Kaizer Chiefs keeping close eye on Sundowns and Bafana star

Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly interested in the signing of Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Sphelele Mkhulise. The 29-year-old's contract with Masandawana is set to expire in June, but the Bafana midfielder has an option of a one-year extension in his deal. According to Mgosi Squad , Sundowns have given the midfielder a new offer but Mkhulise was not happy with the current numbers. 'The standing point is the length of his contract and the numbers. After they gave him the new offer, he submitted his counter offer and the club is still studying it,' a source told the publication. 'Sundowns don't want to lose Sphelele to their rivals, but at the same time, they don't want to keep an unhappy player. Sphelele is not happy with his lack of game time at Sundowns and wants some guarantees that he will play a certain number of games per season. But that depends on the new coach Miguel Cardoso so don't be surprised if Sphelele ends up leaving Sundowns at the end of the season,' the source added. Kaizer Chiefs have previously been linked with another Sundowns midfielder Sipho Mbule, in recent weeks. Amakhosi are no strangers to signing Downs players, having brought in the likes of Khama Billiat and Leonardo Castro in the past.
