Saint-Étienne's Ibrahim Sissoko joins Bochum

AS Saint-Étienne forward Ibrahim Sissoko (29) will leave the club upon the expiry of his deal at the end of this month to join German side VfL Bochum. Sissoko, one of the key players of Les Verts' promotion back to Ligue 1 in the 2023/24 season, featured less regularly last season. He notably missed a chunk of the season for a violent challenge in a Coupe de France fixture, whilst his minutes were also limited by the arrival of Lucas Stassin, brought in to lead the line. Advertisement Saint-Étienne, who have now dropped back into Ligue 2, have opted against extending the Malian's deal. He therefore leaves on a free transfer and he has immediately found a new club. He has joined Bochum, who will play their football in the Bundesliga 2 next season. The duration of his contract has not been revealed by the German club. At Sainté, Sissoko scored 16 goals in 53 appearances. GFFN | Luke Entwistle

Former Spartan center signs on to play with Oklahoma City Thunder in NBA Summer League

Mady Sissoko was a mainstay in Michigan State's basketball program since he arrived on campus in 2020. The Mali native spent four years in the MSU program before transferring to Cal for his fifth season. While his tenure at Michigan State did not always go great, and some things were left to be desired, Sissoko has always been a fan favorite within Spartan nation. Even after he went to Cal, Spartan fans made sure to support their former center. Now, after the conclusion of the 2025 NBA Draft, players are signing on with NBA teams as undrafted free agents to participate in the NBA Summer League. Sissoko found his home for the summer as he tries to latch on to an NBA franchise. According to Jon Chepkevich of Draft Express, Sissoko has signed on to join the Oklahoma City Thunder for summer league, where he will look to play his way into a professional contract. Sissoko is a 6-foot-9, 250 pound center that boosts a 7-foot-3 wingspan and 9-foot-2 standing reach. In one season at Cal he averaged 8.3 points and 8.2 rebounds and 1.1 blocks, and in four seasons at MSU, he combined for 2.8 points and 3.7 rebounds. Cal stuns Virginia Tech in double OT in ACC Tournament 1st round

Andrej Stojakovic scored 29, Mady Sissoko and Rytis Petraitis each posted double-doubles and California rallied to beat Virginia Tech 82-73 in double overtime in Tuesday's first round of the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament. The 15th-seeded Golden Bears (14-18) will play No. 7 seed Stanford on Wednesday in a second-round matchup between former Pac-12 rivals. Cal was coming off a 112-110 four-overtime loss at Notre Dame in Saturday's regular-season finale. Sissoko scored the first two baskets in the second overtime and Stojakovic polished off an 8-0 run to give the Golden Bears the lead for good. Stojakovic made 11 of 20 shots with three 3-pointers for the Golden Bears. Petraitis finished with 16 points and 10 rebounds, while Sissoko scored 12 with 10 boards. DJ Campbell didn't have a basket but made 10 of 12 free throws. Brandon Rechsteiner scored 19 off the bench to pace the 10th-seeded Hokies (13-19). Tobi Lawal totaled 17 points and 12 rebounds. Jaydon Young missed all 11 of his 3-point attempts and scored 12. Rechsteiner buried a 3-pointer with 27 seconds remaining in regulation after Virginia Tech had missed eight straight from beyond the arc to give the Hokies their first lead of the second half at 60-59. Campbell was fouled with five seconds left and he made the second one to send it to OT. Virginia Tech took a four-point lead in the first OT, but Petraitis followed two free throws and a layup to pull Cal even at 65 with 1:40 left. Stojakovic sent it to a second OT tied at 67 with two late free throws. It was the first double-overtime game in the first round of the tournament since Wake Forest beat Georgia Tech 114-112 in 2007.
