The Hyderabad-based family was on vacation in the US and returning to Dallas from Atlanta when the tragedy occurred. The victims' car was reduced to ashes, and their bodies were burned beyond recognition. Local authorities have sent the remains of the victims for forensic analysis. According to the police, DNA samples will be used to identify the victims before handing over the bodies to their next of kin. In a similar incident last September, four Indians were killed in a multi-vehicle collision in Anna, Texas. They were carpooling when a speeding truck hit their SUV from the rear, causing it to burst into flames. The victims were identified as Aryan Raghunath Orampati, Farooq Shaik, Lokesh Palacharla, and Darshini Vasudevan. In August 2024, an Indian-origin couple and their daughter were killed in a car crash in Texas. Their car also caught fire after being hit by another speeding vehicle. A 40-year-old man and his son were killed after their motorcycle was hit by a speeding truck on the Meerut-Karnal highway in the Shamli district of Uttar Pradesh, police said on Saturday. The incident occurred on Friday night in the Jhinjhana police station area. Station House Officer (SHO) Jitendra Sharma said Kausar and his six-year-old son, Farman, were riding a motorcycle when it was hit by a speeding truck near Vedkhedi Morh. The truck driver fled the scene, abandoning his vehicle. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem, the SHO added.

The family had been living in an area in Dallas, and were returning from a visit to some relatives, reports said.(X/@NewsMeter_In) The SUV ran head-on into a truck being driven on the wrong side of the road in the horrific accident on a highway in Greene County near Dallas, Texas, on Sunday, July 6. The victims were reported to be Venkat Bejugam (aka Sri Venkat), his wife Tejaswini Cholleti and their two children, Siddarth and Mrida Bejugam – all pronounced dead on the spot. On X, viral posts about the crash included one with a video that showed a large SUV on fire. HT could not independently verify the authenticity of the video. Police did not immediately name the victims as only the bones remained by the time fire tenders could put out the blaze. The family, on a summer road trip, had been living in the US for some time, at Sutton Fields in Aubrey, near Dallas, and had just spent a week with extended family in Atlanta. They were on their way back to Dallas, and were not very far from home, when the crash happened, according to NRI Pulse. They reportedly belong to Hyderabad's sister city, Secunderabad. A welfare organisation called TEAM Aid is working with the authorities and the Indian consulate to have the bodies sent to India, multiples outlets reported. Texas has seen similar accidents in which NRIs have lose their lives. In September 2024, four Indians were killed in Anna, Texas, when a speeding truck hit their SUV from behind at hight speed, causing it to burst into flames. Barely a month before that, an Indian couple and their daughter died in a blaze after a car accident in Texas; their son survived the accident.

All four occupants were trapped inside the vehicle and perished at the scene, their bodies burnt beyond recognition. The intensity of the blaze left the car completely gutted, prompting authorities to initiate DNA testing to establish their identities. The family had reportedly been living in the U.S. for a few years. An official from the Petbasheerabad police said that the relatives of the family have left for the U.S. to collect the bodies. The final rites are expected to be performed in India, following the completion of formalities. Officials from the Indian consulate are coordinating with U.S. authorities to expedite the process, while the cause of the accident in under investigation.
