G.I. Joe RISK Game Crushes Its Kickstarter Goal and Brings the Battle to Your Tabletop — GeekTyrant
Few franchises carry the same legendary status as G.I. Joe , and right now, fans have plenty to get hyped about. The iconic heroes are already making waves in comics thanks to Skybound's Energon Universe, sharing space with Transformers, and there's a big-screen crossover on the horizon. On top of that, Hasbro's G.I. Joe Classified series continues to deliver incredible figures and vehicles and as a collector, it's so hard for me to keep up. But now, the battle is heading to a new front: the tabletop. Renegade Game Studios and Hasbro have teamed up to bring fans Risk G.I. Joe: Special Missions , and the game has already obliterated its Kickstarter goal. This is not your standard game of Risk. Instead, it infuses the classic strategy experience with everything you love about G.I. Joe. Two to four players will align with either G.I. Joe or Cobra, completing missions and resolving plots to rack up objective points before time runs out. The game features five master scenarios that reveal different hotspots, keeping players guessing and on their toes every session. Depending on which faction you side with, you'll have a roster of 13 legendary leaders to choose from. For the Joes, expect to see Duke, Scarlett, Snake Eyes, and Cover Girl. On Cobra's side, villains like Cobra Commander, Destro, Baroness, and Serpentor will lead the charge. Oh, there are plenty of cool minatures. You'll command forces across the map with Joe Infantry and Cobra Troopers, backed by vehicles like Skystrikers, Rattlers, Wolverines, and H.I.S.S. Tanks. Tokens for the U.S.S. Flagg and Cobra Island add even more thematic flair to the battlefield. Originally planned as a standard pre-order, rising international costs and tariffs pushed the release to Kickstarter. Fans who pre-ordered aren't left out, though. Not only will they get the game, but they'll also score the Leaders Bonus Pack, which includes four new leaders—two from each faction, bringing fresh tactical options to the table. Among the new recruits are the Crimson Twins, who act as a single leader but can be in two places at once, creating some wild strategic opportunities. Shipwreck also joins the fight, unlocking new options for the U.S.S. Flagg. Meanwhile, Zarana and Jinx bring game-changing abilities that can disrupt enemy plans and gather vital intel. The 'Yo Joe!' tier nets you the game and the bonus pack for $70. There are no stretch goals, but retailers can pledge $140 for four copies of the game and four bonus packs. This game is shaping up to be an absolute must-have for G.I. Joe fans and strategy gamers alike. If you want to check out the full campaign—or back it while you can—you can find it right here. So, will you be joining the fight in Risk G.I. Joe: Special Missions?

50 Cent, Andrew Schulz, & More Allegedy Cast In Upcoming Street Fighter Movie, Fans Are Arleady Saying It's Going To Be Trash
Source: PhotosByBeanz / Capcom / Getty Images The first Street Fighter movie was a pure struggle, and based on the casting news for the new film based on Capcom's popular fighting game franchise, it already looks like it won't be any better. 1994's Street Fighter, a live-action movie starring an allegedly coked-up Jean-Claude Van Damme, set the bar very low for any movie studio to insert another coin and hit continue in hopes of delivering something worth our time, featuring our favorite world warriors. Outside of the anime films, we have seen some spinoffs, such as Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li, which also flopped hard. However, director Kitao Sakurai aims to deliver a proper Street Fighter film that fans of the fighting game franchise can be proud of. With the bar being in hell, Sakurai doesn't have to do much to drop a decent film based on the popular video game IP. Still, fans are beginning to worry that this movie is already doomed before the cameras start rolling based on some of the casting decisions. This Movie's Cast Is Quite Questionable Now, not all the choices are complete headscratchers, like Andrew Koji ( Warrior , Snake Eyes , and Bullet Train ) as the legendary wandering warrior Ryu, Jason Momoa ( Aquaman , Justice League) as Blanka, or Callina Liang as Chun-Li. But then things start to go off the rails, with 50 Cent as Balrog, Andrew Schulz as Dan, Roman Reigns as Akuma, Cody Rhodes as Guile, Noah Centino as Ken, country music star Orville Peck as Vega, and David Dastmalchian ( The Suicide Squad , The Dark Knight ) as M. Bison. The reaction to the casting announcements, as expected, is on the worried side, with fans already calling the film trash, just purely based on the casting announcements. Welp. We're just gonna have to hope this movie isn't as bad as the first one. You can see more reactions below. 50 Cent, Andrew Schulz, & More Allegedy Cast In Upcoming Street Fighter Movie, Fans Are Arleady Saying It's Going To Be Trash was originally published on

Henry Golding details 'Crazy Rich Asians' reunions as Max develops TV series: 'Really excited'
Henry Golding revealed he has reconnected with several of his "Crazy Rich Asians" collaborators as the hit film, based on author Kevin Kwan's book trilogy, gets a future on the little screen. Golding, who starred as affluent heartthrob Nick Young in the 2018 film, told the "Today" show on Wednesday that he recently reunited with co-stars Awkwafina and Gemma Chan, on separate occasions, and discussed the series currently in development at Max. "Everyone is excited," he said. The "Snake Eyes" and "Another Simple Favor" actor said he met up with Awkwafina "the other night" and "not too long ago" reconnected with Chan and "Crazy Rich Asians" co-writer Adele Lim in London "to sort of discuss where we're heading." Chu and co-written by Lim and Peter Chiarelli, touted an all-Asian cast and was a watershed moment for underrepresented voices in Hollywood. The film made nearly $240 million worldwide on a budget of $30 million and paved the way for a sequel based off Kwan's second book, "China Rich Girlfriend." In 2019, news broke that the "Crazy Rich Asians" sequel hit a significant roadblock as Lim exited the project over pay disparity. The status of the second film has been unclear since then, but it seems Lim will give "Crazy Rich Asians" another go. Warner Bros. Discovery is the parent company of both Max and Warner Bros. Pictures, which distributed the first film. Lim is set to executive produce, write and serve as showrunner on the Warner Bros. Television project. Kwan and Chu (via his Electric Somewhere production banner) will both return as executive producers. Color Force's Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson will also executive produce. It's unclear where exactly the series will pick up, but it will be based off Kwan's books. Read more: Jon M. Chu slams Silicon Valley for AI excesses — and studios for forgiving it The series is in early development with no casting deals in place, but Lim is keen on having original cast members return for the show, The Times has learned. In his "Today" interview, Golding did not confirm whether he was officially on board but said "we have so much runway to really share the world" of the "Crazy Rich Asians" franchise. "I think we're really excited to show more,' he said. Sign up for Screen Gab, a free newsletter about the TV and movies everyone's talking about from the L.A. Times.
