Strictly ban Princess Diana's butler from show to avoid 'upsetting Camilla'
Strictly bosses don't want former Royal butler Paul Burrell on the show as they worry about upsetting the Palace, insiders on the show claim Strictly bosses have vetoed Paul Burrell appearing on Strictly Come Dancing - as they're worried about upsetting Queen Camilla. Sources claim the former Royal butler has been mooted as a possible contestant over the last few years. But execs fear it would land badly with the Palace and have dismissed the idea. A source told us: 'They know how much Queen Camilla loves the show and would love for her to appear in the they fear that Paul's involvement would scupper that relationship.' Burrell has previously faced accusations that he has cashed in on his relationship with the late Princess of Wales, which he has denied. But the BBC show does have strong links with the Palace. Queen Camilla, who attends Silver Swans - classes for elderly ballet dancers run by the Royal Academy of Dance - has described herself as one of the show's 'greatest fans'. Sabrina Carpenter in incredible duet with music legends at London Hyde Park show She once told Strictly professional dancer Johannes Radebe 'we all watch it'. Host Tess Daly's husband Vernon Kay has previously talked of the 'real friendship' that has formed between his wife and Her Majesty, with the Queen even keen to know what goes on behind-the-scenes. Kay, 51, said: "Camilla and Tess have a real friendship through it now. They don't text, but we have mutual friends and messages come through. When they see each other, the Queen is always asking: 'Who is your favourite?' She wants to know the backstage gossip. "It's crazy to think of the King and Queen sat on the sofa with a brew watching your wife present Strictly." Camilla also hosted a palace tea party for Strictly where she danced with former professional Brendan Cole and also filmed a video message for the 2020 final, which was won by Bill Bailey and Oti Mabuse. Many pointed to the fact that Strictly hosts Claudia Winkleman and Daly were this month recognised in the King's Birthday Honours. Winkleman, 53, and 56-year-old Daly have co-hosted the series since 2014.

Queen Camilla's touching Strictly comment to Angela Rippon
Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Queen Camilla had a touching comment to Angela Rippon when the TV presenter appeared on Strictly Come Dancing. The Queen is said to be the 'one of the greatests fan' of the hit BBC show. Professional dancer Johannes Radebe once revealed she 'never misses' an episode. It meant that Camilla was sure to catch Angela, 80, when she partnered up with professional Kai Widdrington in 2023. Angela was eliminated eighth in the series that saw Coronation Street star Ellie Leach lifting the Glitterball Trophy. Angela became the oldest celebrity to take part in Strictly when she took to the dancefloor. And it seems as though her performance had the royal seal of approval from the Queen. Speaking to Woman's Weekly, the former newsreader said: 'Queen Camilla said we were cool, but I don't know if she voted.' (Image: PA) Angela, who began her television career at BBC South West in 1966, presented Come Dancing. The show is considered to be the forerunner of Strictly, although its competitors were neither celebrities nor professionals. Both Angela and the Queen have spoken about maintaining their love of dance later in life. In 2020, the pair met at a Silver Swans ballet class - a strength session for people over 55 - after which the Queen revealed she likes to dance to stay active. At the time, the Queen said: 'I think we've got to keep active, if we don't, we'll just seize up and you know, we won't be able to get out of bed in the morning. It doesn't matter if it's 10 minutes or 20 minutes, it just starts off the day. I do a combination of a bit of Silver Swans and a bit of pilates and a lot of walking, which I love.' (Image: PA Archive/PA Images) Speaking about her visit to Silver Swans, the Queen said: 'Sarah, the teacher, said, 'Would you ever consider having a lesson?' So I got a group of ancient friends together and the four of us sort of clattered around and when we're in London, we do it once a week, and it makes all the difference. 'I've always loved dance but I've never done ballet before. It doesn't matter if you've done ballet or not, it's something that will make you feel better.' The Queen says learning to dance teaches people 'discipline' while being 'really good fun'. South African dancer Johannes was taken aback by the Queen's fondness of dance when the pair met last year. Speaking after the meeting Johannes, who made history when he partnered with John Whaite as the first same-sex couple, said: 'She adores the show and never misses it. I didn't know she was a lover of tap as well. I do know that she loves Strictly Come Dancing.'

Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly reportedly named in King's Birthday Honours
The two TV presenters, who have fronted the series together since 2014, will be recognised in this year's list which will be revealed on Friday, The Daily Mail said. Queen Camilla, who attends Silver Swans – classes for elderly ballet dancers run by the Royal Academy of Dance – is known to tune in to BBC's Strictly Come Dancing and has described herself as one of Strictly's 'greatest fans'. Winkleman, 53, is also behind the gameshow, The Traitors, for which she took home the 2023 award for Entertainment Performance at the Baftas. The London-born broadcaster formerly presented on BBC Radio Two until 2024, helming different slots and programmes on the station including the comedy quiz series Hot Gossip, the Claudia Winkleman Arts Show and Claudia On Sunday. Her co-host, Daly, 56, presented the series since it first launched in 2004 alongside the late Sir Bruce Forsyth until he stepped down from the role in 2014. During that time the model took part in the 2008 Strictly Children In Need special where she won the title with professional dancer Anton Du Beke. The recognition comes amid a turbulent year for the Strictly team with reports alleging inappropriate behaviour from contestants and professional dancers. Most recently, EastEnders star James Borthwick was suspended from the BBC after a video emerged of the actor using a disabled slur on set of the dance programme. This comes after Welsh opera singer and BBC Radio Wales presenter, Wynne Evans, said he had been dropped by the BBC, following an apology saying that he used 'inappropriate language' during the launch of the Strictly Come Dancing tour. In 2024, the BBC launched a review into professional dancer Giovanni Pernice after accusations from contestant Amanda Abbington of 'inappropriate, mean, nasty bullying' behaviour during her time on the 2023 series. Italian dancer Pernice, who 'rejected any suggestion of abusive or threatening behaviour', and welcomed the conclusion of a BBC review which upheld 'some, but not all' of the complaints made by the actress against him. David Beckham is expected be awarded a knighthood in the King's Birthday Honours, according to reports last week, having previously been awarded an OBE in 2003.
