Breaking barriers, building future: A tribe's rise to the top
KURNOOL: S Naga Swamy Naik, a 50- year-old from a poor tribal family, has risen to become the Principal of Government Vocational College, setting an inspiring example for many. His life is a testament to the power of relentless perseverance and a heart for service, demonstrating what can be achieved even against the steepest odds. Born in Velugodu village in Andhra Pradesh's Kurnool district, Naik defied all social and economic barrier to become a college principal. His journey is not just inspiring but transformative. SVU ORI director briefs TTD chairman on rare palm-leaf manuscripts collection
Tirupati: Sri Venkateswara University's Oriental Research Institute (ORI) Director Prof PC Venkateswarlu met Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Chairman BR Naidu at his camp office in Tirumala on Monday and apprised him of the institute's rare and ancient palm-leaf manuscripts collection. Prof Venkateswarlu highlighted that the institute houses over 16,000 palm-leaf manuscripts and is one of the most renowned oriental research centres in South India. He invited the Chairman to visit the institute and explore the treasures first-hand. Responding positively, Chairman Naidu assured that he would visit the institute in July. He acknowledged that the Oriental Research Institute was once under the purview of TTD and is currently supported through grants by Sri Venkateswara University. During the meeting, the Director also presented the Chairman with the institute's published journals, the Valmiki Charitra, and the Bhagavad Gita authored by Peda Tirumalacharyulu.

APPGCET results released; 88.6% candidates qualify
Tirupati: Minister for human resource development Nara Lokesh formally released the results of the Andhra Pradesh Post Graduate Common Entrance Test (APPGCET) – 2025 on Twitter on Wednesday. Speaking to the media in Tirupati on the occasion, Sri Venkateswara University Vice-Chancellor and APPGCET chairman Prof Ch Appa Rao said that 88.6 per cent of candidates secured ranks, with 19,488 candidates qualifying out of the 21,995 who appeared for the exams. Registrar Prof M Bhupathi Naidu, principals of various colleges, and deans were present at the press conference. The Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) entrusted Sri Venkateswara University with the responsibility of organising the APPGCET this year. The entrance test was conducted from June 9 to 12 across 31 subjects for 143 postgraduate courses offered by 17 universities in the state. Prof PC Venkateswarlu served as the convenor of the CET, while Prof K Surendra Babu was the co-convenor. Among those who appeared for the exam, 13,485 were women, of whom 12,025 passed, recording a pass percentage of 89 percent. Among the 8,510 men who took the test, 7,463 qualified, resulting in a pass rate of 87.7 percent. The results are available online at

APPGCET results see 88.6% pass rate with girls outperforming boys
As many as 88.6% of the candidates who have taken the Andhra Pradesh Post Graduate Common Entrance Test (APPGCET 2025) this year are eligible to join the post graduate programmes across the State this academic year. Minister for Human Resource Development Nara Lokesh formally released the APPGCET 2025 results on Twitter, which were announced by SV University Vice-Chancellor Ch. Appa Rao at the campus here on Wednesday, in the presence of the Registrar M. Bhupathi Naidu, Convener P.C. Venkateswarlu, principals and deans. Of the 25,688 candidates who had applied for the test, 21,995 appeared, out of which 19,488 passed, which takes the pass percentage to 88.6. Women candidates excelled in terms of the number of applicants as well as the passed candidates. A total of 12,025 women candidates out of the 13,485 passed, taking the pass percentage to 89%. On the other hand, 7,463 out of the 8,510 male applicants passed, which pegs the pass percentage at 87.7%. Some subjects were merged in the common entrance test this year keeping the convenience of students. As a result, the tests were held for a total of 31 subjects. Similarly, the question papers were provided in English as well as Telugu, keeping in mind the students who had pursued under graduation in Telugu medium. It may be recalled here that Sri Venkateswara University conducted the entrance test for the first time this year, on behalf of the Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE). The notification was issued on March 31 and the online application process was on from April 2 to May 25. The tests were conducted in a peaceful manner in 10 sessions from June 9 to 12, while the certificates of Physical Education candidates were verified on June 13 and 14.
