Siva Shakthi Datta, legendary Telugu lyricist and father of celebrated composer MM Keeravani, passed away at the age of 92 in Hyderabad on Monday. Datta had been struggling with age-related issues for some time. Chiranjeevi took to X (formerly twitter), and confirmed the news with a heartfelt message. He wrote, 'The news that Sri Siva Shakthi Datta, a painter, scholar of the Sanskrit language, writer, storyteller, and multifaceted genius, has attained divine union has left me deeply shocked. Praying to the Almighty that his soul finds peace. I express my profound condolences to my friend Keeravani garu and his family members.' Director Sampath Nandi took to X and posted, 'Siva Sakthi Dutta garu…A towering legacy etched in every Telugu always cherish each word of Shanti 🙏🏾' Actor Teja Sajja, meanwhile, wrote on social media, 'Deeply saddened by the demise of Siva Shakthi Datta Garu. I feel lucky to have worked with him. A great loss for all of us. Will miss him. May his soul Rest In Peace.' About Siva Shakthi Datta Datta, born Koduri Subbarao in Kovvu, near Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh, in 1932, was a lyricist, screenwriter, and painter. He penned iconic lyrics for films like Baahubali, RRR, Magadheera, HanuMan, Sye, Rajanna, and Sri Ramadasu. Some of his songs include Anjandri Theme Song, Amma Avani, Raamam Raghavam, Nalla Nallani Kalla and Agni Skalana, Mannela Thintivira. Datta began his career under the pen name Kamalesh before embracing the name Siva Shakthi Datta. Once his love for cinema took him to Chennai in Tamil Nadu and then Madras, he assisted directors and attempted to make a film called Pillanagrovi. This led to the 1988 film Janaki Ramudu, in which he also worked as a screenwriter with K Raghavendra Rao, who would often trust him with the lyrics of his films. In 2007, Datta directed the film Chandrahas. Fans and celebrities alike took to social media to mourn his death. His funeral will be held in Hyderabad on Tuesday.

Veteran lyricist Siva Shakthi Datta died on Monday night at his Manikonda residence in Hyderabad. He was 92 years old. Apart from being a lyricist, he was also a screenwriter, painter, director and producer in Telugu cinema. Composer MM Keeravani, who scored music for 'Baahubali' films and all other SS Rajamouli films, is his Shakthi Datta is the elder brother of writer Vijayendra Prasad, father of SS Rajamouli. Several years ago, he also directed a film titled 'Chandrahas'.Siva Shakthi Datta was born as Koduri Subbarao in 1932. He had a special love for the arts from a young age. Being a school drop out, he ran away from his home and joined Sir JJ School of Arts in Mumbai. After completing his diploma, he returned to his native place, Kovvur. During that phase, he was a painter with a pen name Kamalesh. Later, he changed his name to Siva Shakthi was a multi-faceted person, who learnt music, guitar, sitar and harmonium. Later in his career, he shifted to Madras and assisted a few directors. He then got introduced to legendary director K Raghavendra Rao.
