Several people stabbed near Finland shopping centre, police arrest suspect

An assailant in Finland stabbed several people near a shopping centre in the southern city of Tempere on Thursday afternoon, and one person was arrested, Finnish public broadcaster Yle reported. It was not immediately clear how many people were injured in the attack, but police said the situation no longer posed a danger to others. Victims were given first aid at the scene. Yle also reported that employees from the social and crisis emergency services had arrived at the shopping centre to attend to victims and bystanders.

Finland says two Russian military aircraft suspected of violating its airspace

HELSINKI, May 23 (Reuters) - Two Russian military aircraft are suspected of having violated Finnish airspace on Friday, Finland's defence ministry said in a statement. The incident occurred off the coast of Porvoo in southern Finland, the ministry added. "We take the suspected territorial violation seriously and an investigation is ongoing," Minister of Defence Antti Hakkanen said in the statement. The Finnish Border Guard is investigating the incident and will provide more detailed information at a later time, he added.
