Ohio State softball 2026 conference schedule unveiled
It was an overachieving year for the Ohio State softball team this past season. Despite losing a lot of key players, new head coach Kirin Kumar was able to lead the team to an offensive explosion in which the Buckeyes led the country in home runs, runs scored, and a few other categories. OSU ended up tying for third place in the Big Ten and found its way into the NCAA Tournament. Now, the trick will be to continue that momentum and continue the climb in the Big Ten and nationally. To do it, Ohio State will have to navigate a Big Ten schedule that now includes West Coast power teams like UCLA and Oregon. Patrick Mahomes Reacts to Major Texas Tech Announcement on Sunday
Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes has had a busy offseason since we last saw him on the field in Super Bowl LIX against the Philadelphia Eagles. Over the past two weeks, he was officially inducted into the Texas High School Football Hall of Fame—a moment he celebrated alongside his wife Brittany and the rest of his family. Just this past weekend, he hosted an event for his foundation, which included plenty of golf and community engagement. Advertisement Despite the packed schedule, Mahomes has stayed tuned in to the sports world. On Sunday, he reacted quickly to major news out of his alma mater, Texas Tech. The Red Raiders women's softball team clinched a spot in the Super Regionals after a dominant performance and a thrilling 9–6 victory over Mississippi State. Mahomes celebrated the milestone with a clear two-word message as he retweeted Texas Tech's post on social media. "Let's go!!!!" Mahomes reacted. Mahomes attended Texas Tech University from 2014 to 2016, serving as the Red Raiders' starting quarterback for three seasons before declaring for the NFL draft, where he was selected 10th overall. Since then, he has remained closely connected to Texas Tech athletics and proudly true to his Texas roots. Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes at a Texas Tech Raiders basketball game on Feb. 24, C. They were led by standout pitcher Nijaree Canady, who carried a heavy load in the circle. She threw an incredible 111 pitches over five innings, allowing just three earned runs on eight hits while striking out four. With Canady needing support at the plate, the offense came through in a big way. Texas Tech jumped out to a 4–0 lead early. After a strong push from Mississippi State, the Red Raiders held an 8–6 cushion before adding an insurance run to close out the win. Hailey Toney was the clear player of the game, launching two home runs in the victory. With the win, Texas Tech advances to face No. 5 seed Florida State in a best-of-three Super Regional next weekend. Related: Deion Sanders Makes Big Personal Announcement on Sunday

Ohio State softball finds out fate revealed in upcoming NCAA Tournament
It was pretty well known that the Ohio State softball team was going to go dancing in the NCAA Softball Tournament after putting together a very impressive body of work this season -- seemingly out of nowhere. Losing in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament didn't help its seeding, and that was apparent when the regionals were unveiled on Sunday. That's because the Buckeyes drew a tough, tough region. Ohio State received a No. 3 seed in the four-team pod with host No. 7 overall seed Tennessee and North Carolina being the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds in the region. The Buckeyes will open up the Knoxville region against the Tar Heels and then will have to find their way through the mini double-elimination tournament to advance to a Super Regional as a massive yet dangerous underdog. Advertisement The overall No. 1 seed in the entire tournament was Texas A&M followed by Oklahoma (2), Florida (3), Arkansas (4), Florida State (5), and Texas (6) ahead of the Vols. We'll have more on this region and matchup as things get going, but for now, we can tell you that the OSU plays Friday at 4 p.m. ET against North Carolina.
