Kevin Feige reveals Punisher's key role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has officially confirmed the next chapter of Tom Holland's Spider-Man saga: Spider-Man: Brand New Day, arriving in theaters July 31, 2026. During a roundtable interview for Fantastic Four, Feige revealed that this new film will take a grounded, street-level approach, introducing Jon Bernthal's Punisher into Peter Parker's world. 'This is the beginning of a proper Spider-Man era,' Feige explained. 'Peter is now alone, forgotten, and focused solely on saving New York — a scrappy loner with great power and even greater guilt.' The film picks up after Spider-Man: No Way Home, with Peter Parker erased from the lives of MJ and Ned and settling into a new life of anonymity, reminiscent of classic comic portrayals. Feige emphasized the opportunity to now explore street-level characters, calling attention to The Punisher's comic book origins tied directly to Spider-Man. 'I love that The Punisher started in a Spider-Man comic,' he said, teasing the character's prominent role in the film. Director Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi) is already deep into pre-production, drawing inspiration from iconic comic covers, many of which are pinned in his art department. Brand New Day takes its title from the controversial 2008 comic arc where Peter starts fresh after erasing his marriage and identity. While a Mephisto appearance isn't confirmed, Feige notes that the film will explore the emotional and moral consequences of Peter's solitude and dedication to justice. With production beginning soon in Scotland, fans can expect a more personal, grounded Spider-Man story — a sharp contrast from the multiverse chaos of recent entries.

Tom Holland: 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' Will Have Old School Filmmaking
Tom Holland is booked and busy. On top of staring in Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, the actor is gearing up for Spider-Man: Brand New Day—and teased a huge change to the film. Speaking to Flip Your Wig (via Variety), Tom said that Brand New Day will lean into old school filmmaking, which is a massive switch-up considering Spider-Man: No Way Home was largely shot on stages. "I'm obviously over the moon and so excited," Tom said. "Playing Spider-Man is like hanging out with an old pal, and I think we were really restricted with what we could do in the last movie because of COVID. We shot the entire film on stages. Now we're really gonna lean into that old school filmmaking and shoot in real locations, which is why we're starting in Glasgow." Tom went on to tease that "We are gonna use the streets of Glasgow for this massive set piece that we are putting together. It's gonna feel like making ['Homecoming'] again. It's been such a long time that I've done it that it's gonna feel like a breath of fresh air. I think the fans are going to be over the moon with what we're putting together." Not much is known about Brand New Day plot-wise, but it's expected to drop in summer 2026 (July 31, specifically) and stars Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, and Sadie Sink in her Marvel debut.

Tom Holland reveals how Spider-Man: Brand New Day will improve on No Way Home
Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be better than Spider-Man: No Way Home because it will 'shoot in real locations' instead of on production sets, Tom Holland has said. The 29-year-old actor is due to suit up as the Wall-Crawler once again for the upcoming Marvel superhero blockbuster, and has now stressed Spider-Man: Brand New Day will improve on its 2021 predecessor by dropping the sound stages in favour of filming on location - with principal photography set to start in Glasgow next month. Speaking with Flip Your Wig, Holland said: 'I'm obviously over the moon and so excited. Playing Spider-Man is like hanging out with an old pal, and I think we were really restricted with what we could do in the last movie because of COVID. We shot the entire film on stages. 'Now, we're really gonna lean into that old-school filmmaking and shoot in real locations, which is why we're starting in Glasgow.' The Odyssey star added the streets of the Scottish city would be used for a 'massive set piece' in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Reflecting on Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Holland teased the film would feel like a 'breath of fresh air', like his original 2017 movie Spider-Man: Homecoming. He said: 'It's gonna feel like making [Spider-Man: Homecoming] again. It's been such a long time that I've done it that it's gonna feel like a breath of fresh air. 'And I think the fans are gonna be over the moon with what we're putting together.' As well as Holland's Webhead, Spider-Man: Brand New Day will see the return of Zendaya as Michelle 'MJ' Jones-Watson, Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds and Jon Bernthal as The Punisher. Spider-Man: Brand New Day will also introduce Stranger Things actress Sadie Sink and The Bear's Liza Colón-Zayas, though it has not been confirmed what roles they will be playing in the movie. While little is known about the plot of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, it has been rumoured Mark Ruffalo's Hulk may be the main antagonist of the film, but this has not been confirmed. Spider-Man: Brand New Day - which will be helmed by Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton - is set to land in cinemas on July 31, 2026. When Holland and Cretton revealed the title for Spider-Man: Brand New Day at CinemaCon in March, the Uncharted star teased the movie would be a 'fresh start' for the Wall-Crawler. Appearing on screen at the event, Holland said: 'I know we left you with a massive cliffhanger at the end of No Way Home, where Peter Parker sacrificed his identity to save the people that he loves most in the world. 'So, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is a fresh start. It is exactly that. That's all I can say. That's all I've been allowed to say, and I'm well over the hump of giving away spoilers. So don't you worry: I'm not gonna do that today.'

New Spider-Man rumor hints at Norman Osborn's MCU debut
A new rumor has sparked excitement among Marvel fans, suggesting that Norman Osborn—better known as the Green Goblin—may finally be making his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. According to trusted insider DanielRPK, Marvel Studios is planning to introduce Osborn into the MCU timeline, though it's unclear whether he'll first appear in Spider-Man: Brand New Day or a future installment. While previous Spider-Man films in the MCU have focused on lesser-known villains like Mysterio, Vulture, and Shocker, fans have long awaited the arrival of classic rogues like Norman Osborn. Spider-Man: No Way Home teased the character's presence through Willem Dafoe's return as a multiversal Green Goblin, but many fans saw it as a missed opportunity for a fully integrated version of Osborn in the MCU continuity. The potential introduction of a new Norman Osborn could open fascinating storylines—particularly if Peter Parker, now aware of Osborn's villainous fate in other universes, tries to prevent it. Some theories even suggest Peter's interference may lead to someone else, such as Ned Leeds or Harry Osborn, becoming the new Green Goblin instead. Adding to the intrigue, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is already rumored to feature crossovers with characters like the Punisher and a more savage version of the Hulk. Introducing Norman Osborn in this complex web of narratives could elevate the stakes significantly. Spider-Man: Brand New Day is set to hit theaters on July 31, 2026. As speculation swirls, fans eagerly await official confirmation on whether the MCU is finally ready to unleash its own version of the Green Goblin.
