Ravi Kishan breaks silence on replacing Sanjay Dutt in Son of Sardaar 2: 'He is cult, no one can...'

Son of Sardaar 2 is gearing up for release very soon. The Ajay Devgn-starrer boasts an ensemble star cast, which also includes Ravi Kishan playing a Bihari Sardaar. In a recent podcast with Raj Shamani, the versatile actor expressed how he got the role and replaced Sanjay Dutt. Ravi Kishan revealed that Sanjay Dutt was originally cast for Son of Sardaar 2. However, he replaced the Khalnayak actor as destiny had other plans. Ravi explained how Sanjay Dutt's visa couldn't get approval from the British government, so Ajay Devgn approached him to fill his shoes. 'Ajay Devgn ka phone aaya mujhe, ek film humne Singham (Singham Returns) ki thi saath mein, wahan unko hamara kaam acha laga, thodi dosti hui set par, phir mai chunaao (election) mein chala gaya, achanak inka phone aaya. He said, 'Yaar Ravi ek problem hai, 40 din milenge kya? Abroad.' I was blank. Main bola 40 din ek saath! To bole haan, wo Sanjay Dutt ka visa Britain government ne reject kar diya. And the role is very powerful,' revealed Ravi Kishan. (I got a call from Ajay Devgn. We had done a film together called Singham (Singham Returns). He liked our work there. We became friends on the set. Then, I got involved in the elections. Suddenly, I got a call from him. He said, 'Yaar Ravi, there is a problem. Will I get 40 days? Abroad.' I was blank. I said 40 days together! So he said yes, the British government rejected Sanjay Dutt's visa. And the role is very powerful.) Ravi Kishan called Sanjay Dutt a 'Cult' Further, he stated that he asked his manager for the dates and finally made time for Ajay Devgn 's film. Ravi Kishan credited destiny for the events and underlined that no one can replace Sanju Baba. He further added, 'Sab destiny ne apna khel racha. Sanju Baba cult hain, no one can replace him but Sanju baba ke saath aisa ho gaya. To main aaya. Ab isko destiny kahein, kismat kahein, kya kahein mujhe nahi maloom.' (Destiny played its part. Sanju Baba is a cult; no one can replace him, but something like this happened with Sanju Baba. So I came. Now should I call it destiny, luck, what should I call it, I don't know.) 'To main Sanju Baba ko to replace nahi kar sakta wo cult hain, unko match bhi nahi kar sakta. Lekin ek Ravi Kishan jo Laapataa Ladies ke baad, Maamla Legal Hai ke baad logon ko pasand aaya. Wo ek Bihari Sardaar ke roop mein, pehli baar aap dekhenge.' Ravi mentioned that a big Sardaar community lives in Bihar, and they are all very excited to know that he is playing Bihari Sardaar in the movie. The actor thanked Ajay Devgn and called him 'Dilwala'. 'I want to thank Ajay Devgn. Log kehte hain na cinema me koi dost nahi banta, ek acha insan ek acha dilwala insan mila hai, jinka naam Ajay Devgn hai,' Ravi concluded. Stay tuned to Pinkvilla for more updates.

Ajay Devgn Reacts To Son Of Sardaar 2 Clashing with Kajol's Sarzameen: 'We Don't…'

Ajay Devgn returns as Jassi in Son of Sardaar 2, releasing July 25, same day as Kajol's Sarzameen on OTT. He addressed the clash and Sonakshi Sinha's absence. Ajay Devgn returns as Jassi, 13 years after Son of Sardaar was first released in 2012. The film is slated for release on July 25, the same day as his wife Kajol's Sarzameen. The only difference is that while Ajay's film is headed for the theatres, Sarzameen releases on JioHotstar. At the film's trailer launch in Mumbai, Ajay exclusively addressed the clash while speaking to News18 Showsha. He also shared why the makers didn't include Sonakshi Sinha's cameo, even though she was the leading lady in the 2012 film. 'That is on OTT. So there is no clash," Ajay playfully said, while talking about Kajol's Sarzameen releasing on the same day as Son of Sardaar. He further added, 'We do not discuss work a lot at home. Actually, not at all. We are just like a normal family at home and work is something we hardly discuss. You have reminded me that her film is also releasing on 25th. And I am sure she doesn't remember that my film is releasing on the same date. She knows I know but it's not that important. We don't take work home." The actor also spoke about why the makers didn't include Sonakshi Sinha's cameo in the film. He told us, 'The story moves on, and so we needed the cast to move ahead. That was the plan." Ajay Devgn also commented on the ongoing Marathi versus Hindi language debate in Maharashtra. ‘Aata Maajhi Satakli': Ajay Devgn SHUTS Down Marathi-Hindi Row With Iconic Singham Line

Ajay Devgn addresses the Marathi-Hindi language row with his iconic 'Aata Maajhi Satakli' line at the Son of Sardaar 2 trailer launch, winning hearts online. At the much-anticipated trailer launch of Son of Sardaar 2, Ajay Devgn stole the spotlight not just with his film but with a sharp-witted remark that lit up the room and social media alike. In response to a question about the ongoing Marathi versus Hindi language debate in Maharashtra, Devgn leaned into his Singham roots and declared with a smirk, 'The only answer I can give about the language thing is — 'Aata Maajhi Satakli'," while striking the iconic pose from Singham. His punchline may have been brief, but it struck a powerful chord, offering a moment of levity in the midst of a divisive cultural storm that's been brewing in Maharashtra. The state has become ground zero for a linguistic turf war, where demands for prioritising Marathi have clashed with the everyday realities of a multilingual urban population. At the heart of the controversy are allegations against political groups like Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), who are reportedly pressuring businesses and individuals to favour Marathi in signage and communication. The debate has raised critical questions about linguistic identity, inclusivity, and the role of Hindi in one of India's most cosmopolitan states. Veteran playback singer Udit Narayan weighed in with a balanced take, telling IANS, 'We live in Maharashtra and it is my 'Karma Bhoomi'. So, the language here is also important. Along with that, all the languages in our country are equally important." His response subtly highlighted India's rich linguistic diversity without picking sides. Meanwhile, entrepreneur and Janhvi Kapoor's rumoured beau, Shikhar Pahariya, delivered a poignant and widely-shared note on Instagram. Embracing the emotion of Marathi Asmita, or Marathi pride, Shikhar wrote, 'It is deep, emotional, and rooted in our way of life." But he was quick to caution, 'That pride cannot come at the cost of others' dignity… We cannot keep a language alive through fear." Drawing from his own roots in Solapur, he pointed out the double standards in how migrants to Maharashtra are treated versus how Marathi speakers are welcomed across India. 'Imagine if they were made to feel unwelcome there," he mused, condemning the use of force to impose linguistic preferences. He signed off with a moving plea for unity: 'Let our Marathi Asmita shine through inclusion, not intimidation. Let us protect Marathi by celebrating it, not weaponising it." As the language debate continues to divide opinions, voices like Devgn, Narayan, and Pahariya offer a much-needed reminder: pride in one's language should unite, not divide.
