Silverburn wins Shopping Complex of the Year title

Silverburn was awarded the title at the Scottish Hospitality Awards 2025, a ceremony that celebrates outstanding achievements across Scotland's hospitality sector. The centre's security team, managed by SecuriGroup, was also recognised at the 2025 BSIA (British Security Industry Association) Regional (Scotland) Awards with three major accolades. Darren McNally, the security manager, leads the team in maintaining a safe and inviting space for Silverburn's millions of annual visitors. Anthony McGovern received the Outstanding Act award for his life-saving, empathetic, and professional assistance to a vulnerable guest in distress. Thomas Deeley's 16-year career at Silverburn was celebrated with the Customer Service Champion title, acknowledging his consistent dedication, leadership, and mentoring of new team members. Lori Cracovschi's rapid career progression at Silverburn since 2022 earned her a spot on the Security Industry Woman of the Year shortlist at the Fire and Security Matters Awards. Brands, including Superdry and Michael Kors, are among some of the retail giants to have shut down their shops in and around the city already. Meanwhile, other retailers, including Scotts, have announced they are set to close down stores in the city. On June 9, we reported how Superdry had shut down its Silverburn store. A sign on the venue's window revealed the devastating news. It said: "This store is now closed. You can continue to shop the full collection at Braehead Shopping Centre, Renfrew (Image: Newsquest) Meanwhile, on June 10, we revealed how the global retailer had also shut its shop in Braehead, near Glasgow. A spokesperson for the leisure facility confirmed the news to the Glasgow Times. In a statement, they said: 'Superdry is leaving Braehead Shopping Centre and we wish the staff well for the future." The brand also revealed that MyBeauty members will enjoy exclusive perks throughout the opening weekend, including exclusive discounts, live entertainment, a chance to win freebies, and surprise treats running through to 15 June.
