Miles Morales Can't Join the MCU Yet, Says Kevin Feige — GeekTyrant
For years, Marvel fans have been hyped about the possibility of Miles Morales swinging his way into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After all, with rumors that Tom Holland might eventually hang up his web-shooters, it seemed like the perfect time for Marvel to introduce the beloved character. But, according to Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, that's not happening anytime soon, and the reason might surprise you. At a recent press event promoting Fantastic Four: The First Steps , Feige shut down speculation about a live-action Miles Morales joining the MCU, at least in the near future. When asked about the status of a Miles Morales movie, Feige said:: 'That is nowhere.' He went on to explain why Marvel can't play with that particular web just yet: 'Sony has their brilliant, genius, incredible Spider-Verse animated franchise going and until that finishes, we've been told to stay away.' So, until Sony wraps up their critically acclaimed Spider-Verse saga, the MCU has to leave Miles alone. This effectively takes Miles off the table for a while. The final chapter of the animated trilogy, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse , is currently scheduled for release on June 25, 2027. That means fans shouldn't expect Miles to appear in any major MCU events like Avengers: Secret Wars (coming December 17, 2027), especially since that movie is shaping up to be a multiversal showdown featuring Battleworld. Adding to that, Spider-Verse producers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller have made it clear this third film will serve as a 'massive finale' and deliver a 'satisfying conclusion' to their animated saga. So Sony is definitely not in a rush to let go of Miles for the MCU while they're wrapping up one of their biggest success stories. Now, back in 2023, Sony teased a live-action Miles Morales project. But since then, things have gone quiet. If Feige's comments are any indication, Sony is holding that card close to their chest until the animated trilogy concludes. Miles Morales was created in 2011 by Brian Michael Bendis and Sara Pichelli, with input from then-editor-in-chief Axel Alonso, Miles first appeared in Ultimate Fallout #4 following the death of Peter Parker in the Ultimate Universe (Earth-1610). In just over a decade, Miles has exploded in popularity. From groundbreaking comic runs to the hit Insomniac video games and the Oscar-winning Spider-Verse films, he's become a cornerstone of Marvel's modern era. Many fans argue he's the most successful legacy hero in comics, carving out his own identity rather than living in Peter Parker's shadow. If you were hoping to see Miles Morales show up in Secret Wars or the next Spider-Man trilogy, don't hold your breath. For now, he's firmly in Sony's court—and with Beyond the Spider-Verse coming in 2027, it's going to be a long wait. Source: Variety

Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse will now bow on June 25, 2027, three weeks later than its previous June 4, 2027 date. Insiders say the later date will be better for bringing in school-aged kids for summer break, as some schools would still be in session in early June. It's also seen as a more appealing date internationally. ‘Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse' Going Later In June 2027
Fans will have to wait three weeks longer for Sony's threequel, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse which is now opening on June 25, 2027 instead of June 4, 2027. 2018's Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse won an Oscar for Best Animated Feature. Together with 2023's Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, the movies about the alter-verse Spider-Man, Miles Morales, and all his web slinging friends, has amassed $1.08 billion at the global box office. Thompson To Direct Given how a new animation style is invented with each installment, there's a lot of blood, sweat and tears that go into these movies. At the time when Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse had its world premiere back in June 2023, we were told by a source close to the film that that print was wet; the filmmakers working on the feature to the very Nth minute. In part 3, Morales is on the run and his friends like Gwen might not be able to save him. As fans may recall at the end of Across the Spider-Verse, Miles discovered that a parallel version of him had transformed into the villainous Prowler in an iteration of Earth that lacks a Spider-Man and features a lawless New York City. The movie has been moved a few times on the calendar. The movie originally had a theatrical release date of March 29, 2024, and was pushed back in July 2023 due to the strikes. Beyond the Spider-Verse is directed by Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson and written by David Callam, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. Lord and Miller produce with Amy Pascal, Avi Arad and Jinko Gotoh. Added to the release calendar is Sony Pictures Animation's Buds on March 12, 2027. Sony Reportedly Developing an Animated VENOM Movie After Putting AGENT VENOM Plans on Ice — GeekTyrant
Sony is reportedly swinging in a new direction with its Venom franchise, but this time, it's animated. According to insider @MyTimeToShineH, the studio is quietly developing a new Venom movie that will ditch live-action in favor of animation, marking a major tonal and stylistic shift for the symbiote. After Venom: The Last Dance wrapped up Tom Hardy's trilogy, and seemingly Hardy's final time as Eddie Brock, Sony was exploring a pivot. Rumor had it they planned to pass the alien torch to Flash Thompson. In The Last Dance , Thompson is a soldier who loses his legs thanks to a Xenophage, setting the stage for a possible Agent Venom story, one that would've seen a piece of the symbiote bond with him before reuniting with Eddie to face Knull, the god of the symbiotes. But with both Madame Web and Kraven the Hunter crashing hard, those plans were shelved. Well, Agent Venom is the film they should've made in the first place! Now the studio seems focused on more reliable territory with animation. Between wrapping up Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse and preparing to shoot Spider-Man: Brand New Day , Sony is reportedly banking on the medium that brought them their biggest critical and commercial Spider-success. An animated Venom opens up wild creative possibilities, from going full Venomverse to introducing Knull as a multiversal threat. Given the recent track record of Sony's Spider-Verse projects, diving into the weird and wild world of animation for Venom might be exactly what this symbiote saga needs.
