Sony tells Marvel to pause live-action Miles Morales plans, Kevin Feige confirms in interview
Marvel Studios has confirmed it will not introduce a live-action Miles Morales Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe at this time, following a request from Sony. Speaking during a roundtable interview attended by Variety, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige stated that plans for a live-action version of the character are currently 'nowhere.' 'We've been told to stay away,' Feige added, indicating that this position is likely to remain in place until the conclusion of Sony's Spider-Verse trilogy. The final part of that trilogy, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, is scheduled for release on June 25 2027, following previous delays. Fans had speculated that Miles Morales could appear in Tom Holland's upcoming Spider-Man film, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, set for release on July 31 2026. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has previously referenced Miles Morales indirectly, with Spider-Man: Homecoming featuring Aaron Davis, played by Donald Glover, who mentions a 'nephew' living in New York. Additionally, Daredevil Born Again briefly mentions an 'Officer Morales,' which some fans believe is a nod to Miles' father. Feige also confirmed during the same interview that Marvel Studios plans to recast the X-Men when the characters are introduced into the MCU, as part of a broader reset following Avengers: Secret Wars. For now, fans can continue to see both Peter Parker and Miles Morales in Insomniac's Spider-Man game series, while a live-action debut for Miles Morales in the MCU will not take place before 2027.

The third installment in Sony's popular web-slinging animated trilogy has shifted its release date back by three weeks, from June 4, 2027 to June 25, 2027. Studio insiders tell Variety the move was made to capitalize on school-aged moviegoers — 100% of schools in the U.S. will be on summer break by the new date, as opposed to only 65% on June 4. 'Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse' is the conclusion to a trilogy that began with 2018's 'Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse' and continued with 2023's 'Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.' Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson serve as directors for 'Beyond the Spider-Verse.' The screenplay is scripted by 'Spider-Verse' creators Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, alongside David Callaham. Lord and Miller will also produce with Amy Pascal, Avi Arad and Jinko Gotoh. Aditya Sood and Christina Steinberg are executive producing while Jessica Berri will serve as co-producer. At CinemaCon in March, Lord told the audience that the threequel would begin with protagonist Miles Morales as a fugitive on the run from every other spider in the multiverse, and hinted that 'Gwen and his other friends may or may not be enough to help him save the family that's been the leading part of the entire system.' 'Into the Spider-Verse' took home the Oscar for best animated feature at the 91st Academy Awards, and 'Across the Spider-Verse' landed a nod in the same category. The first entry grossed $384 million globally in addition, while the sequel raked in a mighty $690 million.
