Martin Freeman and Iain Armitage cast in The Adam Trials

Martin Freeman and Iain Armitage are to star in The Adam Trials. The duo have signed up to appear in the psychological thriller that contains a sci-fi twist from writer-director Ben Katai. The movie centres on the story of two parents who will do anything to save the life of their terminally ill son, including experimenting with nanotechnology that begins to show successful signs but at a dark cost. Compelling Pictures are producing the film whilst Freeman is on board as an executive producer with Noah Rosen, Dennis Casali, Matthew Gallagher and Steven Garcia. Casting for the female lead has started as the movie aims to shoot this year. Katai - who previously collaborated with Freeman on the crime drama series StartUp - said: "This movie has been a dream of mine for quite some time now, as has the opportunity to work with Martin again. "Now with Iain's talent in the mix, I am counting the seconds until we start rolling." Compelling Pictures boss Denis O'Sullivan said: "As lifelong fans of thought-provoking, grounded sci-fi, it's thrilling to be part of bringing this pressure-cooker of a movie to the screen with the enormously talented Ben Katai. "Audiences will be on the edge of their seats watching the cat-and-mouse game that unfolds between Martin and Iain as the story hurtles towards a stunning final twist." Martin's previous film credits include Love Actually and The Hobbit franchise and he revealed back in 2022 that he would "consider" directing a big screen flick. The 53-year-old actor told Collider: "It's something that I would consider. I do think about it. I change with it, really. Sometimes when I'm on set and I see what a director does, I look at it and go, 'Yeah, I could do that. I'd be right with this part of it.' However, the Black Panther star isn't sure if he has the "mental bandwidth" to deal with the "endless questions" that are asked of directors during the making of a movie. Martin said: "But then, there are other parts of directing that I'm still not sure I'd have the mental bandwidth for, just with the endless questions and how you have to be across everything. I know I would enjoy the bits where I'm rehearsing with actors. I don't know how good I'd be at the other stuff, or how much I'd enjoy that stuff. But never say never. If I get the confidence to think I could do it, then maybe so." The star plays CIA operative Everett K. Ross in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) but admits that there was a "gap" on set of the movie Black Panther: Wakanda Forever without the late Chadwick Boseman, who played the title role in the original film before his death from cancer at the age of 43 in 2020. Freeman said: "It was strange, that side of it. On the one hand, you're making the film that you're there to make, and there are scores and scores of people on set, joined in this endeavor to make the film. But there's also no question that, at the heart of it, there's quite a gap now, and you felt it."

Delusion Update: Bae Suzy and Kim Seon Ho's vampire series enters production stage, period fantasy set to release in 2026

Horror and mystery drama fans, get ready—there's a new series in the works. Bae Suzy and Kim Seon Ho are reuniting once again in the highly anticipated Disney+ original Delusion. After their widely praised performances in the beloved drama Start Up, the two actors are set to bring their undeniable chemistry to a completely different story — a dark, atmospheric period drama filled with horror, mystery, and fantasy. What more does one need? Right. The anticipation is over— Delusion is officially confirmed to premiere on Disney+ in 2026. But that leaves the audience with the series plot. Delusion is adapted from a popular webtoon and unfolds across two historical periods: 1935 Gyeongseong (modern-day Seoul under Japanese rule) and the 19th-century Shanghai. The series centers on Song Jeong Hwa (Bae Suzy), a broken-hearted woman, and Yun I Ho (Kim Seon Ho), a painter she hires to capture her portrait. But questions remain - Is she a human? Or blood-sucking wall-crawling unearthy creature - A Vampire? Though details about the story are closely guarded, early hints suggest a haunting exploration of loneliness, desire, and supernatural secrets that slowly unravel over time. Directed by Han Jae Rim, who previously earned praise for his work on The 8 Show, will helm the new series. Delusion promises a rich blend of historical drama and chilling horror, layered with mystery and emotional complexity. The reunion of Bae Suzy and Kim Seon Ho — both award-winning actors known for their nuanced performances in Start Up, is already sparking excitement.

Wellness Studio Launches in Cardiff With Start Up Loan Support

A new wellness concept is opening its doors in Cardiff thanks in part to £50,000 of Start Up Loans finance. Founded by 27-year-old Kelly Powling, OREN Wellness offers a premium space for movement, recovery and community. The studio specialises in reformer pilates, mat pilates, yoga and barre, alongside recovery therapies such as infrared saunas, red light therapy, and ice baths. OREN is also the first studio in Cardiff to offer on-demand reformer pilates, which allows clients to book solo sessions and follow expert-led workouts via a touchscreen kiosk and wireless headphones during off-peak hours. 'The idea for OREN started when I noticed how limited the reformer pilates options were in Cardiff', explains Kelly. 'But the more I researched, the more I realised this city was missing more than just one type of class. It needed a space that prioritised wellbeing as a whole, not just workouts. That's where the vision for OREN really came to life.' With a background in social media marketing, events, and brand building, Kelly already had a strong local following. She's the founder of Fierce Femmes, a 4,500-strong community for women, co-owns Penny's Podcast Studio in South Wales, and runs the @cardifffoodie blog, where she's collaborated with more than 100 independent businesses. To support the launch of OREN, Kelly secured a Start Up Loan through the British Business Bank, providing the funding needed to turn her studio concept into a fully operational business. Kelly and her co-director applied for two loans of £25,000 each, which were received in stages to help manage their cash flow. The funding covered critical early-stage costs, including the unit deposit, reformer beds, interior design, legal fees, branding, and equipment for their bespoke recovery suite. 'The Start Up Loan was absolutely essential in bringing OREN to life', says Kelly. 'It gave us the momentum and means to move forward confidently, and the process itself was so much more human than I expected. Our loan advisor was incredible – supportive, accessible and genuinely invested in our success.' Beyond funding, the pair also received access to business mentoring and ongoing guidance, which Kelly says 'made all the difference' in those early months. The studio plans to partner with like-minded local businesses, complementary brands, and content creators. Looking ahead, Kelly is ambitious about what OREN can bring to the city. 'OREN is about more than just exercise – it's a lifestyle. We're creating a space that helps people slow down, reset, and feel better in every sense. That's the future of wellness, and we're so excited to be a part of shaping it in Cardiff.' Jess Phillips-Harris, Senior Manager for Wales at the British Business Bank, said: 'OREN is a fantastic example of how Start Up Loans can help turn vision into reality. Kelly and her team have built something truly special – a business that not only meets demand but brings real value to the community. We're proud to support passionate founders just like her who are helping to redefine established sectors with purpose and creativity.'
