Jermaine Dupri Spotlights ATL Strip Club Culture With 'Magic City' Docuseries

Jermaine Dupri, renowned Atlanta producer and cultural icon, is set to unveil Magic City: An American Fantasy , a five-part docuseries premiering August 15 on Starz. The project dives deep into Atlanta's strip club scene, painting it as a fundamental, though often misunderstood, part of the city's identity. Dupri argues that strip clubs in Atlanta are not just places of entertainment, but crucial spaces for music, business, and community. 'People don't want to look at it as a cultural thing for some reason,' he said, comparing the way LA's street style is celebrated as culture. 'Atlanta's culture includes our strip clubs, but it gets left out because people see it as risque.' Central to the series is Magic City, the legendary club where artists, entertainers, and business leaders regularly convene. 'We go on the day shift, night shift, to have meetings, kick it, or even celebrate. It's the spot that's there for all things,' Dupri emphasized. Music, unsurprisingly, is a key focus. Atlanta's strip clubs have long been sites where DJs break new records, giving songs a path to radio and national prominence. As Dupri put it, 'The strip club still breaks records. You might hear music in Magic City before it hits the radio. It's a testing ground, just like mixtapes used to be.' Backing the story, Dupri curated a star-studded, Atlanta-only soundtrack. The lead single, 'Turn Around,' features T.I., 2 Chainz, and Young Dro. 'Even though people assume I've worked with them before, this is my first time collaborating with them,' he revealed. Other contributors include Ludacris, Big Boi, and Killer Mike. 'I wanted to make sure this was an album that only included artists from Atlanta—this city deserves that.' While the docuseries promises tasteful storytelling, Dupri notes it won't shy away from the realities of strip club life. Starz embraced the concept, branding the series as honest, adult entertainment. For Dupri, Magic City: An American Fantasy is 'a love letter' to Atlanta culture. With exclusive access, homegrown music, and a clear message—Atlanta's strip club culture is a powerful, enduring force—it is sure to spark conversation when it streams this August. 50 Cent Joins "Street Fighter" Movie

Yara Sameh Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson is the latest addition to the eclectic cast of "Street Fighter", Legendary Entertainment's feature adaptation of the classic Capcom video game. The call sheet ranges from A-lister Jason Momoa as Blanka to heartthrob Noah Centineo as Ken to country singer Orville Peck as Vega and Andrew Schulz as Dan Hibiki. Joe Anoa'i, aka WWE superstar Roman Reign, and martial artist-actor Andrew Koji (Warrior) are on the roll call as battler Akuma and lead character Ryu, respectively. Callina Liang (Presence) is playing Chun-Li. The rapper turned actor and entrepreneur will play Balrog, a disgraced boxer who is also the bodyguard of the villain. Sources say Jackson is deep into training for the part and will be doing his stunts for the adaptation. Kitao Sakurai (The Eric Andre Show) is directing the feature, which begins production in August in Australia. Legendary is co-developing and co-producing alongside Capcom. While the film's plot remains under wraps, Street Fighter, launched in 1987, is a series of fighting games revolving around intense one-on-one battles between martial artists. The games are often centered around a global fighting tournament organized by M. Bison, the leader of the evil organization Shadaloo. Street Fighter has sold over 55 million units worldwide since its launch, making it one of the most well-known and highest-grossing video game franchises of all time. The Grammy-winning Jackson, who has sold over 30 million albums, is known in Hollywood circles for his TV empire fueled by the various Power series for Starz. His G-Unit Film & Television also produced ABC's For Life and recently completed production on season four of "Black Mafia" Family for Starz, along with season two of the Black Mafia Family docuseries. In 2024, Jackson partnered with Lionsgate to launch 50 Cent Action, a FAST channel that has since been named the No. 1 action channel on Roku and LG FAST platforms. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks Videos & Features Video: Trending Lifestyle TikToker Valeria Márquez Shot Dead during Live Stream News Shell Unveils Cost-Cutting, LNG Growth Plan Technology 50-Year Soviet Spacecraft 'Kosmos 482' Crashes into Indian Ocean

Outlander: A Few Verra Good Reasons to Give Lord John His Own Spinoff Series

Warning: This post contains spoilers for the verse, including but not limited to events that happen in the books and the Lord John novels/novellas. Proceed with caution, aye? In the midst of another Droughtlander, how do Fraser aficionados entertain ourselves? We revisit the idea of spinoff TV series centered on David Berry's Lord John Grey. More from TVLine Prime Video Launches Hallmark+/Starz Streaming Bundle - Here's How to Sign Up Mariska Hargitay Thinks Benson and Stabler Should Get Together in SVU's Last Episode - Respectfully? Nope. Outlander: Blood of My Blood Renewed for Season 2 Ahead of Series Premiere Here's a short primer for those unfamiliar with author Diana Gabaldon and her work: Lord John is a British military man who was the governor of Ardsmuir Prison, where Jamie was an inmate in Season 3. The two struck up an improbable friendship in spite of the fact that Grey is a gay man with feelings for the Scot, who doesna feel the same. Since then, John has become one of Jamie's closest friends and even agreed to raise Jamie's illegitimate son, William. (Long story.) At the current point in Starz series' adaptation of the novels, Lord John and Jamie are on the outs after Jamie beat him up for sleeping with Jamie's wife, Claire. (Much, much longer story — find out more about it here.) Lord John also is the central character of his own line of novels and novellas, which are set in the same universe as Outlander both before and after John meets the Frasers. Outlander's Final Season: Everything We Know So Far View List Yes, Starz already has an Outlander spinoff — the prequel Outlander: Blood of My Blood, which tells the story of Jamie and Claire's parents — coming in August. But all of this means that there's ample source material for another TV show, starring Berry and chronicling Grey's exploits in London and beyond. The actor himself told our sister site Deadline that such a series had been in the works at one point, but 'ultimately, at the time, it was decided that that wasn't the right fit, or wasn't the right thing for them. I was prepared to do it, and I'm still prepared to do it.' The more we think of it, the more we need this series to come to fruition: Lord John's story is dramatic, intriguing and inherently sexy (at one point, he says to Jamie, 'I tell you, sir — were I to take you to my bed — I could make you scream. And by God, I would do it.' TRY TO TELL US YOU'RE NOT INTERESTED NOW). Plus, there are plenty of opportunity for familiar faces — a certain redhead, perhaps? — to make an appearance or two. Scroll down to see all of our verra good reasons for Starz to greenlight a Lord John spinoff, then hit the comments with rationale of your own! While Outlander is historical fiction with a splash of time-travel, Diana Gabaldon's Lord John stories wrap historical fiction around mysteries. A potential spinoff television adaptation could be Sherlock-style fun, with a compelling leading man using his sleuthing skills to solve the problems (and often murders) at hand. Lord John is a closeted gay man in both the Outlander series and his own string of stories, but that in no way means he lives like a monk. A standalone series could explore his rather varied tastes in romantic partners… … including Hanoverian Capt. Stephan Von Namtzen (whom we've dream cast here with TURN: Washington's Spies' Ian Kahn… … or maybe even Sleepy Hollow alum Neil Jackson)… … and indigenous guide-with-benefits Manoke (whom we wouldn't mind seeing Dark Winds' Kiowa Gordon play). Those familiar with Gabaldon's Lord John and the Brotherhood of the Blade and The Scottish Prisoner know that John has more run-ins with Jamie during his years as a prisoner than the Starz series has depicted. These range in tone (that scene in the stable, woah) and circumstance (trip to Ireland, anyone?) and offer a fuller picture of the two men's path to hard-won friendship… … which is a verra good reason for Outlander's Sam Heughan to make a guest appearance or two, aye? Speaking of characters who appear in both of Gabaldon's fiction streams, a Lord John spinoff would give us more time with the deliciously wicked Geillis Duncan, with whom Grey has a very interesting conversation in Lord John and the Plague of Zombies. Meanwhile, Percy Wainwright — the mysterious man whom the Starz series introduced in Season 7 — makes his debut in a Lord John novella and later shows up in the Outlander novels; he'd be another easy crossover character. Would watch a Lord John spinoff? Hit the comments and let us know why or why not! Outlander: Blood of My Blood season two announced ahead of launch

Outlander fans were treated to an unexpected announcement regarding the prequel Outlander: Blood of My Blood. Outlander fans are absolutely over the moon after the network Starz dropped the unexpected announcement. The broadcaster is going all in the Outlander universe, renewing Outlander: Blood Of My Blood for a second season, even before the first season has aired a single episode. ‌ In a statement, Blood of My Blood's showrunner and executive producer Matthew B. Roberts said: "The passion and talent our cast and crew have poured into Outlander: Blood of my Blood has been extraordinary and we're thrilled to continue these epic love stories in season two." ‌ "Just as audiences fell in love with Jamie and Claire, we hope viewers will be enamoured by these new couples when they meet them this summer," he continued. And much to the excitement of fans the production for season two of Outlander: Blood Of My Blood, is already in production. Kicking off earlier this week in the Scottish Highlands, in the exact same location Outlander was filmed over the last decade. The prequel follows the romance between Ellen MacKenzie and Brain Fraser, parents of Sam Heughan's beloved character Jamie Fraser. As well as exploring the connection between Julia Moriston and Henry Beauchamp, the parents to Caitríona Balfe's character Claire Fraser. The story is set in the battlefields of World War I and the rugged Highlands of 18th century Scotland. The two couples face challenges that try to tear them apart, intersecting them in surprising and unforeseen ways. ‌ The first season of Outlander: Blood of My Blood will premiere on August 8, with new episodes available to stream weekly on Fridays via Starz on Amazon Prime Video. The news of a second season came as a surprise to Outlander fans, as Outlander: Blood of My Blood was expected to be a limited series, with only ten episodes. Amid the news of season two, the official Outlander Instagram shared a series of unexpected snaps of the cast, alongside the caption: "We've only just begun: #BloodOfMyBlood has started production on Season 2!" ‌ The first picture featured an exciting image of the four main characters, who will be played by Jeremy Irvine, Harriet Slater, Hermione Corfield and Jamie Roy as they smiled at the camera in a group selfie. Fans were quick to share their excitement in the comments, with one fan writing: "What amazing news! I'm already counting down to BOMB's premiere - and Season 2 is already underway?! So exciting!" ‌ As another jokingly stated: "Season 1 isn't even out yet but season 2 is already starting. Oh yeah, I've got a good feeling about the trauma to come." While a third voice their congratulations, saying: "OMG!!! I'm not even surprised because we know this show is going to be that GOOD. Congrats to everyone," alongside fire and clapping emojis. However, a fan was quick to question, when season eight of Outlander was coming out, writing: "Love thaaaat but we also need season 8 date???" As of right now it is unclear when Outlander will be airing its eighth and final season.

Outlander's Sam Heughan fans issued stark warning over Edinburgh International Book Festival tickets

Outlander star Sam Heughan is set to hold a cocktail event at The Edinburgh International Book Festival in August with tickets selling out in minutes The Edinburgh International Book Festival (EIBF) has issued a warning to ticket holders after a "huge" demand for tickets to Sam Heughan at this year's event. The festival organisers admitted they were not 'totally surprised' that tickets for the sold-out event, on August 23, had proved to be popular due to the Outlander star's presence. However, the demand has meant that many people unfortunately missed out on tickets and warned that only those bought through the official website would be valid. Festival bosses also cautioned that tickets would not be transferable. ‌ The EIBF event, Sam Heughan: On the Rocks, will see the actor, best known for playing Jamie Fraser in the Starz show, present his own cocktail masterclass, ahead of the publication of his new book, The Cocktail Diaries: A Spirited Adventure, in September. Tickets cost £14 each and sold out within hours of tickets becoming available on Saturday June 21, the Scotsman reports. ‌ A EIBF statement posted on social media said: 'There's been huge demand for our Sam Heughan: On the Rocks event this morning, and we're sorry that not everyone has been able to get the tickets they were hoping for. 'Please be aware that any tickets purchased for this event are non-transferable, and that tickets not purchased directly from the Edinburgh International Book Festival will not be valid for entry to the event. We would hate for anyone to be disappointed on arrival.' The post added: 'We can't say we're totally surprised that Sam Heughan's event has sold out already, but for anyone who didn't get a ticket, do make sure to sign up to our mailing list in case any returns get released. 'There are still hundreds of incredible events with tickets available, including many with a focus on the fascinating topic of Scottish history.' ‌ Some diehard Outlander fans from across the pond had even been trying to get their hands on tickets as the Starz show is very popular in America. One fan, Jessica Torrey, commented on the EIBF's social media post: 'So disappointed! Up at my computer at 4 a.m. Minnesota, USA. "Thought I might actually make this happen, with only about 900 people ahead of me when queue opened and it moving rapidly. ‌ 'Had no idea only about 300 tickets available. Dream trip to Scotland coming up and this would have been amazing. Going to continue manifesting this. Not giving up all hope just yet.' The Scots actor, who will soon make his Royal Shakespeare Company debut in Macbeth, will discuss the significance of cocktails as well as his journey to stardom during the event. Other high profile appearances at this year's festival include former first minister Nicola Sturgeon, authors Irvine Welsh and Maggie O'Farrell and Heartstopper writer Alice Oseman. Actors Brian Cox, Viggo Mortensen and Vanessa Redgrave will also take part in events. This year's festival's programme is based around the theme of Repair, seeking to explore things which feel broken, and looking at how they could be fixed – from the physical to the political, the emotional to the environmental, and beyond.
