Fleeing Police, Suspect Carjacks BMW To Keep Running

Read the full story on The Auto Wire This police chase featuring a Georgia trooper driving like a professional wheelman, a suspect carjacking a BMW, and more is gripping. It's more nerve racking and interesting than just about any movie car chase scene as a desperate suspect and a desperate trooper match starts with the trooper trying to pull over a crappy car (a Nissan Sentra?) for a traffic violation. The thing is beat up, has a busted taillight, and it's not a great option for fleeing from police. Still, the suspect tries to run. But soon enough he pulls into a parking lot and ditches the econo-box, running away on foot and using a gun to carjack a BMW from some poor innocent bystander. As the guy tears out of the neighborhood where he took the Bimmer, cops start swarming. We can't imagine what the guy's thinking with the extreme show of force, but he keeps on driving like crazy to try getting away. He gaps the trooper by a good distance before too long, pushing the little German car for all it's worth. But the trooper keeps it together, relying on his training even though he knows in the back of his mind if he loses the armed and clearly dangerous man, some innocent person might be killed. Taking to the interstate, the suspect passes on the shoulders, thanks to fairly thick traffic. There are plenty of close calls as the speed and potential danger of the chase elevate dramatically. One close call in particular with another cruiser crossing the median makes the trooper scream in terror as he almost wrecks out. All that hard driving leads to one of the tires on the BMW blowing out. He keeps pushing the stolen car, even though he's clearly having trouble controlling it. Sadly, we don't get to see the conclusion to this chase, apparently because YouTube thought it was too much. We see him crash the BMW, but in the rest of the foot he gets out with the gun pointed at his head. Somehow, troopers are able to de-escalate the situation and take the guy into custody without further violence. Fleeing Trooper, Chrysler 300 Wrecks Into Innocent Bystanders

Read the full story on The Auto Wire It's always unfortunate when a suspect flees police, then hits innocent bystanders, like what this guy in a Chrysler 300 did in Atlanta. Pulled over by a trooper for having window tint that wasn't in compliance, he turned what would've been a small violation into a dangerous crash for him and several other know in these situations some people automatically blame cops. Apparently, in their minds the suspects who run have zero culpability for causing a crash. We're not sure how these people then rationalize what happens in places with no-chase policies and suspects still speed away, causing a crash even though no police are chasing them. This guy drives the Chrysler 300 like he stole it, even though there's no indication it wasn't his. He drives on the shoulder, weaves through the dense traffic, and does everything he can to ditch the trooper after pulling over and pretending to comply. But the fleeing suspect makes a miscalculation, slamming into some cars and a commercial truck while attempting to squeeze in between them. The violent collision flips one of the victim's vehicles while also leaving the Chrysler mangled and disabled. Troopers have to secure the suspect first. After all, they don't know if he's armed and will try to shoot them or carjack another innocent bystander. It's not until later the reason for the guy fleeing comes out: he's a wanted man. The guy has a warrants for his arrest for failing to appear in court and for violating parole. In other words, his reckless actions had nothing to do with the window tint and everything to do with violations he committed long before. Sadly, other people paid the price of this guy's irresponsibility. But do you think the trooper is at fault at all in this crash? Did he make the suspect drive recklessly? Brutal Takedown: Fleeing In Stolen Toyota, Suspect Gets Pitted Into A Concrete Wall

Read the full story on The Auto Wire Sometimes we can't believe the cars criminals use to try running from police, like this suspect caught in a stolen Toyota Corolla he tries using to run a couple of pursuing troopers off the highway. He even uses the little compact sedan to ram one of the Viriginia State Police cruisers a few times, utterly failing to push the little four banger hard enough to get footage shows the whole chase play out after a plate reader alerted troopers to the presence of the stolen Toyota. What anyone watching this who's dumb enough to drive around in a stolen vehicle should learn from this is if you're in a Corolla, just pull over and surrender. Running is going to be far more painful. But this individual seems to think he can get away. Look, if you can't smoke a couple of Ford Explorer Police Interceptors, well that's pathetic. Despite that glaring fact staring this guy in the face, he keeps pushing the Corolla for all it's worth, which in a police chase really isn't all that much. Don't get us wrong, a Corolla is a great car for a young driver or a price conscious commuter who also wants a vehicle that won't grenade its engine or transmission just north of 100,000 miles. But it's a horrible getaway ride. After the troopers deal with this fool ramming them, running them off the road, and slipping out of attempts to box him in, the gloves come off. That's when one of the troopers does a hard PIT maneuver, spinning the Toyota so it hits a concrete wall, spraying sparks everywhere. In a testament to the Corolla's durability, that doesn't concave the sedan's body structure but it does end the chase. Still, our suspect driver thinks he's a track star until a trooper wearing 50 lbs. of gear easily chases him down, showing he's about as slow as the stolen car he was driving. Sad.
