UAE Strengthens Intellectual Property Ties with Spain and Morocco
The UAE has signed two new agreements with Spain and Morocco to boost cooperation on intellectual property development, reinforcing its commitment to global best practices in innovation and rights protection. The Memoranda of Understanding were signed by the Ministry of Economy and Tourism with the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office and the Moroccan Industrial and Commercial Property Office. The signings took place during the UAE delegation's participation in the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) meetings in Geneva, attended by Minister Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri. The agreements aim to enhance collaboration in key areas such as digital transformation, talent development, and the coordination of industrial property and patent registration. They also include the adoption of advanced technologies, including AI, to improve patent search and classification. Minister bin Touq emphasized that the partnerships mark a strategic step in building a robust IP ecosystem in the UAE.
