The Ciel in Dubai—which will be the world's tallest hotel once it is fully built, reaching over 1,197 feet high—is set to open its doors later this year as its construction nears completion. The Ciel will be set in the world's largest human-made marina—the Dubai Marina—offering 360-degree views of the Persian Gulf, including the Palm Jumeirah, Dubai's archipelago of human-made islands, and the Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest building. Boasting 1,004 rooms, including 147 suites, across 82 floors, guests at the Ciel can soak in panoramic views through floor-to-ceiling glass windows. The hotel will also feature the world's highest infinity swimming pool set around 1,004 feet in the sky, as well as a 1,158 feet-high "sky restaurant" and an "atrium sky garden" spanning 12 levels. This was according to a statement from the China Railway 18th Bureau Group of Dubai (CR18BG), the contractor behind the hotel, according to local media. The construction of the hotel, which is slated to open at the end of this year, has reached different stages. The installation of guest room furniture was also said to be 45 percent completed, while the fit-out of the leisure deck has seen at least 40 percent progress, according to April-May updates shared by the developer. Designed by NORR—the architectural firm behind the Atlantis The Palm hotel complex located at the heart of the Palm Jumeirah—once completed, the Ciel will usurp the current tallest hotel in the world, the 1,169 foot-high Gevora hotel, which is also in Dubai. Set on the 76th floor of Ciel will be the infinity pool—the Tattu Sky Pool. This forms part of the Tattu Dubai restaurant, bar and lounge complex spanning three floors of the hotel. The Tattu restaurant will be housed on the 74th level, while the Tattu Sky Lounge is found at the 81st floor, according to the venue's website. A rendering of the infinity pool at the Ciel in Dubai. The Ciel is not the only major skyscraper in the works. Last week, over in North America, Canada welcomed its first ever "supertall" building in Toronto. Supertall skyscrapers are buildings that stand 300 meters (around 984 feet) or higher, according to the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat. The construction of Canada's One Bloor West building, which is designed by Foster + Partners, the architectural firm founded by British architect Norman Foster, hit the 300-meter mark, officially becoming the country's first supertall building. Once it is finished, the skyscraper will be Canada's tallest residential building and its second-tallest human-made structure after the CN Tower. Do you have a travel-related video or story to share? Fluidra Expands Its Role in Aquatic Sports With Four International Projects Worth €10 Million

Company to build pools in Paraguay, Italy, Romania and India Innovative, sustainable solutions strengthen Fluidra's starring role in high-performance events BARCELONA, Spain, May 22, 2025--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Fluidra, a global leader in connected equipment and solutions for the pool and wellness sector, expanding its role in aquatic sports with four new projects in Paraguay, Italy, Romania and India valued at over €10 million. In Paraguay, Fluidra is delivering a turnkey project for the future Olympic Aquatic Center, which is set to host the Asunción Junior Pan American Games from August 9 to 23, 2025. The company is building an Olympic pool for water polo and artistic swimming using SkyPool modular panels, a flexible construction solution designed for both new and existing infrastructures. The pool will also feature the Bulkhead system, a mobile platform that divides the pool into separate zones for greater versatility. Fluidra is also constructing a diving pool underpinned by Sparger technology. This system releases high-pressure air from the pool floor to make bubbles, enhancing safety by cushioning athletes' landings. Both pools include design, installation, supervision and commissioning of water treatment and heating systems, along with competition equipment for swimming and diving. Fluidra will also provide on-site maintenance during the event to ensure peak performance throughout the competition. In Italy, the company is building two competition pools for the 2026 Mediterranean Games in Taranto. This project includes an indoor eight-lane pool and an outdoor ten-lane pool, both equipped with SkyPool and Bulkhead technology. Designed by the MDU Architetti studio, the venue combines sustainability with urban regeneration while honoring the city's coastal landscape. Supporting Sports In Romania, Fluidra has been selected to design and build seven pools as part of a new aquatic complex in Târgu Secuiesc, the largest public investment in the city's modern history. Slated to open by the end of 2025, the center is designed to promote sports, enhance public well-being and boost tourism, and will include a competition pool, training pool, recreational pool, kiddie pool and three circular spas. The turnkey contract covers mechanical, electrical and plumbing installations, as well as competition equipment, ensuring a high-quality facility for both sports and wellness. Meanwhile, in India, Fluidra's local subsidiary, Fluidra India, is spearheading the design of a competition pool near Jowai as part of the Wahiajer Stadium renovation. Built with SkyPool technology, the project includes a complete turnkey solution that optimizes efficiency in both construction and long-term maintenance. "We're proud to play a role in creating world-class venues for some of the most important events in global aquatic sports," said Thorsten Muck, General Manager of Fluidra's Commercial Pool Division. "These projects reflect our long-term commitment to the sport and our drive to deliver sustainable, high-performance solutions that elevate the athlete experience and maximize facility performance. They also reinforce our ambition to remain a leading force in the international aquatic landscape."
