41.38 lakh students, 1 lakh teachers trained under Naan Mudhalvan scheme: T.N. government

The Tamil Nadu government on Sunday said over 41.38 lakh students and about 1 lakh teachers have been trained under the Naan Mudhalvan scheme so far. Besides this, the Uyarvukku Padi scheme has facilitated the admission of 77,752 students into higher education institutions. Under the Kalloori Kanavu 24 initiative, over 1.87 lakh have benefited since its inception in 2022. In 2025-26, 81,149 students benefited, an official release listing the accomplishments of the Special Programme Implementation Department said. A total of 29 government engineering colleges have been equipped with skill and employment centres at an estimated cost of ₹30.17 crore, inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin on December 18, 2024, at the Government College of Technology, Coimbatore. Under the North Chennai Development Project, about 1,200 individuals from the region participated in skill training and job fairs, with 297 selected for recruitment, training, and placement, it said. Since 2021-22, 259,072 college hostel students from the Adi Dravidar community, Most Backward Classes, and Backward Classes have received training in English speaking and softskill development, the release said. Under the SCOOT Pilot Phase Outcomes (2024), implemented in collaboration with the British Council and Durham University, 100 students received online training in artificial intelligence and data science, it said. The top 25 students received in-person training at Durham University, and 13 of them were placed in leading companies. For the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai scheme, an allocation of ₹8,123.83 crore was made for 2023-24 and ₹13,721.50 crore for 2024-25. 'The scheme will be expanded to include more eligible women,' it said.

The Tamil Nadu government on Sunday said the Rs 1,000 monthly assistance under the Kalaignar's Women's Rights Scheme will be expanded to include more eligible women. Listing out a string of special schemes being implemented by the Special Programme Implementation Department, the state government said 63,949 students got employment through job fairs organised under the "Naan Mudhalvan" scheme.
