Police investigating playground fire in northwest Edmonton

Edmonton police are seeking the public's assistance with an investigation into a suspicious fire that occurred Saturday morning.
A statement from police said they noticed smoke in the area of 122 Avenue and 128 Street around 8 a.m.

Officers attended the blaze which was set to the playground of St. Pius X Catholic Elementary School in the Sherbrooke neighbourhood.

Edmonton Fire Rescue Services extinguished the fire. No injuries were reported and the school was not affected.
Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the fire and have closed off access to the playground.

Anyone with information about the fire is asked to contact Edmonton police at 780-423-4567. Those with dash or security camera footage in the area between 5 a.m. and 8 a.m. are also asked to get in touch with police.
