Now, digital prescriptions at Lucknow's urban PHCs
Jun 28, 2025 05:06 AM IST Understanding names of medicines on prescriptions from doctors at 48 government urban primary health centres (UPHCs) in Lucknow will no longer be a trouble as a digital format has been introduced by the health department in the state capital. Lucknow's chief medical officer Dr NB Singh got the facility introduced. (For Representation) 'The prescription will be linked with the Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) ID of the patient and the digital slip can be printed too, where names of medicines will be visibly clear,' said Lucknow's chief medical officer Dr NB Singh who got the facility introduced. At times, it was troublesome for chemists and patients alike to read handwritten prescriptions. The initiative will not only make it easier for patients to access medicines but will also ensure that their medical records are safely stored. The facility will soon be extended to the remaining 6 UPHCs. Additionally, 108 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (AAMs) in urban areas will also adopt this facility. This in particular will be beneficial if the patient needs their medical record in future for treatment. Dr Singh said the digital prescriptions will be received in printed form and hence eliminating the need to decipher handwritten notes. He said these prescriptions will be stored in patients' ABHA IDs, allowing doctors to access their medical history. Moreover, the patients will no longer need to worry about losing their prescription papers.

Bengaluru: The death of five tigers at Male Mahadeshwara (MM) Hills Wildlife Sanctuary in Chamarajanagar on Thursday — said to be the largest single-day tiger mortality in the state since the launch of Project Tiger in India — has raised several questions over the preparedness of the forest department in the management of the protected areas across Karnataka. Amid the mounting criticism over the deaths, former Indian Forest Service (IFS) officials have pointed out the failure of the forest intelligence in anticipating the incident, especially in a sensitive area like MM Hills that borders the neighbouring Tamil Nadu. Retired principal chief conservator of forests (wildlife) Braj Kishore Singh, who served in Kollegal division as DCF, attributed the deaths to a failure of intelligence. "While elephant poaching or electrocution was known in that area, the killing of tigers is strange and shocking. The death of the tigress and her cubs indicates that forest officials were neither active nor present on the ground," Singh said. Kejriwal hails IAF Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla's journey to ISS as a moment of "immense pride" for India
New Delhi [India], June 25 (ANI): Former Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday hailed Indian Air Force Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla as he embarked on a journey to the International Space Station as part of Axiom Mission 4. Shukla has become the second Indian astronaut to travel to space after Rakesh Sharma's iconic voyage 41 years ago in 1984. In a post on X, Kejriwal said, 'A moment of immense pride for the entire nation as IAF Group Captain and astronaut #ShubhanshuShukla embarks on his journey to the International Space Station as part of #AxiomMission4. His contribution to this mission is invaluable. Another Indian makes history in space today - bringing glory, knowledge, and inspiration back home.' Earlier in the day, Union Minister Jitendra Singh hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's decision to open up the space sector to private players as a 'turning point' that sparked a 'miraculous' transformation. He projected that the sector could grow to 40-45 billion US dollars in a decade, and added that experiments to be conducted by astronaut Shukla during the Axiom-4 mission will help prepare for future space missions like Chandrayaan-4 and the Bharat Space Station planned for 2035. 'I think one of the greatest turning points in India's space journey has been PM Modi's pathbreaking decision to allow the private sector to step in. The change has been miraculous. The transformation in the last 4-5 years - there are thousands of crores of investment happening from the private sector,' Singh told ANI. He further said that India's space sector is set for rapid growth in the coming years.'Our future projections indicate that in about 8-10 years we might go up to 4-5 times higher, about 40-45 billion US dollars. So, the opening of the space for the private sector was a very courageous decision which could have been taken only by a political dispensation with a tremendous amount of conviction and willpower,' the Union Minister said. Referring to India's growing ambitions in space exploration, Singh said the recent Axiom Mission 4 would provide valuable experience for future Indian missions. 'I think it will be a good experience also for future missions. This, coupled with Chandrayaan 4, also for missions like Bharat Space Station, which we plan to have by 2035 and for prolonged stay in space or in microgravity conditions - what are the arrangements to be put in place will also be learnt through the experiments to be conducted by Shubhanshu,' Singh said. "Any right-thinking citizen will endorse it": Jitendra Singh backs RSS' call to reconsider 'secular' and 'socialist in Preamble
Jammu (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], June 27 (ANI): Union Minister Jitendra Singh on Friday defended Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale's suggestion to reconsider the inclusion of the term 'socialist' and 'secular' in the Preamble of the Indian constitution, saying that any 'right-thinking person' would support such a demand as these terms were not part of the original Constitution. 'Any right-thinking citizen will endorse it because everyone knows they are not part of the original constitution, which Dr Ambedkar and the rest of the committee wrote. This is not the question of BJP vs is a matter of preserving democratic and constitutional values, and those violating the constitution are actually the biggest violators,' Singh told reporters. He pointed out that the words 'Secular' and 'Socialist' were added later, through the 42nd Amendment to the Constitution during the emergency, and not by the original drafters. 'Obviously! I don't think there's any doubt about it. Dattatreya Hosabale has stated that the words 'secular' and 'socialist' were added to our Preamble after the Amendment. Dr Ambedkar has crafted one of the world's finest constitutions. If this was not his thinking, how did someone add these words?' Singh added. Meanwhile, Siddaramaiah stated that the original Preamble didn't include the terms 'secular' and 'socialist,' as it was evident that India would be a socially just democracy. These terms were added later, at a time when the RSS and its affiliates were attacking these values. Singh's remarks followed Hosabale's suggestion that it is necessary to reconsider whether the terms 'secular and socialist' mentioned in the Preamble of the Indian Constitution should remain. Hosabale was addressing a program on the 50th anniversary of the Emergency, held at the Dr Ambedkar International Centre, jointly organised by the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (under the Ministry of Culture) and the Ambedkar International Centre. Speaking at the event, he emphasised that the Emergency wasn't just a misuse of power but an attempt to crush civil liberties. Millions were imprisoned, and freedom of the press was suppressed. He said that those who imposed the Emergency and trampled the constitution and democracy have never apologised. If they cannot apologise personally, they should do so on behalf of their ancestors. He remarked that during the Emergency, terms like 'socialist' and 'secular' were forcibly inserted into the constitution -- a move that needs to be reconsidered. (ANI)
