He said: 'The summer is a busy period as people look to maximise their vacation time and travel to different destinations and our data shows that there's still time to get the best prices for flights to Colombo, Mumbai, Kuwait City and Muscat for the month of August' 'Not only are these locations short-distance flights from the UAE but our survey shows that 48 percent are choosing destinations where their money goes further. 'Also, 85 percent said they would be willing to change the day or week to save money on their summer vacation, making these cities popular due to the reasonable exchange rate of the UAE Dirham against local currencies and better value for their vacations.' UAE travellers need to be wary that those with local bank cards are set to pay more when making transactions abroad. Starting September 22, UAE banks will raise the foreign transaction fee to 3.14 percent on all international purchases and ATM withdrawals made using credit or debit cards. Trivandrum makes global travel list: Among Top 10 Destinations for 2025 — now more accessible from Malaysia
KUALA LUMPUR, July 24 — From golden beaches and ancient temples to rejuvenating oil massages, Trivandrum is quickly becoming one of Asia's top wellness and retreat destinations. Recently named one of the Top 10 Most Popular Places to Visit in 2025 by UK-based platform Skyscanner, the capital of Kerala — often called 'God's own country' — is drawing attention for all the right reasons. Adding to its appeal is the increased number of direct flights now connecting Kuala Lumpur to Trivandrum, making it easier than ever for Malaysian travellers to plan their South Indian escape. Wellness the Ayurvedic way Kerala is widely regarded as the birthplace of Ayurveda, and Trivandrum is where this ancient healing tradition is deeply rooted. Whether you're on a wellness journey or simply need to recharge, the city offers a range of authentic Ayurvedic experiences at hospitals, retreats and specialised centres. Here's what to expect: Panchakarma therapy — a full-body detox involving five stages of purification to cleanse the body and mind. Abhyanga massage — a warm herbal oil massage that improves circulation, reduces stress, and promotes deep relaxation. Shirodhara — a calming treatment where medicated oil is poured over the forehead to relieve tension, insomnia and anxiety. Herbal remedies and diet plans — personalised according to your body type or dosha (Vata, Pitta or Kapha). Yoga and meditation — often included as part of wellness packages to enhance both physical and mental clarity. Whether it's a one-day rejuvenation or a week-long retreat, Trivandrum's Ayurvedic offerings combine medical tradition, spiritual balance and serene surroundings — all in one place. Backwaters, beaches and scenic escapes Trivandrum's natural landscape is as calming as its wellness offerings. A cruise through the city's backwaters — quiet canals and lagoons lined with coconut palms — is best enjoyed aboard a traditional ketuvallam (houseboat). Once used for transporting spices and rice, these wooden boats now serve as floating cottages with bedrooms, bathrooms and onboard meals. For ocean lovers, Kovalam Beach is a must-visit. Its curved shoreline, gentle waves and breezy charm make it ideal for sunbathing or a dip in the sea. Climb the nearby Vizhinjam Lighthouse for sweeping views of the Arabian Sea — especially stunning at sunset. Temples and timeless charm Also known as Thiruvananthapuram, the city is deeply rooted in Hindu culture and mythology. The iconic Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple, said to be one of the world's richest temples, remains a major attraction with its towering gopuram and intricate design. Just around the corner, Chalai Bazaar is the perfect spot to shop for spices, jewellery and handicrafts — and don't forget to grab a classic South Indian coffee at one of the 14 Indian Coffee House branches across town. Getting there is easier than ever Malaysia Airlines launched direct flights from Kuala Lumpur to Trivandrum in 2023 and currently operates up to five times weekly, offering greater accessibility and convenience for travellers. Passengers who book exclusively via or the mobile app can also enjoy greater flexibility, including free cancellations with refunds, unlimited complimentary rebooking, child discounts, and special offers on fares and add-on services. Little-known Spanish city is 'Cuba of Europe' and looks like dreamy 'film set'
A travel blogger has admitted his latest trip to Spain has 'completely changed' how he sees the country after he visited one little-known town he claims is the 'Cuba of Europe' A seasoned traveller has admitted his latest European adventure has "completely changed" how he sees Spain, prompting him to ask why nobody had ever told him about a little-known town before. Rob Adcock, who documents his worldwide trips on TikTok, shared his experience after visiting an Atlantic coast city he believes should be talked about more. Heading through the destination 's sun-kissed streets, Rob gushed that he felt "like an extra on a movie set". He revealed: "Someone described it to me as being like the 'Cuba of Europe' and they are not wrong - because my camera roll has never taken such a beating." Teasing his followers by refraining from giving away its location at first, Rob offered shots of the city's historic buildings, al fresco dining options and coastal backdrop. "It's by the sea so it's that little bit cooler than the other cities around it," he said. "And it's not an expensive place - it's the perfect mix of a city and a beach break." Rob added that accessibility is great, noting that "you can walk everywhere" as "nothing is too far", which enabled him to get around on foot rather than shelling out for expensive taxi journeys. "The nearest airport is a £4 train ride and you can fly here through Skyscanner for just £34 in the middle of summer," he said, sharing a screenshot of an online flight booking as proof. Rob confessed: "I couldn't have told you anything about this place before I got here, but now I will not stop whanging on about it to anyone who will listen." But where is this haven? "Get it in the chat," he urged. "[Tell them] you're going to Cadiz for the weekend." Writing in response, one TikTok user revealed they were equally as impressed: "I was there for a day's stop on a cruise. Went nuts taking pics of old doors. Fell in love with the place." A second person noted: "The fish market is amazing too, great bars and restaurants nearby to eat all the delicious seafood and the chicharron de Cadiz is so yummy with a glass or two of Manzanilla or Fino." A third praised the content: "Thanks this looks amazing and right up my street." Whilst a fourth shared: "Great surfing there!" Cadiz is the southernmost point of mainland Spain and mainland Europe. The city's dedicated tourism website states: "Its location has determined its clear maritime vocation and its exclusive dedication to the sea since the earliest days of its founding. Considered the oldest city in the West, the Phoenicians, Greeks, Romans, and Arabs all passed through here, and Spain's first democratic Constitution was drafted here." It adds: "The city, popularly known as the "Silver Cup", has an unmistakable seafaring flavour, and highlights the grace and hospitality of its inhabitants, as demonstrated by its famous carnivals; very interesting monuments such as the Cathedral , the Walls, the Parish of Santa Cruz, the Genovés Park, the Puerta de la Caleta, etc. "All of them places of undoubted charm, to which we must add its gastronomy and its famous and beautiful beaches, such as La Caleta, Santa María del Mar, or La Victoria."
