Head coach Cotterill leaves Forest Green Rovers
Forest Green Rovers have confirmed the departure of head coach Steve Cotterill after the side missed out on promotion from the National League. Cotterill's exit was reported earlier this week, following an 18-month spell at the helm. Advertisement The 60-year-old guided the Gloucestershire club to third in the table last season, but they were beaten by Southend United on penalties in the play-offs to miss out on a place in the Wembley final. "Steve Cotterill and FGR have parted company following the club's decision to terminate Steve's contract. We wish Steve all the best for the future," a statement said. More to follow. Huge blaze rips through Southend United's former training ground sending smoke billowing into sky
A HUGE blaze has broke out at Southend United's former training ground. Essex County Fire and Rescue Service rushed to the scene on Eastern Avenue, Southend at around 10.30pm last night. 2 2 Thick black smoke was seen billowing into the air as the derelict building was torn apart by flames. The building, Boots and Laces Training Ground, was once used as the training facility for the National League side. The blaze was dampened down in the early hours of today and crews have since left the scene. The derelict two-storey building on the site, which the Blues vacated last year, was described as being "fully alight" by the fire service. Crews from Southend were joined by colleagues from Rayleigh Weir, Rochford, Hawkwell, Leigh and Shoeburyness. Advice to people living nearby to keep their doors and windows closed has since been lifted.
