Information Minister receives Middle East Council of Churches delegation, discusses bilateral media relations with Belgian Ambassador
NNA - Minister of Information, Lawyer Paul Morcos, on Monday received at his ministry office, the Secretary General of the Middle East Council of Churches, Professor Michel Abs, accompanied by a delegation from the Council, who came on a protocol visit..
The delegation included Media Officer and Coordinator of Church and Media Relations at the council. Lea Adel Maamari, the Coordinator of the Social Capital Rehabilitation Project at the Council Professor Laure Abi Khalil, the Media and Communication Officer at the Communication Department, Elia Nasrallah, and the Social Communication Officer, Director Johnny Anton.
The discussion reportedly touched on several media topics and programmes produced by the Council's Communication and Media Unit.
As Minister Morcos welcomed the efforts exerted by the Council across various media, humanitarian and social levels, the attendees looked forward to 'more cooperation between the Council and the Ministry of Information in terms of creating a kind of twinning with regard to programmes, production and everything related to the media.'
Abs handed Minister Morcos an invitation to visit the Council, with a protocol expected to be signed between the two sides in the next phase.
The delegation also presented Minister Morcos with an honorary shield in appreciation of his efforts.
Separately, Minister Morcos met in his office at the ministry, Belgian Ambassador to Lebanon, Arnout Pauwels, with whom he broached the general developments.
Following the meeting, Minister Morcos said that he discussed with the Belgian ambassador issues related to bilateral relations, particularly support for the Lebanese media, specifically Télé Liban.
The discussion also touched on the new media draft law.
