Fire put out at Willard Avenue home in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Springfield Fire Department put out a kitchen fire in a home on Willard Avenue Tuesday evening. Victim identified in deadly Greenfield workplace accident Springfield Fire Captain Drew Garrett said that at around 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday, the fire department received a report of a structure fire at 21 Willard Avenue. When the first fire crews arrived, they discovered a fire on the first floor of the home in the kitchen. Fire crews were able to successfully put out the fire, with no injuries reported. The three residents of the home evacuated as a result of the fire, and Springfield Fire said that they are currently being assisted by the Red Cross. The Springfield Arson and Bomb Squad have determined that the cause of the fire was accidental.
