Edmonton weather: Wet start to the weekend but a sunny finish
Edmonton's skyline is seen from Spruce Grove, Alta., in this May 26, 2025, aerial photo. (Cam Wiebe / CTV News Edmonton) Scattered showers and thunderstorms across much of the province (again) on Friday. For the Edmonton region, we'll start the day off sunny and then the risk of precipitation comes into play late this afternoon/early this evening. Temperatures will get to the 24 C range for an afternoon high. So...a lot like yesterday. Cloudier and a bit cooler Saturday with an afternoon high near 20 C. There's a good chance we'll have some steadier showers or periods of light rain overnight and through the morning hours on Saturday. That area of rain is expected to stretch from the Edmonton region into east-central Alberta. However - the latest hi-res modelling from ECCC indicates that the rain zone might develop a bit further northeast instead of right over the city. So...I'm going with a 70 per cent chance of showers or rain for Saturday morning. It WAS looking pretty close to a now it's just 'very likely.' Assuming we DO have some more precip tomorrow, it should taper off/move out by midday, although we'll stay cloudy through the afternoon with some gusts in the 30-40 km/h range. Sunday/Monday will be sunnier and several degrees warmer as we climb back into the mid 20s in Edmonton and area. Canada Day has a slight chance of an evening shower or thunderstorm. But, the bulk of the day should be beautiful. Sunny in the morning, partly cloudy in the afternoon and light wind. Temperatures climbing into the mid to upper 20s. That heat sticks around through to the end of next week. Here's the forecast for Edmonton and area: Today - Morning sun. Partly cloudy this afternoon. 60% chance of a late-day shower or thunderstorm. High: 24 Tonight - Cloudy with a 70% chance of showers or rain overnight. 9pm: 18 Saturday - 70% chance of showers or periods of rain in the morning, tapering off midday. Mostly cloudy through the afternoon. Clearing in the evening. Wind: WNW 15-20 with gusts 30-40 km/h Morning Low: 13 Afternoon High: 20 Sunday - Mainly sunny. Morning Low: 11 Afternoon High: 24 Monday - Mainly sunny. Morning Low: 13 Afternoon High: 26 Tuesday - Partly cloudy. 30% chance of late-day shower or thunderstorm. CANADA DAY Morning Low: 15 Afternoon High: 27 Wednesday - Partly cloudy. Morning Low: 15 Afternoon High: 26
