Oslo Runway planning bumper August season to celebrate its first decade
Oslo Runway has revealed plans to celebrate its 10th anniversary with a bumper season this August, in a mega celebration of Norwegian fashion in one of Europe's most go-to cities this decade. According to a schedule released today, Oslo Runway will run from 25 to 30 August 2025, and will include shows by emerging and established names, presented across the Norwegian capital. ORW25 will kick off with an opening ceremony on the Oslofjord in collaboration with jewellery brand Josephine Studio, before diving into the growing interest in Norwegian knitting heritage with Dale of Norway. Oslo Runway is continuing its cross-disciplinary collaboration with Munch, the city's key new art museum, opened in 2021, featuring the world's best collection of works by modernist master painter Edvard Munch. This year's commissioned work is the show 'Solen' by Pearl Octopuss.y. The show will have a pre-premiere open to the public, with the main premiere being invite-only. Oslo Runway will also celebrate a triple 10-year anniversary together with Promenaden — the capital's key shopping thoroughfare — and Norwegian Fashion Hub with an anniversary dinner party at the Munch Museum. 'It feels incredible to celebrate 10 years with nearly 60 Norwegian designers, artists, and brands on the official programme! I'm so proud of what we achieve together, both at home and abroad, and of how the event now contributes to elevating fashion as both a creative industry and a cultural field,' said Oslo Runway CEO Elin O. Carlsen. With the capital as the backdrop, there's a line-up featuring both big names and emerging talents. Returning brands this season include Envelope1976, Livid, Pearl Octopuss.y, Woodling, Pia Tjelta, Christian Aks, Kari Traa, F5 Collections, ESP, and Julie Josephine. 'It's energising to see some of the most exciting brands in Norway return to the programme. We're also very curious to see what newcomers like Blæst, Sixthgear, Camilla Pihl, Ella & Il, and Hartlino will bring to their Oslo Runway debut,' added Carlsen. There will also be a new Talent Award by Steen & Strøm — Norway's pathbreaking department store — during ORW25. A professional jury will nominate a graduating student from each of the design schools: Esmod, Oslo National Academy of the Arts (KHiO), and OsloMet. All three will be exhibited at Steen & Strøm, where they will be introduced to both the press and the public. In collaboration with Steen & Strøm, a special pop-up will highlight the craftsmanship of Norwegian designers. A unique opportunity to explore brands like ESP, Tarinii, Bastante Textile, Gobmi, and Cala Jade and discover their creativity, design, and unique use of materials. Elsewhere, store and concept gallery Sorgenfri will invite independent Norwegian designers to showcase their top pieces in a group exhibition Sorgenfri Artwear, where designers will be invited to respond creatively to the question: 'What is the fashion of the future?' Meanwhile, the Oslo Runway NEXT talent initiative programme has selected two new brands, Cohmé Atelier and Wilhelmina, to receive mentorship from industry experts, a one-year membership at the Norwegian Fashion Hub, and funding to host their own shows during ORW25. Finally, the season will also see a new Oslo Runway Tribute Award in honour of a Norwegian designer or a fashion or lifestyle brand that has stood out in the past year. Previous winners include Livid, Tom Wood, Envelope1976, and, most recently, Norwegian Rain. This year's winner, announced at the anniversary dinner at the Munch Museum, will receive prize money of NOK 50,000 — or €4,500 — from Innovation Norway.

Park Sang-young and Bora Chung to meet with Swedish readers
Two internationally recognized novelists, Park Sang-young and Bora Chung, are to meet with readers in Sweden at Korean Literature Week events organized by the Korean Cultural Center Sweden. On Monday, Park will meet local readers at Kulturhuset, a cultural complex in Stockholm, following a screening of "Love in the Big City," a film adaptation of his book starring Kim Go-eun and Noh Sang-hyun. The event will be moderated by Kim Eun-ah, who translated the book into Swedish. On Wednesday, Chung will appear on Solen, a literary live podcast hosted by Stockholm librarians, to celebrate the Swedish release of her novel "Cursed Bunny." Later that day, she will join her English-language translator, Anton Hur, in a discussion of the book at Soderbokhandeln, Sweden's oldest independent bookstore. Both authors will also take part in Littfest, Sweden's largest literary festival, March 13-15. Park was longlisted for the International Booker Prize in 2022 for "Love in the Big City," while Chung was shortlisted the same year for "Cursed Bunny." Both novels were translated into English by Hur.
