Three women arrested with alleged hybrid ganja, drug-laced sweets worth ₹40 crore at Karipur airport in Kerala
Air Customs intelligence wing at the Calicut international airport, Karipur, seized 34 kg of allehed hybrid ganja and 15 kg of drug-smeared sweets worth nearly ₹40 crore from three women who arrived from Thailand on Wednesday (May 14, 2025).
The women – Simi Balakrishnan, 39, from Thrissur, Rabiyat Saidu Zainuddin, 40, from Chennai and Kavita Rajesh Kumar, 40, from Chennai – reached Karipur on Air Asia's flight AK-33 from Thailand. They reached Karipur via Kuala Lumpur.
Customs officers detained them on the basis of a tip-off, and recovered 35 kg of alleged hybrid ganja and 15 kg Thailand-made chocolate, cake and biscuit smeared in drugs.
Customs officers said the drugs were valued at ₹40 crore in the international market.
