Chanel Explores the Cosmos with Its Latest Evening Bags
Chanel has once again turned heads with the release of two extraordinary minaudières from its latest Métiers d'Art collection. Known for pushing the boundaries of accessory design, the fashion house continues to treat its miniature evening bags as objets d'art, not just functional pieces. This season, it's the Sphere and the Star that have captured the spotlight.
Unveiled on June 30, 2025, both creations exemplify Chanel's flair for fantasy. The Star Minaudière, crafted in silver-tone metal and crystal, conjures a celestial charm with its radiant, angular form. Meanwhile, the Sphere Minaudière dazzles in gold-tone metal, resembling a perfectly formed planet. Each piece feels as though it's been plucked straight from the cosmos.
What sets these minaudières apart is not just their eye-catching shapes, but the meticulous craftsmanship behind them. The crystals, or strass, are seamlessly integrated into the metal, creating a smooth, radiant surface that won't snag on delicate fabrics.
This clever technique ensures a consistent, all-over glow, allowing each piece to shimmer like a celestial body in motion.
Measuring just 13 by 13 centimetres for the Star and 12 by 12 centimetres for the Sphere, these minaudières are undeniably petite. They are designed as evening companions rather than practical handbags. Whether clutched in hand, as seen on the Métiers d'Art runway, or worn crossbody with the accompanying chain strap, they make an unmistakable statement.
