A look at road closures in Ottawa on July 1. (City of Ottawa/website) The City of Ottawa and Canadian Heritage are urging people to plan their route if they plan to head to Canada Day festivities at LeBreton Flats or in downtown Ottawa. There will be road closures and parking restrictions around LeBreton Flats, Parliament Hill, the Supreme Court of Canada and downtown Ottawa. Here is what you need to know about travelling to downtown Ottawa on July 1. THE CANADIAN PRESS/Justin Tang (Justin Tang/The Canadian Press) Travel tips The City of Ottawa recommends you give yourself extra time to get to Canada Day festivities. There will be some bus detours in downtown Ottawa due to road closures. Para Transpo customers travelling to LeBreton Flats on Canada Day will be dropped off at the designated Para Transpo drop off/pick up point on Vimy Place across from the War Museum's group entrance. OC Transpo OC Transpo is celebrating Canada Day with free transit on the O-Train, buses and Para Transpo all day. O-Train Line 1 will operate from 6 a.m. to 2 a.m., with enhanced frequency in the evening. Lines 2 and 4 will operate from 7 a.m. to 1 a.m., one hour longer than normal. OC Transpo buses will operate on a special Canada Day schedule. Additional buses will be added to boost service on routes. Pimisi Station will be open for transit riders. OC Transpo says trains will temporarily bypass Pimisi Station between 9:30 p.m. until the conclusion of the fireworks. Customers can get off at Lyon or Bayview stations to watch the fireworks. When leaving LeBreton Flats at the conclusion of the fireworks, OC Transpo says you will have the following options: Walk south on Booth Street to reach eastbound O-Train Line 1 service at Pimisi Station or special westbound bus service on Albert Street. Walk east on Wellington Street to get downtown or to reach Lyon Station for O Train Line 1 service in both directions. Walk west on Wellington Street and an adjoining pathway to reach Bayview Station for O-Train Lines 1 and 2. Here is the schedule for the 2025 Barrie Airshow Aircrafts will be on full display this weekend as the 2025 Barrie Airshow takes over the Barrie skyline. Kicking off the festivities over the weekend is Muskoka Extreme Water Show around 12:00 p.m. on Kempenfelt Bay by Heritage Park. Starting at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, the airshow is expected to begin and has a wide range of aircrafts participating. The list of 2025 civilian performers include: Northern Stars, three-plane precision aerobatic team flying the Pitts Special Timmerman's Legends of Flight P-51 Mustang and Vought FG-1D Corsair Canadian Harvard Aircraft Association featuring a four-plane demonstration Edenvale Classic Aircraft Foundation featuring a Tiger Moth and a PT-26 Cornell T-33 Red Knight brought to you by RCAF 441 (Huronia) Wing and Rudy Mak Surveying Solo aerobatic pilot Trevor Rafferty flying the Pitts Model 12 Show Cat Wing Walking featuring Mike & Sam Trygvasson brought to you by the Downtown Barrie BIA The list of military performers include: CF-18 Tactical Demonstration Team Canadian Armed Forces Skyhawks Parachute Team CH-146 Griffon helicopter demonstration from the 400 Tactical Helicopter Squadron. Open Air Dunlop kicks off their summer season as well featuring a variety of activates in downtown Barrie including the air show ground display at Heritage Park, Meridian Place and Dunlop Street.
