‘Star Wars' Hits The Charts Following ‘Revenge Of The Sith' Box Office Coup

It seems that no matter how much time passes, anything connected to the Star Wars franchise will not only make money, but continue to generate revenue, even if it's been years or possibly decades since fans were first introduced to a piece of media. To celebrate the twentieth anniversary of Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, the movie was recently put back into theaters. It proved to be a hugely successful re-release, and the popularity of the sometimes-maligned entry in the franchise has crossed over to the Billboard rankings, where the music that soundtracked the film is charting once again. The Revenge of the Sith soundtrack is back on multiple tallies in the U.S. this week. The project, which is credited to John Williams and the London Symphony Orchestra, along with the choral group London Voices, reappears on a pair of Billboard rankings this week. It's a top 10 hit once more as it reenters the Classical Crossover Albums list at No. 10. It also lands in the lucky thirteenth spot on the slightly-broader Classical Albums ranking. Revenge of the Sith has already spent more than 100 weeks on both tallies. It previously reached No. 1 on each list and has logged 102 weeks on the Classical Albums chart, and just three additional frames on the Classical Crossover Albums roster. In the United States, between April 25 and 27, Revenge of the Sith was the second-highest-grossing movie, despite the fact that it was originally released two decades ago. With more than $25 million in ticket sales, it beat out new arrivals like The Accountant 2 and Until Dawn. The Star Wars flick fell slightly behind Sinners, which earned another stay at No. 1 at the box office — its third in a row — with over $45 million in ticket sales. The twentieth anniversary release of Revenge of the Sith has thus far earned $55 million globally. That places it within the top 20 top-grossing movies of the year all around the world. The original run of the film was vastly more successful, racking up more than $900 million. With the movie – the third in the second trilogy of Star Wars movies – being so massively popular, it's no wonder that the music that's featured within the final installment in that series has become successful again as well.

Ben Affleck's ‘The Accountant 2' fights for second place as ‘Sinners' leads box office, while ‘Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith' shines in re-release

twitter It was reported that this weekend is shaping up to be a major one for the film industry, with three big titles making waves at the box office. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ben Affleck 's latest film, ' The Accountant 2 ', is competing closely with the re-released ' Star Wars: Episode III ' – Revenge of the Sith, while Sinners continues to outperform expectations in its second weekend. Revenge of the Sith, brought back to theaters by Disney and Lucasfilm to celebrate its 20th anniversary, earned $3.4 million during Thursday previews. That total beat out the $2.5 million preview earnings of 'The Accountant 2', which included early screenings held on April 15, known as 'Tax Day.' Despite the early lead by Revenge of the Sith, 'The Accountant 2' is reportedly gaining ground. Industry insiders shared that it could make between $23 million and $25 million over the weekend, which might be enough to take second place. Meanwhile, Sinners is the frontrunner, with projections suggesting it could make between $30 million and $40 million, thanks to excellent reviews and strong word-of-mouth. The rerelease of 'Revenge of the Sith' is doing much better than recent Star Wars rereleases. Last year, The Phantom Menace brought in $8.7 million on opening weekend, and Return of the Jedi made $5.1 million in 2023. Now, Sith could become one of the most successful re-releases in the franchise's history. As for 'The Accountant 2', the sequel reunites Ben Affleck with director Gavin O'Connor and features returning and new cast members, including Jon Bernthal and J.K. Simmons. The film has been received positively by viewers, scoring a 93% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes and 76% from critics — a big improvement over the first film's 53%. It premiered at SXSW and even won the Audience Award in the Headliners category. Meanwhile, Sinners, a vampire thriller starring Michael B. Jordan, has become a surprise hit. On Thursday alone, it earned $6.1 million, bringing its total to $77.5 million in just one week. The film had a strong $48 million opening over Easter weekend and has been praised by both critics and fans. Some say it's filmmaker Ryan Coogler 's best work so far. Other films in theaters include A Minecraft Movie, which continues to do well and is close to reaching $400 million in the U.S., and Until Dawn, a horror movie from Sony and Screen Gems. However, Until Dawn only managed $1 million on Thursday and is expected to have a slow weekend with just around $7 million. While box office figures may change slightly by Saturday, early reports suggest Sinners will remain on top, with 'The Accountant 2' and Revenge of the Sith battling it out just behind it.
