,' Fox exclusively told The Post via email. 11 Michael Madsen died on Thursday, July 3 at the age of 67. FilmMagic Michael was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:25 a.m., a representative for the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department confirmed to The Post. Michael's team released a joint statement, with his manager, Ron Smith, saying the actor died from cardiac arrest. 11 Michael Madsen and his sister Virginia Madsen at the launch party of 'The Complete Poetic Works Of Michael Madsen.' 'Michael was also preparing to release a new book called 'Tears for My Father: Outlaw Thoughts and Poems,' currently being edited,' they continued. 'Michael Madsen was one of Hollywood's most iconic actors, who will be missed by many.' The Chicago-born actor's feature film debut came in the 1983 sci-fi techno thriller 'WarGames,' however, during her four-decade-career, he quickly became typecast as a tough guy — a move he said stemmed from his role as Mr. Blonde in 'Reservoir Dogs.' He's up there with George Stevens and Alfred Hitchcock, Elia Kazan,' Michael told The Hollywood reporter in 2018. 'Because of that, because of my relationship with him, it became bigger than anything I ever did. And then 'Kill Bill' put the final stamp on that one. It's a great blessing to have that and at the same time, it is really hard to get out of it. And people don't want you to get out of it.' He added, 'It's really hard to break out of that nest once you've built it.' His son, Hudson, died by suicide in 2022.

Sittin' Sidewayz: Beyoncé Stuck In Dangling Car At Hometown Concert As Beyhive Comes To The Rescue

Source: Lyvans Boolaky / Getty Beyoncé survived a scary moment in the midst of her Cowboy Carter tour at its hometown stop at NRG Stadium in Houston. While performing '18 Carriages,' where she performs mid-air in a Cadillac retrofitted specifically for the tour, it began to sway and tilt. She continued singing but finally said, 'Stop. Stop, stop, stop, stop. Stop,' prompting the concert crew to lower her back to the stage. Fans cheered as the 43-year-old superstar was then led off the stage after saying, 'Thank you for your patience.' This was the first of two shows at the venue in Beyoncé's hometown. She's on the last leg of the Cowboy Carter tour, which continues through July, ending in Las Vegas. After returning to the stage, a smiling Beyoncé then said, 'I wanna thank y'all for loving me. If I ever fall, I know y'all would catch me,' to cheers from the crowd. Per the New York Times, Parkwood Entertainment, Beyoncé's production company, issued a statement, which read: 'a technical mishap caused the flying car, a prop Beyoncé uses to circle the stadium, and see her fans up close, to tilt. She was quickly lowered, and no one was injured.' Beyoncé's eighth studio album, Cowboy Carter , won the Grammy for Best Country Album this year, despite not being publicly endorsed by the genre's biggest stars or either of its main award organizations, the CMA and the ACM. A visibly shocked Beyoncé took the stage to deliver an acceptance speech encouraging people to genre-bend. 'I think sometimes genre is a code word to keep us in our place as artists, and I just wanna encourage people to do what they're passionate about and to stay persistent,' she said in part. Ever the professional, Beyoncé took the incident in stride, even posting pictures on her IG account accompanied by the song, 'Sideways' by Big Pokey and Paul Wall. The Beyhive rose up and said they'd be willing to save her if the car were to fully malfunction. See the reactions below. US director Alexander Payne to head Venice Film Festival jury

ROME: US director Alexander Payne will head the main competition jury at this year's Venice Film Festival, the organisers said on Monday. Payne's films, including the comedies 'The Holdovers', 'Sideways' and 'The Descendants', have been nominated for a total 24 Oscars, including four times for Best Picture and three times for Best Director. He has won twice for Best Adapted Screenplay. 'It's an enormous honour and joy to serve on the jury at Venice. Although I share a filmmaker's ambivalence about comparing films against one another, I revere the Venice Film Festival's nearly 100-year history of loudly celebrating film as an art form,' Payne said in a statement. The movies in competition will be announced in July. Payne's 2017 comedy 'Downsizing' opened the festival in 2017.
