Steelers HC Mike Tomlin provides injury update on Broderick Jones, estimated return date

Steelers fans rejoice — one former first-rounder dealing with an injury is set to return to training camp in the immediate future. On Tuesday, Steelers HC Mike Tomlin addressed OT Broderick Jones' lower-body, soft-tissue injury, telling reporters that the big offensive lineman should be back at practice on Wednesday. On Sunday, those in attendance spotted Jones having his groin area wrapped by medical staff, and it was reported he participated in no more than a handful of practice snaps — a far-from-ideal start for the third-year Steeler looking to break out this season. Jones' status on Wednesday will be closely monitored — but there is hope that this situation will serve as a only slight detour in an otherwise bounce-back Year 3 for the Steelers left tackle. We at Steelers Wire will keep you updated on the situation as more news and insight become available, with Pittsburgh set to participate in their first padded practice on Wednesday. Ex-Steelers FS Minkah Fitzpatrick breaks his silence following Dolphins trade

Once a Steeler, always a Steeler — and that couldn't be more true than for Pittsburgh's former All-Pro safety Minkah Fitzpatrick. Despite remaining silent following his trade to Miami and the first few days of Dolphins training camp, Fitzpatrick finally revealed his heartfelt, honest feelings on his Steel City exit — thanking the Steelers for his six-year tenure in Pittsburgh. "I wanna thank the city of Pittsburgh, the fans of Pittsburgh," Fitzpatrick told reporters on Monday. "You guys treated me very well. I enjoyed my time there and I played with some great teammates. It was very unfortunate the way things ended, but it's a part of the business." Likely holding mixed feelings about his departure from Pittsburgh, Fitzpatrick told reporters he wouldn't answer any questions regarding the Steelers, how the trade went down, or his relationship with Pittsburgh's coaches. Fitzpatrick will have his first opportunity to face off against his former Steelers when the Dolphins visit Pittsburgh on Monday Night Football in Week 15 — a contest sure to live up to expectations with potential playoff implications so late in the season. NFL employee Craig Clementi was warning colleagues when he was shot by Shane Tamura in NYC shooting

A staffer at the NFL's headquarters in Manhattan was struck by a bullet during Monday's shooting that killed four people, and continued to warn colleagues to evacuate the building while being transported in an ambulance, according to The Athletic. Craig Clementi, who works in the league's finance department, reportedly had been calling other NFL employees to warn them to avoid the building and escape, when a bullet pierced him in the back. The report notes, 'there is a belief' the bullet ricocheted before striking Clementi, who is said to have just welcomed a new baby. 4 The scene outside the Midtown Manhattan building. AFP via Getty Images NFL commissioner Roger Goodell told employees Monday in a letter that a staffer had been 'seriously injured' in the fatal event, but did not identify the employee beyond saying the individual is male. 'He is currently in the hospital and in stable condition. NFL staff are at the hospital and we are supporting his family,' Goodell wrote in the message viewed by The Post, while adding 'all of our employees are otherwise safe and accounted for.' Shane Tamura, a 27-year-old Las Vegas resident, entered the 345 Park Avenue skyscraper that hosts the NFL and Blackstone, a financial firm, around 6:30 p.m. ET and killed four people, including a 36-year-old married police officer. NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch said Monday night that Tamura killed officer Didarul Islam before slaying a woman while he continued 'spraying' the lobby with bullets. 4 Shane Devon Tamura during his high school football days. DailyNews PrepSports A man was shot in the lobby and survived, although it has not been confirmed if it was Clementi. Taura eventually traveled to the 33rd floor, well above the league's offices on the fifth through eighth floors, where he died by suicide by shooting himself in the chest. Here is the latest on the NYC mass shooting: The Post exclusively reported that Tamura had a note in his pocket, in which he lashed out at the NFL and claimed he had CTE, while mentioning former Steeler Terry Long, who killed himself after drinking antifreeze and later was diagnosed with CTE. Tamura played high school football in California but it is not believed that he played beyond that level. 4 Tamura outside of the building with a gun. Obtained by NY Post 'Terry Long, football gave me CTE and it caused me to drink a gallon of antifreeze,' the note stated, sources told The Post. 'You can't go against the NFL, they'll squash you.' 'Please study brain for CTE. I'm sorry. The league knowingly concealed the dangers to our brains to maximize profits. They failed us.' 4 Former Steeler Terry Long. Getty Images New York City Mayor Eric Adams said Tuesday on MSNBC's 'Morning Joe' that there is belief Tamura may have been targeting the NFL office in the building. Tisch said Monday that police were still investigating the motive for targeting the Midtown building. 'We have reason to believe that he was focused on the NFL agency that was located in the building,' Adams said on 'Morning Joe,' according to an MSNBC transcript. 'And we're going to continue to investigate with our federal partners to ensure that we can find a reason and identify of any other weapons. We found an additional weapon in the car that was parked outside at this time.'

In the spirit of the countdown, we're taking a look at the history of No. 41 and the players who wore it best. Current Steelers No. 41 wearer: LB Payton Wilson Drafted with the 98th overall pick in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft, Wilson is the current No. 41 wearer on the Steelers roster. One of the best linebackers of his draft class, the second-year Steeler dropped into the third round due to concerns regarding a rumored missing ACL. He proved himself in a major way his rookie year — and figures to remain the future of the Steelers' linebacker room. Last five Steelers to wear No. 41: Best No. 41 in Steelers history: S Lee Flowers Lee Flowers is the best Steeler to ever wear No. 41. Drafted with the 151st overall pick in the 1995 NFL Draft, Flowers earned the starting safety role in 1998 and went on to record 403 combined tackles and four interceptions during his career. A physical safety who wasn't afraid to lay the boom on opposing offenses, he played in 112 games from 1995 to 2002. Steelers countdown to kickoff — No. 43: a history of the number and who wore it best

The Steelers countdown to kickoff is here — and we're at 43 days until Pittsburgh faces off against the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium. In the spirit of the countdown, we're taking a look at the history of No. 43 and the players who wore it best. He helped lead Pittsburgh to two Super Bowl titles, was named the 2010 Defensive Player of the Year, earned eight Pro Bowl nominations, four First-Team All-Pro selections, and two Second-Team All-Pro selections.
