SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — A man is currently hospitalized with critical injuries after a stabbing on 18th Street, according to the Sioux City Police Department. In a Thursday release, the Sioux City Police Department said that they responded to a call about a stabbing just after 3 a.m. on Thursday morning. Police said that the call brought them to the 800 block of 18th Street, where they discovered a man who had been stabbed in his upper body. Officials provided life-saving aid to the victim before eventually transferring him to a local hospital. The victim is not being named at this time. Police said no one has been arrested in connection to the stabbing and that no other details will be released at this time. SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — The Sioux City Police Department is asking the for the public's help in locating a missing 10-year-old. According to the Sioux City Police Department, they are looking for a 10-year-old who was last seen on Tuesday at around 7 p.m. Officials identified the missing boy as Lyndrick Griffin. He was last seen in the area of the 2800 block of West 4th Street and is described as a Native American who is 5'2″ and around 60 pounds. He should have a red cast on his right arm. According to the Sioux City Police Department, there is a phishing scam going around claiming that victims owe the Iowa DMV money due to a violation. The scam claims that there is an outstanding traffic ticket that needs to be paid or else your vehicle registration will be suspended, amongst other claims. The number provided by the SCPD that this text message is coming from is a +63 number and according to the police department, this indicates the text message is coming from the Philippines and not the state of Iowa. Be cautious of unexpected text messages: Don't click on any links or respond to messages from unknown senders. Never click on links: Avoid clicking on links in text messages, especially if they seem suspicious or ask for personal information. Verify the sender: If you're unsure about the message's legitimacy, contact the company or organization directly through their official website or phone number. Block or report suspicious numbers: If you receive a suspicious text message, block the sender and report it to your phone provider or the FTC. Use strong passwords and enable multi-factor authentication: This can help protect your accounts from unauthorized access. Stay informed about common scam techniques: Familiarize yourself with the latest phishing tactics to recognize and avoid them. The Woodbury County Treasurer said they've gotten more than 40 calls from residents concerned about the messages. SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — The second, annual 'June Can Jam' commences June 1 with the Sioux City Fire Rescue eager to defend their title against the Sioux City Police Department. During the 'June Can Jam,' folks can donate canned goods to either the police or the fire department before heading to the Siouxland Soup Kitchen. For those that don't want to travel to donate the canned goods, they can donate via Venmo – just be sure to include the comment 'fire' or 'police' to show who you're supporting. Officials explained that it's a friendly competition for a good cause. Tom Gill with the Sioux City Police Department. 'We joke about this being a friendly competition, which it is, but in the entity that gets the most out of it is the community,' said Officer Donette Sassman. 'So, if everyone can come together and help out both of us, the big winner will be the community.' The competition continues until June 30! The winners will be awarded a trophy.
