Soybean Bulls Pushing Back on Wednesday Morning

Soybeans are up 5 to 6 cents early on Wednesday AM trade. Futures were off their intraday lows on Tuesday but still settled with losses of fractionally in the new crop months as 2 ½ to 4 ¾ cents in the nerabys. Preliminary open interest rose 6,875 contracts on Tuesday. The cmdtyView national average new crop Cash Bean price was down 1/2 cent today at $9.76 3/4. Soymeal futures are trying to break out, with Tuesday gains of 30 cents to $3.30/ton. Soy Oil was pressured by crude oil weakness, down 35 to 44 points. Ahead of a meeting with Chinese counterparts, Treasury Secretary Bessent expects to see the tariff deadline of August 12 extended. Japan and the US agreed to a trade deal that was announced late on Tuesday. Tariffs will be set at 15% starting August 1. It also expects to boost rice imports by Japan, with Japan buying $8 billion in ag goods. Soybeans failed to see much buying out of the weekend, as contracts were down 9 to 13 cents at the close. The cmdtyView national average new crop Cash Bean price is down 10 cents today at $9.76 1/4. Soymeal futures were up a dime. Soy Oil was 23 to 27 higher in the front months. The Monday afternoon Crop Progress report from USDA showed a total of 62% of the US bean crop blooming, with 26% setting pods. Condition ratings slipped 2% to 68% in good/excellent categories, as the Brugler500 was down 2 points to 373. Beans had posted Friday gains of 6 to 9 cents Preliminary open interest was up 1,214 contracts on Friday, suggesting a rotation of ownership. The cmdtyView national average new crop Cash Bean price is down 14 ½ cents today at $9.72 3/4. Soymeal futures are trading $3.80 to $4.00/ton lower at midday, erasing last week's gains (August was up $3.70 last week). Soy Oil was 40 to 42 points lower in the front months earlier this morning but has reduced those losses to 30 to 33 points going into midday. .
