The 10 chicken bites also come complete with a portion of chips and a handful of condiments. A JD Wetherspoon spokesperson said: "Chicken bites are now available in all Wetherspoon pubs." The pub chain did not add why the popular item had been scratched in the first place. Revellers had for months questioned the whereabouts of the staple since it vanished. "It has been over one month without the chicken bites on the menu and I physically can't do this," one fan wrote on the Reddit group r/Wetherspoons. "Where have they gone?" Another wrote: "My beautiful, mouthwatering, crisped bites, that even the heavens have blessed with an angel's touch, where have you gone. "I suffer with agony and mourn every second without you in my spoons pub. "For real though, whats actually happened to them?? They're still on my local pub menus but they're never in stock." I went to the UK's biggest Wetherspoons with rooftop bar overlooking the beach The Sun Online has reached out to Wetherspoons for comment. What else is happening at Wetherspoons? Late last week, Spoons closed a beloved pub in Coventry. The Spon Gate in Coventry was a favourite among locals and closed for good on May 25. Two other Spoons still serve the city with The Flying Standard and The Early of Mercia remaining in operation. The Spon Gate was a favourite among locals though and was called the "best" city centre pub. Elsehwere, Spoons also launched a £2.99 breakfast deal in February, with customers able to get a breakfast muffin or small breakfast with soft or hot drink. There are also veggie options available, which is served between 8am and midday.

Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 1 Wetherspoons is bringing back its Brunch Burger for Father's Day weekend The American-style burger is making a return on Father's Day weekend, which takes place from Friday June 13 to Sunday June 15. The burger returned two years ago after a ten-year hiatus and it was a fan favourite at the time with punters calling it "legendary". This is the third year in a row that Spoons is bringing the much loved meal back. It's made up of a three ounce beef patty, American-style cheese, maple-cured bacon, free-range fried egg and is topped with a hash brown. The meal is £9.99, including a soft drink and chips or £11.52 if you want to add an alcoholic beverage. Last year, the meal cost £7.73 with a soft drink and £9.26, if you added booze. It is likely that prices will vary from pub to pub, so check in with your local to see how much you will be charged. It is also worth noting that airport, train station, service station and NEC Birmingham pubs are excluded from the Father's Day offer. The Spon Gate in Coventry announced their branch of Wetherspoons is will be closing on May 25. 2 The Spon Gate Wetherspoons was named after one of Coventry's gates Credit: Wetherspoons 2 The pub will serve its last customers at the end of the month Credit: Wetherspoons/Google maps The popular UK pub company opened The Spon Gate as a Wetherspoons in July 2010, driving its name from one of the 12 gates around the medieval city's walls. Two Wetherspoons will remain in Coventry's city centre, The Flying Standard and The Earl of Mercia. Staff are believed to have been offered employment to these other businesses. Wetherspoons spokesperson, Eddie Gershon, said: "It is a commercial decision taken by Wetherspoon. "We thank all our staff and customers over the years." Punters have taken to social media to express their disappoint at the news of what they have labelled "the best" pub. A Facebook user wrote: "It's the best one in town, not keen on the other two." A second commented: "The only decent place in Coventry for a nice meal and good priced drinks. "So sad it's to close, thank you for the brilliant service we have received over the years." A third chipped in: "Another bar closing. The city is dying fast." Why are pubs closing? Meanwhile, a fourth added: "Another pub bites the dust." Prior to becoming a Wetherspoons pub, The Spon Gate was a Chicago Rock Cafe on Spon Street, near St John's Church. The gate from which it derived its name was demolished in 1771, after surviving Charles II left it as one of the remaining wall gates in 1662. The pub has since kept photographs and drawings decorated around its walls to show Coventry's medieval history. Last month, figures published by the British Beer and Pub Association Association also revealed around six pubs permanently closed every week last year, with the loss of 4,500 jobs. The trade body found 289 boozers served last orders for the final time in 2024 across England and Wales. With employer National Insurance contributions being hiked with the minimum wage, more pubs are expected to shut this year too. It has therefore not been all good news for Wetherspoons punters in recently. The pub chain also exclusively revealed to The Sun in January it had increased the price of a host of drinks and meal deals by up to 30p. Prices on drinks were hiked by 15p, while meal deals were increased by 30p. Wetherspoons said a number of drinks, though, had not gone up in price including all draught lagers like Budweiser, Carling and Coors. Boss Tim Martin said the pub chain had "tried to remain as competitive as possible" with its pricing.
