Sreerama Chandra Says Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone Were ‘Hot Couple' In YJHD

Last Updated: Sreerama Chandra, who gave Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani fans the timeless song Subhanallah, recently recalled his thoughts during Subhanallah's recording days. Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone 's starrer Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani remains a fan favourite to date. More than a decade since the release of the romantic comedy, audiences still love the epic love story, heartwarming portrayal of friendship and meaningful life lessons shown in the film. But what resonates deeply with fans are the soulful and foot-tapping soundtracks like Subhanallah, Kabira, Ilahi, Balam Pichkari and Dilliwali Girlfriend. Having said that, singer Sreerama Chandra, who gave YJHD fans the timeless song Subhanallah, recently recalled his thoughts during the song's recording days. He sat for a chat with an entertainment media portal and candidly shared that he wasn't sure whether it would make it to Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani's final cut. In an interview with Zoom, the singer and Indian Idol winner said, 'Back then, Arijit Singh was working with Pritam Dada. He was the one who played the song for me and recorded my voice. A couple of days later, Dada asked me to redub since the lyrics had changed. Dada was there. I wasn't sure whether the song would make it to the film. Two to three months later, the first song, Balam Pichkari's promo, was released. I had recorded the song, but Vishal Dadlani's version made it to the final cut." Elaborating further, Sreerama stated, 'I wasn't confident about Subhanallah's fate. It was the least and last promoted song. Sabhi gaane itne superhit the. After a few years, the song started getting popular. While all other songs were enjoyed back then, Subhanallah found its audience now." 'But I'm proud of Subhanallah and am happy to see the response it has been getting now. A singer desires such feedback from the audience," he added, expressing his happiness for the overwhelming response. During the same chat, he explained why the makers promoted other songs over Subhanallah. Sreeram said, 'Back then, dance numbers were popular. Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone were the hot couple, and songs like 'Dilliwali Girlfriend' were commercial. Subhanallah was a melody of young love. I believe melodies have a better shelf life than dance numbers." Coming to Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, the film released on May 31, 2013. The romantic drama, directed by Ayan Mukerji, also starred Kalki Koechlin and Aditya Roy Kapur in lead roles. Sreerama Chandra's musical journey began in 2006 after renowned music director Mickey J Meyer gave him the opportunity to sing for the movie Notebook. However, his win in Indian Idol season 5 in 2010 proved to be a turning point in his career, paving the way for his appearances in several Telugu and Bollywood films. A year after winning the trophy of Indian Idol, he made his Bollywood debut in 2011 with the movie Mere Brother Ki Dulhan. Sreerama has continued to captivate audiences with his melodious voice over the years, contributing to chartbusters from films like Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, 1920: London, All Is Well, Sanam Teri Kasam, Race 3, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, Raees, Khiladi 786, and, most recently, Chandu Champion. Sanam Teri Kasam singer Sreerama Chandra reacts to Harshvardhan Rane-Mawra Hocane row: 'No matter what…'

Amid India-Pakistan tensions, once again the Bollywood industry has taken a call to ban Pakistani actors from being a part of Indian cinema. From Fawad Khan to Hania Aamir, many Pakistani actors and actresses were dropped by Indian filmmakers from their movies. In the midst of all this, another big controversy has surfaced when the lead actors of Sanam Teri Kasam — Harshvardhan Rane and Mawra Hocane — got involved in a verbal spat. The matter flared up when Rane announced that he would make an exit from Sanam Teri Kasam sequel if Mawra Hocane was involved. Following this, Mawra also took to her Instagram and criticised Harshvardhan's exit as a 'PR strategy.' In the midst of all these ongoing words of war, Sreerama Chandra, singer of Haal-E-Dil from Sanam Teri Kasam, in an exclusive conversation with opened up on the matter and shared his opinion on Harsh's move. When Sreerama Chandra was asked whether the decision of Harsh stepping down from the film was right or wrong, the singer responded by saying, 'A growing country or a citizen of a growing country would not want to go for war because it only takes the country backwards from where it is currently. We have come very far because of our Prime Minister Modi Ji, we have reached a certain place on the world map where people have a respect for us. And you know India is a growing country, and people are looking forward to the people of India being on the top level.' He added, 'Because we, as artists, when we travel, you see a lot of difference when you say that you're from India and you are a musician or from Bollywood. It's popular worldwide. Me personally, I would not want India to get into a war situation because everyone suffers. And, hamari entertainment industry toh aise hai ki we are the first ones to get affected and we are the last ones to start operating.' He concluded by saying, 'Coming to what you asked, it is completely very subjective and completely very personal. Everyone should be hand in hand. Unity is what we need to survive on and if our country is going through a tough phase, then we need to stand with our country, no matter what. So I feel as far as someone is supporting the country for a good cause, you should just keep doing that.' Meanwhile, in the recent development in the matter, the makers of the film have decided to drop Mawra Hocane from Sanam Teri Kasam sequel.
