A new Xbox exclusive is coming to PS5 and PS5 Pro and it's a massive RPG
One of the best RPGs of recent years is coming to PS5. Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl was a major exclusive for the Xbox Series X and S, but now it's heading to PlayStation An Xbox in-house team has announced that its highly praised recent game will be making its way to PlayStation, complete with new features for DualSense controllers and the PS5 Pro. Microsoft 's strategy of expanding across the gaming sector as part of its plan to transform everything (and paradoxically, nothing) into an Xbox appears to be faltering. This is suggested by the recent spate of Xbox game cancellations and redundancies. It's somewhat humiliating for such a colossal company to let go of so many staff members, particularly while it continues to invest heavily in developing its own handheld console with ROG, as unveiled at this year's summer showcase season. Moreover, it's likely losing a significant amount of profit through its Xbox Game Pass service. While it's a tiresome spectacle, it doesn't mean that the company has ceased efforts to introduce Xbox-owned titles onto other platforms. This is evident from the release of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle on PS5 and the unexpected debut of Grounded on Nintendo Switch. This cross-platform expansion is certainly positive news for consumers. Even though Sea of Thieves hasn't yet made it to the Switch or Switch 2, despite being ideally suited for Nintendo 's ecosystem, it seems that the company is still striving to reach every corner of the industry. On the flip side, the launch of Helldivers 2 on Xbox is progressing smoothly. A groundbreaking development has just emerged, with official confirmation that an in-house Xbox studio is set to bring its outstanding RPG to PlayStation before the year's end. Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl is coming to PS5 later this year
Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl is coming to PS5. On Wednesday, developer GSC Game World said the shooter will launch on Sony's console later this year. To say Stalker 2 had a long development process would be an understatement. We're talking 14 years here. After navigating funding issues, the studio nearly being shut down and a transition to Unreal Engine 5, it was delayed again and again... and again. Then, right when things were looking up, along came Vladimir Putin. See, GSC Game World is a Ukrainian developer based in Kyiv. After Russia's 2022 invasion, GSC paused development and later relocated part of its team to Prague. Sadly, a designer on the team was killed in the war. Work resumed nonetheless. When the game finally arrived in November 2024, it was only available on PC and Xbox. That exclusivity window is now set to end, accompanied by the cheeky PS5 announcement trailer below. Stalker 2 sold a million copies in its first two days. However, it landed with bugs aplenty (an all-too-familiar story these days). GSC has been pushing updates to clean it up ever since. In other words, the wait for PS5 owners may end up being a good thing. You can wishlist the game now on the PlayStation Store. Although we know it's coming "late this year," we don't yet have a firm release date.
