Libyan Forces Halt Gaza Solidarity Convoy at Sirte Entry Point
Taarek Refaat Security and military forces in eastern Libyan have stopped the Steadfastness Convoy, an initiative aimed at breaking the siege on the Gaza Strip, at the entrance to the city of Sirte, according to a statement released by the convoy's organizers. 'The security and military forces of the eastern Libyan authorities stopped the Steadfastness Convoy about half an hour ago at the entrance to the city of Sirte,' the statement read. The group appealed to authorities in Benghazi, urging them to honor the supportive tone expressed in a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs the previous evening. 'We call on the Benghazi authorities to reflect their welcoming stance toward our courageous initiative,' the statement said. 'We are confident that the hospitality of the Libyan people knows no distinction between East and West.' The convoy concluded by calling on all relevant parties to intervene and facilitate the continuation of their mission, which it described as 'carrying a noble message.' read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks News Shell Unveils Cost-Cutting, LNG Growth Plan Videos & Features Video: Trending Lifestyle TikToker Valeria Márquez Shot Dead during Live Stream Technology 50-Year Soviet Spacecraft 'Kosmos 482' Crashes into Indian Ocean News 3 Killed in Shooting Attack in Thailand

Libya welcomes "Steadfastness Convoy" for Gaza, calls for End to siege
Tripoli – Saba: Libya's Supreme Council of State has welcomed the entry of the Maghreb "Steadfastness Convoy" into Libyan territory, calling it "a living symbol of the connection between the Arab and Islamic peoples and the struggle of the Palestinian people." In a statement, the Council expressed deep welcome for the convoy, which traveled by land as part of popular and humanitarian efforts to break the unjust siege on Gaza and strengthen Arab solidarity. The convoy is seen as a "practical stance against the occupation and its inhumane practices, supporting Gaza's steadfastness. The Council affirmed Libya's unwavering commitment to the Palestinian cause, stating that such convoys send a clear message that the blockade is morally and legally unacceptable. It reiterated calls to activate humanitarian and diplomatic initiatives to lift the Gaza blockade, provide urgent relief, and ensure freedom of movement and supplies. The Maghreb Convoy involving hundreds of activists, departed Tunis on Monday morning, with its vanguard crossing into Libya via the Ras Jedir border crossing on Tuesday morning. Medical coordinator Mohammed Amin Balnour described the reception in Libya as "exceptional," with public greetings and official security salutes, and Libyans providing extensive aid. The initiative is part of a global movement by thousands of activists from 32 countries aiming to halt Israeli actions, break the Gaza siege, and deliver aid to over two million Palestinians facing hunger. The report notes that since October 7, 2023, Israel occupation, with American support, has been committing "genocide" in Gaza, ignoring international calls and ICJ orders.
