Rayang: The Indian Army on Sunday conducted a high-tech military drill at Rayang in Arunachal Pradesh's East Siang district to validate the integration of drone technology into tactical battlefield operations. Exercise 'Drone Prahar', conducted at the Rayang military station, was observed by the General Officer Commanding (GoC) of Spear Corps Lt Gen Abhijeet S Pendharkar, a statement said. Carried out under realistic operational conditions, the exercise demonstrated the effective use of drones for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, as well as real-time sensor-to-shooter coordination and precision targeting, the note read. The aim was to enhance command reach and improve situational awareness for tactical commanders by employing layered surveillance and supporting dynamic decision-making on the ground, it added. The exercise also evaluated critical aspects necessary for seamless drone integration in battlefield scenarios. This included testing of airspace deconfliction, ensuring secure communication channels and establishing coordination protocols among various arms and services. Exercise 'Drone Prahar' marks a significant step in the army's ongoing efforts to modernise its combat capabilities and embrace emerging technologies, the statement added. PTI

1 2 Itanagar: The Udyami Panjikaran Mela 2025 was successfully organised in the remote border town of Tuting in Arunachal Pradesh's Upper Siang district on Wednesday. Organised by the Indian Army's Spear Corps under Operation Sadbhavana in association with the Arunachal State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ArSRLM), the event reflected a strong spirit of cooperation between military and civil society in advancing rural development. The fair was designed to encourage entrepreneurship and promote participation of self-help groups (SHGs) in building a sustainable platform for local farmers, artisans and rural producers. It also focused on providing reliable and long-term market linkages for indigenous products and agricultural goods. The participating SHGs, farmers and entrepreneurs were given on-the-spot support for registration, business development advice, and exposure to various govt schemes aimed at empowering rural livelihoods. Participants interacted with officials, representatives of financial institutions, market experts, etc., and gained knowledge on how to upscale their products and services for bigger markets. Representatives from the Army and the ArSRLM reiterated their shared vision to encourage self-reliance, economic independence, and sustainable growth through such inclusive development programmes.

Itanagar (Arunachal Pradesh), June 17 (ANI): In a major boost to infrastructure in North Eastern States, the Indian Army's Spear Corps held a meeting in Arunachal Pradesh to discuss improving roads and hydroelectric power projects. The meeting was led by the head of the Dao Division and included senior officials from BRO, THDC, SJVN, NHIDCL, and the Arunachal government. They focused on working together to build and upgrade important roads in remote areas and to complete hydroelectric projects on time. In a post on X, Spear Corps said, '#SpearCorps organised an Integrated Stakeholders Meeting on Road Infrastructure and Hydro Electric Power Projects in #ArunachalPradesh. The meeting was chaired by GOC #DaoDivision wherein senior officials from #BRO, #THDC, #SJVN, #NHIDCL and @mygovarunachal attended.' 'Deliberations centred on synergising efforts to construct and upgrade vital road links in the remote and strategically significant areas of Eastern #ArunachalPradesh. Special attention was given to the proposed hydroelectric power Projects in the state. All stakeholders agreed to synchronise efforts to ensure the timely execution of projects, thus bolstering national security and promoting socio-economic development in the region,' the post stated. Recently, Arunachal Pradesh declared 2025-35 the Decade of Hydro Power in an effort to harness its significant hydropower potential, estimated at 58,000 MW. The decision was taken during the Arunachal Pradesh government's special cabinet meeting on Friday, which was attended by Chief Minister Pema Khandu, the Governor, and the Deputy Chief Minister. In a press statement of the CMO Arunachal Pradesh, it said that during the Decade of Hydro Power, the government aims to undertake strategic policy and governance measures not just to harness the hydropower potential through a judicious mix of mega, large and small hydroelectric projects, but also to create a stable and supportive policy and regulatory framework for the overall development of the industrial ecosystem in the state, both as a source of economic growth and as a means of generating employment and self-employment opportunities for youth of Arunachal Pradesh. With around 19 GW of hydropower projects under development with cumulative investments of over Rs 2 lakh crore in the next 10 years, Arunachal Pradesh is estimated to receive annual revenues of Rs 4,525 crore from the sale of free power from HEPs from 2035 onwards, the statement stated. 1 2 3 4 5 6 Dibrugarh: The 9th death anniversary of martyr Havildar Hangpan Dada, Ashok Chakra (Posthumous), was commemorated with solemn reverence at his memorial at Borduria village in Tirap District of Arunachal Pradesh on Monday. The ceremony brought together senior military officials, govt dignitaries, and local citizens, who honoured the supreme sacrifice of the brave soldier who laid down his life defending the nation. Lt Gen Abhijit S Pendharkar, General Officer Commanding of Spear Corps, led the distinguished gathering that included MLA and adviser to the minister for environment & forests Wangling Lowangdong, deputy commissioner of Tirap Techu Aran, and SP Singjatla Singpho. Senior military officers, including Brigadier Sarabjeet Singh, Commander of 25 Sector Assam Rifles, Col Ankit Harjai, Commanding Officer of 44 Assam Rifles, Lamkhokam Lhoujem, Commandant of 36 Battalion CRPF, senior public leader Wangman Lowangcha, Gaon Buras (village headmen) and other local dignitaries were also present alongside Veer Nari Chasen Lowang Dada, the martyr's widow. His extraordinary act of valour and unwavering dedication to duty proved instrumental in foiling a major infiltration attempt and preventing enemy forces from creating disturbances in the sensitive border state. In recognition of his supreme sacrifice and gallantry, he was posthumously awarded the Ashok Chakra, India's highest peacetime military decoration, in August 2016. During the ceremony, Lt Gen Pendharkar personally interacted with the martyr's family, offering reassurance of the Army's and the nation's continued support. He also addressed ex-servicemen from Tirap and Longding districts, acknowledging their persistent commitment to national service. "The sacrifice of brave soldiers like Havildar Hangpan Dada serves as an eternal reminder of the price of freedom and security," Lt Gen Pendharkar said. MLA Wangling Lowangdong highlighted state govt's initiatives in honouring the martyr's memory. "We have taken pride in renaming the CM's Trophy to the Hangpan Dada Memorial Trophy for both football and volleyball over the past eight years," Lowangdong said. The MLA made an appeal to the state administration, urging consideration for naming important institutions after the decorated soldier. "I appeal to the state govt to consider naming significant establishments — such as a Sainik School or other important institutions in the Capital Region, Itanagar — in honour of martyr Hangpan Dada," he said. The ceremony concluded with a poignant presentation narrating the life and heroic deeds of martyr Hangpan Dada.
