I tried 6 fast-food lemonades. A recently revamped recipe was my favorite.

That's where fast-food chains come in. I visited six chain restaurants on Long Island, New York — McDonald's, Wendy's, Burger King, Sonic, Panera, and Chick-fil-A — to determine which fast-food spot has the best lemonade to offer the parched masses. I judged each lemonade based on taste, price, and size of its medium or regular cup. Here's what I thought of each lemonade, ranked from my least to most favorite. My least favorite was from Wendy's. Wendy's actually has an entire lemonade menu, called Dave's Craft Lemonade Menu, which offers four kinds of lemonade: Tangerine Twist (new this summer), Pineapple Mango, Strawberry, and All-Natural, which is what I ordered.A medium lemonade at my local Wendy's on Long Island cost $3.69. At 32 fluid ounces, it was the largest drink of the six, and technically the best value. This was essentially water with a hint of lemon. This didn't taste bad, exactly, just bland. Fans of seltzers like La Croix and Spindrift might prefer this lemonade, since it wasn't overly sweet — it just tasted very might also be a result of the cup's size. It required a lot of ice to fill up, which could've watered my drink down a did not respond to a request for comment from Business Insider. Maybe I've just had one too many margaritas, but the agave taste was not for me, and the aftertaste was even worse. It was so sugary that I felt like a cavity spontaneously formed in one of my its sweetness and relatively small size, I can't recommend this lemonade, but maybe agave lovers would enjoy did not respond to a request for comment from Business Insider. As a kind of control group, I wanted to add a chain that doesn't have a proprietary lemonade recipe and instead uses a mass-produced brand like Minute Maid.A medium lemonade at Burger King cost me $2.59 for 30 fluid ounces, making it the cheapest one on this list. It was good, but not great. This was a perfectly average cup of fast-food lemonade. It was a bit sweet and artificial tasting, but it was essentially what I expected from Minute Maid and Burger value is what bumped this up to No. King did not respond to a request for comment from Business Insider. A medium lemonade at Chick-fil-A set me back $3.42 for 20 fluid ounces. Chick-fil-A's lemonade had remnants of lemon pulp in it. Typically, I'm not a pulp person. However, it surprised me to have some lemon pulp in my lemonade, and it made me feel like I was drinking a freshly squeezed cup of lemonade — it tasted like it, the texture, my other complaint about Chick-fil-A's lemonade was that my ice melted way too quickly. It was almost entirely gone by the time I got home — and it wasn't just because it was a hot day; all the other lemonades I had remained full of uses nugget ice, which is essentially small, chewable pellets of ice. Sonic uses that ice too, but for some reason — maybe the cup? — its ice stayed intact. The other chains used normal cubes or crushed ice, which also did not melt as did not respond to a request for comment from Business Insider. This was the most refreshing cup of lemonade I drank. I took a sip of this and immediately thought to myself, "This is what lemonade should taste like."It was crisp, not too sweet, not too bitter, had the perfect amount of ice, and tasted like a sip of at $2.89, it was the second-cheapest lemonade I tried. You can't go wrong with this did not respond to a request for comment from Business Insider. I might've gone into a sugar coma, but it was worth it to find out what the best fast-food lemonade is. All these lemonades have something to offer, whether it's a cheap price, varied levels of sweetness, different types of ice, or different types of if I had to pick one, McDonald's would be my recommendation for anyone in search of a cool glass of lemonade on a hot summer's day.

Daniel, of the city's Robroyston, was at Glasgow Sheriff Court, but was the case did not go ahead with it being marked as "not called". A Crown Office spokesperson later confirmed: "The Procurator Fiscal received a report relating to a (then) 62 year-old female and an incident said to have occurred on February 18 2024. "After careful consideration of the facts and circumstances - including available admissible evidence - it was decided there should be no further proceedings taken at this time." The statement added prosecutors "reserves the right" to re-raise the case should further evidence become available. Daniel had initially been due to appear at court to face the charge back in April. But, she was not in the dock following fears for her safety after her home had recently been torched amid a high-profile underworld turf war. Daniel's home was targeted by thugs acting for Dubai-based mobster Ross 'Miami' McGill in April as part of an explosion of gangland violence across the country. Defence lawyer Ross Jenkins told the sheriff at the time: 'There are professional concerns about Ms Daniel attending court. 'She is on standby to attend should the court wish, but there are issues that you may be aware of.' Fresh twist in Scotland's deadly gang war as 'Lyons' driver ambushed in brutal machete attack The case was then adjourned until the July date before being shelved by prosecutors. Daniel's bungalow and her 72-year-old brother Norman's home in Bishopbriggs, near Glasgow, were set alight in late-night attacks. We told how her home was set on fire at around 1am on April 14. A nearby bungalow belonging to Norman also went up in flames. 3 Annette Daniel faced trial for shoplifting but has had the case dropped Days earlier a woman of 72 and a 12-year-old — both thought to be relatives of the Daniels — were battered when hoods stormed a flat in Milton, Glasgow. A second house linked to Annette in the city's Robroyston had a window smashed. Cops are also investigating blaze attacks and shootings in the capital. The mayhem has seen thugs targeting properties linked to the Daniel clan and jailed Edinburgh cocaine kingpin Mark Richardson, 37. Bonzo Daniel was left disfigured after a machete murder bid by Lyons crew rivals in 2017.

Kevin Durant, Livvy Dunne Invest in PE-Backed Spindrift

Spindrift, the sparkling water and soda company bought by private equity firm Gryphon Investors this year, has gained some more fizz through several investors from the sports world, including Kevin Durant. Other investors include Pittsburgh Steelers wideout DK Metcalf, UConn star guard Azzi Fudd, Boston Celtics guard Derrick White, influencer and former LSU gymnast Livvy Dunne and FC Dallas goalkeeper Maarten Paes. More from Kevin Durant Trade Solidifies Phoenix Suns' Spending Failure Fanatics Launches Athletes vs. Celebs vs. Fans Event With $1M Prize High-Priced Suns Need Massive Changes After Missing Playoffs Paes, who is in the early stages of building out his investment portfolio, was surprised to see his name in this 'who's who' of athlete investors. 'I didn't know the full extent of the roster,' the 27-year-old netminder said in a phone interview. 'So now, seeing those names, it's really cool to be affiliated with them.' For the Spindrift investment, he connected with Patricof Co., a firm that partners with professional athletes seeking out the best investment opportunities. Launched by Mark Patricof, son of famed venture capitalist Alan Patricof, the firm has recruited athletes looking to invest 10-30% of their net worth into private equity deals. Additionally, Paes is one of 30 athlete investors in Ballers, a social club concept aiming to capitalize off the popularity of padel (his favorite sport outside of soccer) and pickleball. In June, Ballers raised $20 million in a Series A venture capital round led by Sharp Alpha, with tennis luminaries Andre Agassi, Kim Clijsters and Sloane Stephens investing in the concept. Paes said that when he arrived in the U.S., he looked to Durant, who was recently traded to the Houston Rockets, and LeBron James as athletes he wanted to emulate for leveraging their fame into successful businesses off the court. He said his investments in the states will inform how he chooses investments elsewhere. 'I think right now, the way how the U.S. is structured, I think this is a very good way to start and take those learning lessons all over the world in a global fashion,' Paes said. Paes—who holds dual citizenship in the Netherlands and Indonesia, in addition to his permanent resident status in the U.S.—was recently called up by Indonesia to play in the Asian qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Spindrift CEO David Burwick said that the investing athletes were already fans of the brand and made for a natural match. The company competes with other seltzers and sparkling water sellers such as Sanpellegrino, La Croix, Polar, Coca-Cola's TopoChico and PepsiCo's Bubly, as well as store-brand options. In January, Spindrift was sold to private equity firm Gryphon Investors, with the San Francisco-based private equity firm buying a majority stake in the beverage company for $650 million. Spindrift's founder and CEO Bill Creelman shifted to chair of the company board while Burwick, the former CEO of Boston Beer Company (makers of Samuel Adams beer), was brought on as Spindrift's new chief executive. Monster couple who stabbed man to death in ‘frenzied attack' at Scots flat caged for life

The advocate depute stated Mr Fisher had been subjected to a "frenzied attack" TOWER BLOCK HORROR Monster couple who stabbed man to death in 'frenzied attack' at Scots flat caged for life Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) TWO killers guilty of murder after a man was stabbed to death have been jailed for a total of at least 34 and a half years. Cameron Woods, 27, and Stacey Balfour, 24, were today sentenced at the High Court in Glasgow following the death of Robert Fisher. Prosecutors stated it was Woods who knifed Mr Fisher with his then partner Balfour "acting in concert" knowing there would be violence. The pair had been found guilty of murder following a trial last month. They were each handed a life sentence today. Woods was today jailed for a minimum 18 and a half years with Balfour locked up for 16 years. The killing occurred after all three had been with others at a flat in the tower block. A witness said Woods had been seen at one stage with a large kitchen knife. Balfour meantime had shown someone the small lockback blade later used in the killing. It had been attached to a set of keys. The court heard the atmosphere later became "volatile" between those at the flat including Mr Fisher. Cops and forensics at the scene of an attempted murder in George Street, Paisley In her speech to jurors, prosecutor Erin Campbell said it was clear "the situation escalated". She said this eventually led to Mr Fisher being stabbed "in what amounted to a murderous attack". The victim managed to stagger out of the flat with blood on his face and down his T-shirt. A man dialled 999 as Mr Fisher groaned in the background: "I have been stabbed." He was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow. But, he never recovered and passed away there four days later. The court heard how Mr Fisher had suffered five separate stab wounds as well as possible defensive injuries. Miss Campbell put to jurors: "If you are trying to strike someone in the head or chest then there are only two possibilities. "Either you are deliberately trying to kill the person. "Or you are so angry and wild in the moment, you have total disregard if the person lives or dies." The advocate depute stated Mr Fisher had been subjected to a "frenzied attack". Woods was later stopped by police at a cycle track. He was found with the murder weapon which had Mr Fisher's blood on it. Balfour had initially told officers that the last time she had seen Mr Fisher was when he left the flat with another man. Donald Findlay, defending Woods, today said the thug had not co-operated with compiling a pre-sentencing social work report. The KC added: 'On the day of this matter no one set out looking for trouble. Something clearly happened which led to a conflict. There was a reaction to something.' Balfour's KC Thomas Ross said she had previously suffered a 'traumatic' incident in 2014 and a had been in a 'toxic relationship' before the killing.

Fizz, fizz: Spindrift gets back into the soda biz

Now, as the seltzer category loses its fizz and 'better-for-you' sodas have become all the buzz, Spindrift is back in the supermarket soda section. In March, the company, now based in Newton, unveiled plans to roll out five soda flavors — in cans instead of bottles this time — to stores over the spring and summer. A sign at the bar at Sprindrift's Newton headquarters. John Tlumacki/Globe Staff Advertisement With flavors like the Shirley Temple (cherry) and Concord Freeze (grape), the sodas are sweetened with actual fruit juice, making up roughly 20 percent of the drink, and don't contain any added sugars. That means fewer calories — around 40 for a 12-ounce can, rather than the 150 range found in mass-market sodas — though also a higher price point. Twelve-packs sell for around $25, two to four times the typical cost of a 12-pack of Coke. And they're generally more tart-tasting than the first iteration of Spindrift sodas, which used cane sugar. Advertisement 'We believe our product has a little sweetness, a little sour,' Creelman said. 'You don't miss the sugar. ... The challenge was, can you create the intensity without adding a bunch of junk to it?' Creelman's soda rollout came less than a month after he Creelman and Burwick first got to know each other around 10 years ago, when Burwick was leading Peet's Coffee. They shared an affinity for Boston, and for what Creelman calls 'this crazy beverage business.' Burwick retired from Boston Beer a year ago after about six years leading the craft brewer. Burwick sees a similar opportunity in soft drinks to what his former boss, Boston Beer chairman Jim Koch, saw in beer in the 1980s: a market for a premium beverage that people will pay more money for. Burwick spent most of the '90s and 2000s working at PepsiCo and said the soda giant back then found it challenging to create a premium-priced soft drink that consumers wanted to buy. Atti Shepherd, with Spindrift's trade marketing department, pours a glass of their new Shirley Temple soda. John Tlumacki/Globe Staff But the 'better-for-you' soda is finally having its moment, with lower-calorie, prebiotic drinks such as Olipop and Poppi seemingly everywhere these days. Just last month, Burwick's old employer, For Spindrift, the timing couldn't be better, said Gary Hemphill, managing director of Beverage Marketing Corp. Advertisement 'Consumers have shown they're open to 'better-for-you' sodas,' he said. 'It's a really great way to broaden the brand and the trademark, and grow their sales.' Today, Spindrift employs about 200 people, Spindrift has engendered a certain amount of loyalty over the years among natural foods sellers, such as E.N. May, a manager with the Healthy Living group of three stores in Vermont and upstate New York. May said he thought it was smart for Spindrift to get back into the soda business. As soon as he heard the news, he said, he knew it was a great idea. And as he expected, Healthy Living shoppers have warmed to the new Spindrift soda, with the Shirley Temple flavor a favorite among them. 'Pretty much anything they come out with, I think, is worth putting on the shelves as soon as I can get it,' May said. 'If I don't, I'll know I'll be getting requests from customers.'
