New Scottish steam train journey with 'fine dining and spectacular views' announced
Prices for the journey start at £120 per person. A new steam train journey in Scotland has been unveiled. The experience will include "fine dining and spectacular views". The newly announced Forth Bridge Lunchtime Tour will travel through the picturesque region of Fife and its surrounding historic villages. It has been described by operator Steam Dreams Rail Co. as a "truly unforgettable rail journey". Departing on November 29 from Edinburgh Waverley, the Forth Bridge Lunchtime Tour will hug the scenic coastline. It will then cross over the Forth Bridge, described as "one of the great engineering masterpieces of the world". Organisers state: "Seamlessly blending the grandeur of historic steam travel with charming vintage carriages and a truly exquisite Pullman Dining experience, it is the perfect early Christmas gift or special gourmet treat to share with a loved one or friends." The 4.5-hour circular tour will head from Edinburgh Waverley into Fife and along the coast towards Kirkcaldy. It will pass the Castle and beach at Aberdour and the beaches at Burntisland and Kinghorn, before turning back inland via Dunfermline. The locomotive will then head along the Forth Estuary onto a rarely used goods-only line, with stunning views along more than five miles of coastline. Travellers will pass the historic village of Culross and the edge of Torry Bay Local Nature Reserve. The journey will continue through Alloa and along the reopened route to Stirling. Finally, it will head south through Falkirk and then return to Edinburgh Waverley. According to the Steam Dreams Rail Co., the trip will form part of its four-day holiday from London to Edinburgh Christmas Market. This will take place between November 27 and 30. Head of Communications at Steam Dreams Juliet Soley commented: "We are thrilled that the legendary 60532 Blue Peter, one of the most powerful express steam locomotives ever built will be hauling our four-day holiday as well as the Forth Bridge lunchtime tour which departs from Edinburgh Waverley Station. "This is a rare opportunity to witness a true icon of British engineering as it steams through some of Scotland's most breathtaking landscapes." Passengers on the Forth Bridge Lunchtime Tour will be able to choose between three classes of travel. These are: Pullman Dining, First Class (non-dining) and Premium Standard (non-dining). Organisers state that Pullman Dining will offer an "exquisite onboard culinary experience". Inspired by the route, the menu will be crafted from locally sourced seasonal produce. Seated in armchair-style seating at "elegantly set" tables for two or four with white linens, fine china, glassware, and fresh flowers, it aims to replicate the opulence of the luxury travel era. Pullman Dining is priced at £285 per person. Meanwhile, First Class passengers will relax in cushioned seats around tables for two or four with large picture windows will offer scenic views. Priced at £175 per person, a glass of Fizz and freshly brewed coffee and tea will be provided. Finally, Premium Standard costs £120 per person and offers a journey onboard a "beautifully restored carriage that embodies the charm of a bygone era". Passengers can enjoy complimentary tea and coffee, while there will also be a Buffet Car with a selection of hot and cold snacks and a selection of wine, beer, spirits, and cold drinks.

'Enchanting' steam train to go from Southend to top UK Christmas spot
A new steam train journey taking passengers from south Essex to a top Christmas destination in the UK has been revealed. The "enchanting" journey from company Steam Dreams will take residents from Southend Central and Leigh to Oxford later this year. It is a one-day journey and offers two different dining options when aboard the train. Here is all you need to know about the exciting trip. This Steam Dreams journey will begin from Southend Central at 8am, before heading to pick up passengers from Leigh at 8.10am. The train has two more stops at Barking at 8.50am and Stratford at 9.10am, before heading to Oxford. After being welcomed aboard in Essex and winding around the capital, the journey hits the "majestic countryside". Steam Dreams says it will be an "enchanting steam train journey that blends festive charm with timeless elegance". You have two options in Oxfordshire to enjoy. The first stop is at the popular Bicester Village, scheduled for 12.45pm. Bicester Village is hugely popular (Image: Getty Images) Steam Dreams says: "For lovers of luxury shopping, Bicester Village awaits, with over 150 designer boutiques set along twinkling, snow dusted streets, with festive music filling the air." For those wishinig to stay on, the train heads to Oxford for 1pm. Here you can "explore the honey-coloured listed buildings and cobbled, winding lanes of Oxford". The popular Christmas Market on Broad Street "sparkles with twinkling lights and offers a charming array of handcrafted gifts, seasonal treats and warming mulled wine". On the way home, the train will leave Oxford and Bicester Village at 6.30pm and 6.45pm respectively, aiming to arrive back to Leigh at 10.30pm and Southend Central at 10.40pm. Guests will be welcomed with a signature Champagne cocktail, followed by a multicourse breakfast. On the return journey, wine is served alongside a seasonal evening meal, concluding with a cheese board, coffee and petit fours. First Class is aboard "elegantly restored carriages with comfortable and spacious seating around tables of two and four". It is for those "seeking a refined and leisurely journey without dining on board", with welcome drinks, tea and coffee on offer. "You can sink into your seat as scenic vistas unfold beyond the windows and indulge in your own picnic or our Classic Afternoon Tea," Steam Dreams explains. The steam train for the South Essex to Oxford journey is to be confirmed. The Steam Dreams Rail Co. was created by steam train enthusiast Marcus Robertson, whose mother wrote The Wombles. The website explains that his ambition was "to revive the era of luxury steam travel". It works to "blend the nostalgia of steam travel with vintage carriages, breathtaking scenery, captivating destinations, exquisite cuisine, and luxurious hotels". Tickets selling fast as unique steam train day-trip sets off from Southend this year
TICKETS are selling fast ahead of a unique steam train day-trip setting off from Southend to Wales this year. Steam Dreams Rail Co are set to take passengers from Shoebury, Southend Central and Leigh all the way to the Welsh capital - Cardiff. A vintage diesel will stop at the stations across the c2c line in Essex to pick up passengers before skirting London, where the steam locomotive joins for the rest of the journey. The train will steam out through the suburbs along the Thames Valley, following the Great Western Main Line, pass through pretty Bradford-upon-Avon and Bath on its way to the Severn Tunnel. From there, it will emerge to its final destination in Cardiff. It will depart from the first stop in Shoebury at 6.45am, finally arriving at Cardiff at 1.45pm before leaving the Welsh capital at 5pm and arriving back at 11pm. A Steam Dreams spokesman says: "This unique tour offers a fascinating adventure across country through time as we traverse England by steam, travelling past the country's rich tapestry of rolling scenery and feats of railway engineering, to visit the Welsh capital. "Spread between an ancient fort and an ultramodern waterfront, compact Cardiff provides an vibrant mix of old and new." Steam Dreams' website shows there is "limited availability" for the trip on Wednesday, April 16, as tickets are selling fast. Passengers will travel in vintage train carriages such as Pullman coaches, and can choose between two classes with packages which include the Steam Dreams signature Champagne cocktail and a multi-course breakfast. With prices ranging from £220 to £425 depending on the class, customers can book their tickets at The scheduled locomotive is the 70000 Britannia, however, it cannot be guaranteed and may be substituted for a different engine. In one of her most important roles, Britannia hauled The Royal Train from Preston to Wakefield in January 2012. For many years Britannia's cab roof was painted white to commemorate her pulling the funeral train of King George VI from Sandringham to London in 1952.
