Amazon's £31 paddling pool is 'perfect for adults'
Amazon shoppers say it is a great way to kick back, relax and stay cool in the hot weather With the hot weather baking most of the UK, people are looking for any way to cope in the soaring temperatures that are expected to pass 30C in some places. Most parts of the UK have currently fallen under a heat health warning, with many Brits shopping around for ways to keep cool. People keen to tackle the sudden temperature spikes and make the most of their gardens could consider buying a paddling pool. Not only is it a great way to keep cool if you have the space available, but it can also provide kids with endless hours of summer fun. Amazon is one of many retailers that have a wide range that can be delivered quickly if your local shops already have cleared shelves. A popular choice is the Bestway Family Inflatable Swimming Pool (priced at £30.95). However, there are a handful of alternatives you could check out, too, like the Bestway 8ft Paddling Pool (Argos, £40) or the Intex Swim Centre Square Family Inflatable Lounge Pool (£34, Smyths Toys). But Amazon's pool is not just for kids, as grown-ups can enjoy it, too. The built-in seats and 'convenient' cup holders make supervising playtime a little more comfortable, Amazon says. On Amazon's website, it claims shoppers can order today (July 1) and have the pool dropped off as early as tomorrow (July 2). Amazon's pool is even cheaper than the exact same one coming directly from Bestway, which costs £54.99. Shoppers who have already bought the pool tend to add a matching cover to their Amazon order as well, such as this £10 Bestway Swimming Pool Cover, which protects the paddling pool from "dirt and debris accumulating in the pool". Plenty of people were showering the pool with praise in the reviews. One said: "We bought this as a good compromise between a tiny kiddies paddling pool and a big sturdy pool. Happily fits a couple of adults and a few kids. Husband loves the cup holder. I think he may have spent more time in the pool than the kids!" Another added: "Best paddling pool we've had, love the little seats and headrests and cup holders." A third wrote: "Love this pool. It's great for cooling off in the summer heat." Some did experience issues. One claimed that the pool "goes down after an hour" and another warned that it was "prone to punctures". A third added to the criticisms: "Easy to set up, started to fill it up and the top section had deflated in 10 mins, so couldn't be used. It is a good size and design, just a shame didn't get to use it." However, the bulk of all reviews were positive. Another shopper shared: "Didn't take long to inflate using a foot pump. It's been up six days now and is still fully inflated. Great pool, would fit four easily, although there are only two seats/cushions. But it's perfect for me. Lovely to cool off in with a glass of red on a hot sunny day." And, a fifth happy customer joked in their review: "This should not be shared with children! I used this all summer in my tiny garden - so comfortable- perfect for sunbathing with a cocktail."

I tested paddling pools from £10 – the winner comes with unique feature and will keep kids entertained for hours
CHILDREN love water play and splashing around in a paddling pool will keep them cool and burn off excess energy on hot days. There are paddling pools to suit all ages, budgets and gardens - but if you don't want to spend a fortune, then you are in luck. 8 We have tested the best pools you can buy for £40 or less and there are lots of fun ones to choose from. From fast set options to a pool with basketball hoops for extra fun, here are my favourites: Intex Swim Centre Rectangular Inflatable Paddling Pool £24.99, Smyths Toys Age: 6 plus 8 This Intex pool is a good size and can hold a whopping 749 litres of water, so it's big enough for the whole family to enjoy. I liked the extra wide walls too, as you could lounge back on it and watch the kids play on a hot sunny day and it felt very comfy. It also comes with a repair patch in case of puncture. Overall, I thought this pool is a good option that would suit pretty much anyone and all for a wallet friendly price. Funsicle Turtle QuickSet Pool £30, Argos Age: 6 plus 8 A super cute pool, the kids were really excited when they saw the turtle blown up and ready for action. It's a quick set so super easy to get ready. You simply inflate the top ring and the pool rises as it fills with water. It took a minute to inflate and though the box says it takes ten minutes to fill, it definitely took a little longer than this - probably more like 25, but it was easy to do. It seems durable and is made from three-ply puncture resistant material. It can hold 757 litres of water and there's probably enough space for three kids to play in the water. It has a built in water sprayer too which provided hours of fun. For £30 I thought it was fun and good value. Performance: 5/5 Total: 10/10 Bestway Family Paddling Pool with Basketball Game £39.99, Amazon Age: 3 plus 8 The basketball hoops added a whole new layer of fun to my kids' excitement when I blew up this paddling pool. They couldn't wait to jump in and were immediately diving in and scoring hoops whilst they played. Handy that it came with two blow up balls as well. Although this pool is one of more expensive ones in our test, it did keep the children entertained for longer. My eldest son Jacob, 10, was also more entertained in this than he was in the plain pools. This also comes with a repair patch, which I think will come in handy as they were jumping around in a lot so probably only a matter of time before there is a puncture. Performance: 5/5 Price: 4/5 Total: 9/10 Home Swimming Pool £21.26, Temu Age: 6 plus 8 This two-ring rectangular pool was easy to blow up and it was put up and filled with water in less than half an hour. It's a decent size for the price, though it did sag a bit quite quickly. After a couple of hours quite a bit of air had come out and I had to pump a bit more in. However, the two large outer rings were super comfy to relax against and it's a great price." Performance: 3/5 Price: 4/5 Total: 7/10 Intex 1.8m Easy Set Paddling Pool £29.99, The Range Age: 3 plus 8 Simply blow up the ring and this pool builds as it fills with water. It's not so labour intensive as others but it did take longer to fill - around 30 minutes from start to finish and whilst waiting, the kids were desperate to jump in. It feels robust. The idea walls are made with three separate layers for strength. It's good for smaller children, you can probably get two or three playing in it at once, and it measures around 20 inches deep. It also stayed up in the garden for several days with no maintenance required, other than fishing out grass and leaves. Performance: 4/5 Price: 4/5 Total: 8/10 Polar Pals Inflatable Pool with Play Centre £29.99, Bestway Store Age: 2 plus 8 What a fun looking pool. There's only a little bit of water in the pool area but it's ideal for smaller kids who prefer running in and out of the water than fully submerging themselves. It has a couple of games to keep little ones entertained too - there's a ring toss game using the narwhal's horn and seal's nose and you can move the seal around to make it harder or easier. Thee's also an inflatable penguin and two foam fish toys for kids to splash with or they can try and feed them into the dolphine's mouth. Super cute and not to huge to store. Great option for smaller gardens too. Performance: 5/5 Price: 4/5 Total: 9/10 Bestway 40inch Safari Themed Kids Inflatable Paddling Pool £9.99, Bestway Store Age: 2 plus 8 Small and without the bells and whistles of some of the others, but for less than a tenner it's a cute design and it held up well. The three ring construction increases stability and reduces the risks of the sides buckling in and it comes with a repair patch, though it seemed reasonably sturdy. Easy to put up and filled in a matter of minutes. Great option for the price and for smaller gardens - little children are sure to love the cute safari design.

Nintendo Switch 2 – live: Where to buy a console in the UK
A week on from launch, and the Nintendo Switch 2 is still flying off the shelves. So far this week, I've seen short-lived restocks at Amazon, EE, Very and ShopTo. Nintendo and Currys both went live earlier today, but they've already sold out. Very has now dropped stock twice this week. Both times, consoles sold out in just a couple of minutes. EE briefly made its Mario Kart World bundle available to everyone, but that didn't stick around either, and has already disappeared from the site. Right now, the only live option is a pricier bundle for existing EE mobile customers, which includes the console, the game and a 12-month Switch Online subscription. More stock is expected this week, with Smyths Toys likely to be the next retailer to go live. I'll keep updating this page with all the latest drops as they happen, so stay tuned. EE: In stock now for existing customers, delivered within 1-3 working days Smyths Toys: Expected to restock 12-14 June Nintendo Switch 2 specs The Switch 2 might look familiar, but there's a lot going on underneath. It's powered by a new custom Nvidia chip, so games don't just load faster, they look better and run more smoothly. You get 12GB of RAM (up from 4GB on the original Switch), and most of that goes straight into powering games, not just background stuff. The screen is still LCD, not OLED, but it's bigger at 7.9in and has 1080p resolution. It supports HDR and a 120Hz refresh rate. Colours pop more, and motion looks buttery-smooth in handheld mode. There's also DLSS upscaling built in, so older games look better. Sadly, while it supports variable refresh rates, it doesn't work when docked – just in handheld mode. Nintendo Switch 2 price The Nintendo Switch 2 on its own costs £399.99, and the main bundle with Mario Kart World costs £429.99. Buying the bundle saves you £40 compared to picking up the game separately, so it's better value if you're planning to grab it anyway. No big discounts yet – it's not even been out a week, after all – but some retailers have larger, more expensive bundles. These include the new Switch 2 camera (£49, the Pro controller (£74.99, and the official carry case and screen protector (£20.99, as well as extra games and accessories. Nintendo Switch 2 launch games There are plenty of new Nintendo Switch 2 games at launch. Mario Kart World is the big one, but you've also got upgraded versions of Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, plus mammoth games like Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition and Hogwarts Legacy – two games that really test the console's muscle. Other launch day games include Hades 2, Split Fiction, Sonic X Shadow Generations, Street Fighter 6, Survival Kids and Suikoden I & II HD Remaster. You've also got Yakuza 0: Director's Cut, Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, and Deltarune Chapters 1–4, plus more niche picks like Fantasy Life i and Bravely Default: Flying Fairy HD. Civilization VII and No Man's Sky are here too, and Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour acts as a mini showcase for the new hardware. On top of that, loads of older Nintendo titles have been patched with free performance updates, and Wind Waker, F-Zero GX and Soul Calibur II are now available through the new Switch Online GameCube library. When will John Lewis restock the Nintendo Switch 2? John Lewis has been unusually quiet when it comes to the Nintendo Switch 2. The retailer didn't sell the console on launch day, and unlike Amazon, Very and ShopTo, it hasn't restocked it since. Even Amazon and Nintendo, which had brief restocks earlier this week, have seen at least something. John Lewis? Nada. The Switch 2 product page is still live, so it's likely more stock is on the way — but it's unclear when. I'm hoping very soon. For now, you can only get a Switch 2 at EE. Buy now at EE Alex Lee11 June 2025 13:16 Very Switch 2 stock sells out in minutes And it's already gone. Not even five minutes and both the standalone console and the bundle have sold out. Either that, or Very's just unlisted them. I'm hoping it's the latter. Again, the console is still in stock at EE, and I'm expecting Smyths Toys to restock soon. Alex Lee11 June 2025 13:07 The Nintendo Switch 2 is back in stock at Very Very is delivering the goods for a second time this week. The retailer has just restocked both the standalone console and the Mario Kart World bundle. It will be delivered next week on Friday, 20 June, so you do have a bit of a wait. Buy now at Very Alex Lee11 June 2025 13:02 I've reviewed the best Nintendo Switch 2 cases Managed to pick up a Nintendo Switch 2 console this morning? You'll want to shove it in a case to protect it from the daily grind. While Nintendo's official carry case is out of stock everywhere, I've tested the best third-party Nintendo Switch 2 cases that'll do the job. Best Nintendo Switch 2 cases, tried and tested The Nintendo Switch 2 is an expensive piece of kit, so you need a case to protect it on the go Alex Lee11 June 2025 12:46 The Switch 2 is now out of stock at Nintendo, but it's still available at Smyths Toys And it's gone now at Nintendo, too. That means the only place where you can buy a Nintendo Switch 2 is at EE, and you need to be an existing customer with a contract to buy it. Smyths Toys could drop soon, however, so I'll be keeping my eyes peeled. Buy now at EE Alex Lee11 June 2025 12:15 Currys Nintendo Switch 2 bundles have now sold out It was a good stint, but the Nintendo Switch 2 and all the bundles have now sold out at Currys. Three hours, though – that's good going. For now, the only place where you can buy a Nintendo Switch 2 is at the My Nintendo Store and EE (if you have an existing contract). Buy now at Nintendo Buy now at EE Alex Lee11 June 2025 12:09 Do the Nintendo Switch 2 bundles offer better value? Not really, but that doesn't mean it's not worth it. None of the bundles floating around right now come with any actual savings. You're basically paying the same as you would if you added everything to your basket separately. Currys has a bunch of bundles with extra games, accessories and storage, but they're more about convenience than value. You're not getting a deal – you're just getting everything in one go. If you were planning to buy all the extras anyway, it saves you a bit of faff. Buy now at Currys Buy now at Nintendo Buy now at EE Alex Lee11 June 2025 12:07 Who will deliver the Nintendo Switch 2 the quickest? If you're still hunting for a Nintendo Switch 2 and don't want to wait weeks to start playing, some retailers are offering faster delivery than others. Currys is your best bet right now. It has the console in stock and is offering free next-day home delivery, or free in-store collection within two days. Nintendo also has stock, with delivery taking around three to four days. EE is still selling the console to existing mobile customers, with delivery typically within one to three working days. Alex Lee11 June 2025 11:37 EE goes back to existing customers only And EE has now sold out of the bundle that was open to everyone. The bundle for existing mobile customers is still in stock, however. For £20 upfront and £22 a month over 24 months, you get the Nintendo Switch 2 console with 256GB of storage, a digital copy of Mario Kart World, a 12-month Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership, and 24-month Gamer's and Video Data Passes. The data passes are a bit irrelevant for the Switch 2, but it's nice to have. It means you can stream and play games on your phone without using up your data. The cost is added to your monthly EE bill if you're already on a pay‑monthly plan, and delivery takes 1–3 working days. Alex Lee11 June 2025 11:07

Nintendo Switch 2 launch live – I've got my console, here's how to buy yours
After months – no, years – of rumours and industry chatter, the Nintendo Switch 2 is very nearly here. Launching at midnight tonight, units began arriving in journalists' hands earlier today – including mine – and soon you'll be able to get one too. Queues are forming outside shops across the country, and the countdown has officially begun. While it's too late to pre-order, shops across the country are getting ready to fling open their doors. Every Smyths Toys store will open at 12am, with a small amount of extra stock for anyone willing to queue. Over on Oxford Street, Currys is hosting a midnight event too – but it's strictly for customers who've already pre-ordered from that branch. A few retailers are holding back stock for Thursday morning. Argos says it'll have consoles ready to collect from 6am, with same-day click-and-collect available nationwide. EE will have launch bundles too, but you'll need to be an existing pay monthly customer to get in on the action. We're now just a couple of hours away, and retailers are getting ready to drop more Switch 2 stock overnight and into the early morning. If you're still trying to secure one, I'll be updating this blog with every restock as it happens. Stay tuned. Nintendo Switch 2 stock at UK retailers But that's not all... But while those five Smyths Toys stores are opening up at 11am, every other Smyths Toys shop will be opening at midnight. There will be limited walk-in stock, so get queueing. If you're lucky, you'll be able to walk away with a console right there and then. If you're queuing up, send me a picture on Instagram or X – I'd love to see the commotion. Alex Lee4 June 2025 22:29 How much does the Nintendo Switch 2 cost? The standalone console costs £395.99 in the UK. But if you want the Nintendo Switch 2 bundled with Mario Kart World, it'll cost £429.99. You can also get bundles that include the new camera and the pro camera (£555, Alex Lee4 June 2025 22:02 These five Smyths Toys stores open in an hour We're officially in countdown mode. In just one hour, five Smyths Toys stores will be opening early for launch night festivities, and if you're anywhere near one of them, it might be worth heading down. Doors open at 11pm at Boucher Road (Belfast), Glasgow, Stockport, Romford and Hull. There will be Mario Kart World demos to play, and the first 100 people through the door at each shop will get a free Nintendo-themed goodie bag. Oh, and there will be limited stock of the Nintendo Switch 2 available, too. Alex Lee4 June 2025 22:00 Mario Kart World review Tech writer Steve Hogarty spent six hours playing Mario Kart World – and he certainly had some thoughts (19 in fact). From dynamic weather effects to four-player mode, he's rounded up everything you need to know before it launches: Mario Kart World review: You need to know these things before it drops I found supersized vehicles, day-to-night racing, and Mariachi Waluigi – and that's just the start Alex Lee4 June 2025 21:30 Very's dropped a Nintendo Switch 2 bundle If you're looking to get your hands on the new console, along with the camera and pro controller, you're in luck because Very has just dropped a bundle containing the whole lot. But, I will say that it does cost £555. Alex Lee4 June 2025 21:06 Asda stock drop Some eagle-eyed readers are very kindly helping me while I balance booting up Mario Kart World with stock drops. Asda's George is selling Nintendo Switch 2 consoles. They'll arrive next week, but the stock is there. Pre-order now at George Alex Lee4 June 2025 17:59 A closer look at the unboxing I'm juggling unboxing this console and keeping an eye on stock, but if you want a closer look, here's the screen on the Nintendo Switch 2: The screen is larger than the original Switch, with nearly two extra inches on its predecessor. Alex Lee4 June 2025 17:14 My Nintendo Switch 2 console just arrived Many writers reported that they wouldn't receive a Nintendo Switch 2 console before the launch, so you can imagine how shocked I was when the doorbell went and, well: After months of covering the console, it feels surreal to have it in front of me. If you want to order a console, it won't arrive in time for launch day, but you can still get your hands on one: Alex Lee4 June 2025 16:42 How to prepare for the Nintendo Switch 2 launch If you're hoping to buy a Nintendo Switch 2 tonight, now's a good time to get everything ready. Make sure you're logged in to your retailer accounts, your payment details are saved, and delivery info is filled in. There's nothing worse than having to make an account when all you want to do is buy a console. Some sites (like the My Nintendo Store) will only let you buy the console if you have an active Switch Online membership, while others (like EE) require you to be a pay monthly customer. Alex Lee4 June 2025 15:41 Who's probably not worth checking at midnight? Very and ShopTo are both still taking pre-orders right now, with delivery scheduled for next week – 9 June at ShopTo and 13 June at Very. Since they're already in stock, they'll probably still be available at midnight, but nothing's likely to change. If you're aiming for launch day delivery, these aren't the ones to watch. Game? Don't bother, I say. After cancelling some pre-orders last week, its FAQ now says: 'We cannot guarantee there will be stock available in stores'. Right now, you can weirdly get a Switch 2 into your basket for £9,999. It might indicate a launch day restock, but who knows at this point. Alex Lee

Nintendo Switch 2 launch – live: I've just got my console, here's how to get yours
It's finally happening. The Nintendo Switch 2 launches at midnight tonight, and I've just received my console. After reports that Nintendo wouldn't send out consoles to journalists to preview, I've since got my hands on a brand new Nintendo Switch 2. I've been ripping open the box as I type out this update. If you want your own, it's a little late to preorder, but shops across the country are getting ready to fling open their doors. Every Smyths Toys will be open from 12am, with a small amount of extra stock for anyone who fancies queuing. Over on Oxford Street, Currys is running its own launch event, but it's strictly for customers who've already pre-ordered from the branch. A few retailers are holding back stock for Thursday morning. Argos says it'll have consoles ready to collect from 6am, with same-day click and collect available nationwide. EE will have Switch 2 bundles too, though you'll need to be an existing pay monthly customer to get in on the action. I've been chasing down Switch 2 stock for weeks, and it's safe to say availability is thinning out by the hour. If you've left it late, there's still a decent chance, but you'll need to move fast. I'll be updating this blog with every restock and bundle I can find, and the team and I are on the night shift tonight to catch anything that drops after dark. Nintendo Switch 2 stock at UK retailers A closer look at the unboxing I'm juggling unboxing this console and keeping an eye on stock, but if you want a closer look, here's the screen on the Nintendo Switch 2: The screen is larger than the original Switch, with nearly two extra inches on its predecessor. Alex Lee4 June 2025 15:00 Who's more likely to restock in the morning? Argos has confirmed it will go live at 6am with launch day stock for same-day click and collect, so set your alarm if you're planning to try there. Amazon is another one to watch. It had pre-order stock live for most of last week but hasn't restocked since the weekend. Based on how it's handled other console launches, I'm expecting stock to appear between 8am and 9:30am. Midnight feels unlikely. John Lewis has confirmed the console will be available to buy on 5 June, but hasn't said when. It doesn't typically drop stock overnight, so a morning release is a safe bet. Alex Lee4 June 2025 14:20 New Zealand and Day One update has entered the chat It's officially launch day in New Zealand, and people are already starting to receive their Nintendo Switch 2 consoles (or they're collecting them in-person). New Year's Eve energy. It also looks like the day one update has rolled out globally, so anyone who's managed to get a console early should now be able to upgrade their machine to play Mario Kart World. Alex Lee4 June 2025 13:48 Who's most likely to go live at midnight? If you're staying up for launch, Smyths is the most reliable bet. Every store across the UK and Ireland is opening at 12am, and there's a good chance it'll have stock online around the same time. The My Nintendo Store is also one to watch. There's been no formal announcement, but it's the official storefront – it has to go live at some point on Thursday. I'll be checking it at midnight just in case. Currys is a bit of a toss-up. It's holding a midnight launch at its Oxford Street store, which makes it possible the site could update too, but given the old listings said "pick up within 1 hour", there's a chance it's planning to go live in the morning for same-day click and collect. Still, I'll be checking overnight. Alex Lee4 June 2025 13:42 US retailers are reportedly cancelling some Switch 2 pre-orders There are reports that Switch 2 pre-orders are being cancelled across several US retailers, including Walmart, Target and Best Buy. Some customers have taken to Reddit and social media to say their orders were dropped without warning, just days before launch. Some believe it might be due to retailers overselling their allocated stock, or last-minute stock issues related to tariffs and shipping delays. Walmart has reportedly offered a few affected customers a $15 gift card by way of apology, and while GameStop posted saying it isn't cancelling orders, a few people have replied with screenshots saying otherwise. Right now, this only seems to be affecting US orders. Besides Game, I haven't seen any other orders getting cancelled. If you're in the US, you'll be able to pre-order a console at most major retailers tomorrow. I've got all the details in the article below: How to get a Nintendo Switch 2 from Best Buy, GameStop, Target and more Walmart, Best Buy, Target and GameStop will have Nintendo Switch 2 stock on launch day Alex Lee4 June 2025 13:02 John Lewis listings confirm launch day restock John Lewis has confirmed that the Switch 2 will be available to buy on launch day. Its listings now read: 'Pre-orders are now sold out. Available to buy from 5 June 2025.' That suggests a restock is definitely coming, though there's no exact time listed yet. John Lewis doesn't usually do midnight drops, so I'm expecting stock to go live sometime in the morning. If you're planning to try your luck, it's worth checking at around 7am – that's when the PS5 used to go live. Alex Lee4 June 2025 12:51 Will Amazon go live at midnight tonight? Amazon had Switch 2 pre-order stock live for most of last week, but it's all sold out now. It's hard to know if Amazon will have launch day stock – all of its pre-orders were scheduled to be delivered on Friday 6 June and Saturday 7 June, so its next wave of consoles might not arrive until the week after. If it does restock, I'm not expecting it to go live at midnight. Amazon doesn't typically do 12:01am launches. When the PS5 and Xbox Series X were released, it was dropped mid-morning at 8am, rather than overnight. Alex Lee
